Help! Chronic sinus infection...

Cathlete
So I've been sick for what feels like forever! I had an infection, it went away with antibiotics. A week later I was back in with another sore throat/drainage - another infection. Took antibiotics and it went away. It's been about ten days since my last pill and my sore throat/drainage came back again Friday!! The first time I had the headache pain, the last two times it's just the throat for right now. Anybody else dealt with this? How did you finally clear things up?

Not sure if this will be helpful or not but here it is: My son used to get seasonal allergies every yr which always turned into sinus infections. I was reading a book on healing foods & read to eat kiwi for allergies. He ate a kiwi a day & it really worked!! He no longer gets his allergies like he used to, in fact very rarely.
Not sure if this would help in your case, thought I would pass it along anyway. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi,
We all use the netti pot and it seems to help tremendously! My older son hated it but it must be helping because he uses it and , at 21, he usually doesn't listen to anything that I say!

Do you have any allergies? I used to have several sinus infections a year. I sometimes thought that I might be allergic to something but dismissed it. It turned out after eliminating dairy (which was the hardest thing for me because I love yogurt and cheese) and soy my constant post nasal drip disappeared.

As was mentioned the netipot is great, however, if you are severely clogged up it won't help a lot. There are some pills that I used to take for sinus infection they work really well. Those have been prescribed by doctors in Germany for decades by the way. http://www.amazon.com/Bionorica-Sinupret®-Formerly-Sinupret-Forte/dp/B000GGTSBA

I hope you feel better soon.

I could've written this post myself! I am so sick of feeling crummy all the time! I decided this morning that my diet was part of the problem. Anyone with allergies should have a high concentration of acidic fruits in their diet (which I don't) which will naturally thin out mucus.

I also could stand to cut down on the junk food.

I'm on allergy meds all the time. But this year, the swollen throat/drip thing is really taking it's toll on me, and it doesn't seem to get any better.

Anyone else have suggestions?

My husband SUFFERS with constant sinus infections ever since we moved to Alabama (which is the pollen capital of the world :) ) He has had the prick test done for allergies and they say that he doesn't have any....He is so miserable all the time unless he is antibiotics....He is on singulair, he used to be on advair (we cant afford it anymore $400.00 for a three month supply) and he has even had sinus surgery to help clear him up and even that didn't help. Hopefully Bionorica Sinupret will help....If not I am not sure what he is going to do.

I SWEAR by my neti pot!!!!! I LOVE IT!! Ever since I have been using it, I have not had one sinus infection (I usually got about 2 a year) HTH! Hang in there!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I've actually had nasal drip all winter, which makes me wonder if it's something in the house. I do have a netti pot, which is awesome, just a few weeks ago when I did it it hurt my neck and ended up going to the chiropractor! Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

A neti pot is great and should be used regularly, but if you have a chronic sinus infection you need to have a scan done to see if really is a chronic sinus infection. I had one that just kept coming back for a couple of years and it turned out, after I had an unnecessary surgery, that I had a body-wide fungal infection that was causing the chronic sinus infection (found this out by seeing an infectious-disease specialist). They had to put me on some killer anti-fungals, I had to stop nursing my daughter, and they had to test my liver every week. However, the fungal infection went away and so did the chronic sinus infection.
