HELP!..A few questions...

Hi everyone!!

I have a few questions to ask..here they are..

1). I don't really follow any "rotations" right now, I kinda just do what I feel like. But I am wondering, is it "OK" to do S&H or PS daily?? Meaning, can I do PS LEGS on Mon, PS back and biceps on Tues and PS chest/tri Wed?? I did a rotation similar to this in high school and was wondering if the general thought was that it was still OK. Would it still be OK for S&H. I am thinking of doing something like that and then doing PH on Friday. Any thoughts??

2) Is it possible to just keep getting bigger from weight training?? I know what everyone says...big thighs are a result of FAT and not MUSCLE, but I am getting comments that my thighs are bigger yet I know I have not put on fat. I think I have gained an inch or two there. I love to work my legs but am concerned that they will get much bigger. Since weight training I have lost quite a bit of abdominal fat but my thighs have increased in density, meaning I can pinch less fat and it seems the muscle is taking up more space than before. I am a relatively small woman but my thighs are 21". Does anyone else have this problem?? Overall, I look leaner and stronger, so will the hypertrophy level off, even if I up my weights?? I want to keep lifting heavier and heavier.. I wonder if the plyometrics that Cathe utilizes in her workouts are making me grow in and of themselves??

Well, that is all I can think of now. I will be hooked up with my DVD player on MON. and can start using all my new Cathe DVD's. YEAH!!! I plan to do the TTR then. Thanks everyone....

When I was doing the Slow and Heavy rotation, I'd do 1 tape a day for 3 days. I'd do the same with the PS, and once in a blue moon when I had time and energy, I do all the PS tapes in one day. It's a tough full body workout.

Cathe says on PS that you should do each workout only twice per week, and then only on non-consecutive days. Your plan sounds consistent with this, however, what about cardio? I have to be sure not to do SLA for several days before my cardio workout on the elliptical machine, or else my legs will get tired before my heartrate reaches my target zone! That SLA is a killer. I did it 4 days ago and I still feel achy. Can't wait to do it again, but next time I will not try to do all of the lunge sets!

I have not done SLA yet. Just got it. But I do do LL and that does not bother me too much. Cardio would be fit all around the weight work..it would be more of a weights rotation. Thanks for the info though..I think with what everyone is saying is I COULD do S & H 6 days a week(if I really wanted to, which I don't) if I did it in this order..Back/abs...SLA...chest/tri? And repeat for the next three days...does anyone do S & H rotation twice a week or would this be considered major overkill??

Any thoughts on the constantly growing thighs?? I thought Annette or Maribeth could answer that one. I know poeple say that as you gain muscle you actually SHRINK in size because muscle takes up less room than fat, but if you are gaining muscle while losing fat, how does this turn out?? If you gain muscle faster than you lose fat, won't you gain inches even though overall you are leaner?? I guess what I want to know is, if I keep lifting heavier and heavier, won't my quads have to continue to grow in size if I am eating good??? Any knowlege on this topic would be great!!

Even for someone else to say they have big strong 21 inch thighs would be appeasing....I am starting to think I am the only one with this problem!!

21 inches doesn't sound big to me. Really it doesn't. Especially if it is muscle. Strong legs are beautiful! And I am sure you are not alone. It seems most women are concerned with the size of their legs. And men do not seem so concerned with this.

I guess it seems logical to me that if you continue to push your legs harder than they are used to working and if you eat good protein that you will put on muscle. If no genetic predisposition hinders muscle growth, why not?

Somewhere along the line I thought I understood that plyometric work should help thin out your legs, not make them grow. I also seem to have this idea that if you work your legs a lot and don't give the muscle time to repair and rebuild that you won't grow as much. Not expert advise here--just things I have in my head from who knows where.

I am willing to bet that you look great! Think how many calories your strong legs burn up! Jeanne
