HELP! Afraid to switch bc pills-Yasmine

Day 2 of Yasmine and I'm pee'ing constantly and TIRED. Not a little tired really tired. I'm going to try to stick with it and see if it gets better.

BUMP!

I have not taken BCPs for several years (wanted to get pregnant, got pregnant, had baby....) and have now been looking into different BC forms, trying to figure out what to do. I don't want to use condoms any more. So, I am reading this thread with much interest and appreciate all the input...

I haven't tried Yasmine but I'm currently taking Low-Ogesterel (generic name, not sure of the real name) and I never get zits anymore - I used to get the cystic ones on my chin all the time. I have a friend that takes Sesonale and she loves it (it's the one that you take constantly and you only get periods 4 times a year). She has always had great skin so I can't say how it works in that department, but think about the money saved on tampons!

Is Yasmin a monophasic? Or triphasic? Anyone? I know seasonale is monophasic. You can only take bc pills continuously if they are monophasic.

Maybe Autumn wll chime in?!

I took Yasmin continuously for almost a year after giving up on several other bcps. My reason for taking them was pain/endometriosis symptoms. I think Yasmin is supposed to have a higher concentration of a progesterone that is supposed to be more closely related to the progesterone we naturally produce, hence the diuretic effect.

My skin cleared up, and my symptoms improved...for awhile. Gradually I became extrememly depressed, nauseous ALL the time (but hey, I lost weight!), and finally, I ended up bleeding constantly. Needless to say, I gave up bcps all together as Yasmin was about the 6th one i'd tried. I just don't do well with them. Keep in mind ymmv. This is just my experience :)

Clare,

Yasmin is monophasic. I usually would take 3 months of the active pills in a row and then take a week off. This was WAY before Seasonale came on the market.

It worked better taking it like that because on my week off the active pills, I got really bad migraines. This kept them to only one every 3 months instead of monthly.
