Help--2 Weeks til wedding and not at goal!

Hello Educated Crowd:
I have just under 2 weeks until my wedding and I am not quite at my goal weight of 140 for my big day and honeymoon! Is it worth killing myself and eating completely clean to get to my goal, or should I just keep faithful to my exercising and "sort of good" eating habits and let whatever happens happens? I think my daily supply of Junior Mints are keeping my stress levels at bay for the last minute wedding planning.
Any suggestions or thoughts? THANK YOU!
Linda

It's never worth killing yourself, wedding or no wedding. What would be a really good goal is a plan that you can live with after your wedding has long past. Most people, I'm afraid, get married, let down their guard down and gain weight. It's best to strike a balance that allows you to eat without starving and exercise without killing yourself, and do it long term.

Did that make sense?

HB,
That makes sense! Thanks for responding. I have been sort of obsessed with my goal "number" which is really close now. I didn't want to feel I failed to meet my goal.

I do not plan to allow myself to gain weight after the wedding/honeymoon. I have just spent 21 months taking off 25.5 pounds (long term as you suggested) so my exercise and "pretty good" eating habits are engrained in me now. Being overweight is just not worth it, if I can help it.

Thanks again.

Wow, Linda! 25 1/2 pounds!!! That is awesome. I remember when your wedding seemed sooo far away, and now, it's only two weeks away! How exciting. Keep at your workouts, do the best you can with your eating and enjoy your special day. Stand tall & be proud of the great accomplishment you have achieved. It's great also to hear that your exercise and "pretty good" eating have become a lifetime habit. Keep us posted. I am sure you are getting very excited! GOOD JOB!!!!

Linda - congrats on the impending Big Day! Just do what you do, keep up the good habits, indulge in a few Junior Mints when the mood hits, and enjoy yourself. The workouts will help you relieve the stress at bay as much as the Junior Mints. As Desiderata said,

"Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself."

Also, maybe think about giving yourself a wedding present and THROW THE SCALE AWAY. You don't need one tiny little number to tell you you're succeeding anymore. Again, just keep up the good work, kick up the intensity as you get more fit, keep up the good eating habits (replete with the occasional treat) and post here on the Forums!

Congrats again!

You are starting a new life with a man who loves you so (try to) relax and enjoy all this. You have done an amazing job already so don't stress if you are not quite at goal. You'll get there. Stress itself produces cortisol which can wreak havoc on the waistline so keep up the great work and adjust your goals as needed. goals are great but hold them loosely lest they make you crazy! Congratulations on your impending nuptials too!
