Hedonists 2/26

Morning all! I need your help. I simply am freaked out about my weight being over 130 pounds, regardless of all the kind and terrific remarks on the Board! I love ya, man!:7 I am more comfortable around 125 or so, and am going to get back to that by July 2, which is our 25th wedding anniversary. Convenient date to give me a decent amount of time to slowly work it off. I'm not heavy at all, but if you saw me you would be shocked at a weight of 132 because I have a very small frame. So, there must be extra lurking somewhere, and the elevated blood pressure makes me VERY worried that it's where it's doing some fu**ery even though it's not rolling around on my body!

So, yesterday I got on Fitday.com and began recording everything that goes in and exercise to keep close track of our beloved Hedonist slippage before I wear it! I know for sure that if I limit myself to one glass of wine all is well. But with the "once the bottle is open" rule and the beautiful spring weather and an inviting patio, gonna have to see the data in front of me to stay moderate. So help me out here and don't tell me I'm fine at 132!!! Tell me all the other fabulously hedonistic things I can enjoy other than ingestibles!x(

Charlotte, I'm sure you can lose your 5 pounds by July and still be a healthy hedonist. Just limit your wine indulgence to once a week or less. And there are certainly a lot of healthy, hedonistic menus available. Or limit portion size of those yummy things you just can't live without. (Chocolate for me.) So, like you said, STAY MODERATE. You don't have to drink a whole bottle of wine every nice spring evening that comes along. Limit yourself to one nice spring evening per week. That should still average out to, what, 6-8 evenings? Or invite another friend or 2 the share the bottle. Good luck and keep posting.

Hi Charlotte & Robin... & all who follow. It's good to see the hedonists back posting again! Here's to hedonists of all kinds!

Charlotte, I agree with Robin. I don't think you'll have a bit of trouble losing those 5 pounds by the end of June & I also don't think you'll have to sacrifice many of your treasured hedonistic pleasures. I sure won't try to convince you that you're fine at your current weight either. Each of us is different & we know when we feel the best.

You know, it's funny but I could have written your post. I also have a very small frame & I'm short so when I recently gained over 10 pounds due to rib injuries, I literally couldn't fit into some of my clothes. I also felt awful in a bathing suit but we have a hot tub so if I was going to enjoy that, I had to wear the dreaded suit. I think I officially got back into exercise & watching what I eat right after the first of the year, although my ribs were (& still are) tender. Anyway, I'm happy to announce that in a little under 2 months, I've lost 6 pounds. I've still got at least 6 more to go but I'm sure I'll get there & I'm just happy with the progress I've made so far.

So I'd say to limit but not eliminate those edible indulgences you just can't live without. Maybe you could start drinking spritzers to help drink less wine while still extending the pleasure of these nice spring evenings. Alternate a glass of wine with a glass of water or maybe have a glass or 2 of wine & end the evening with a nice cup of tea. Like Robin said, just try to keep it moderate & you'll meet your goals! Good luck & please keep us posted.

Cheers! (With a spritzer, of course)

Kel

P.S. - I had a super indulgent weekend filled with all my favorite foods & drink. But I also worked very hard on Saturday so I know that helped counteract it too. This morning, I did Cardio & Weights & I've also eaten very clean so I think I'm back on track again. But the scale will tell on Wednesday...

Kel - Darn: you have lost 6 pounds since the beginning of the year?? Whoa, way to go:eek: And broken ribs?? That is supposed to be one of the most painful things ever.. Yow. I am most impressed that you are able to work out. Does it actually make your torso muscles feel better to work them?

Thanks for the encouragement! I promise to let you know when I get to 125. Maybe I'll be able to figure out how to post a picture by then.

Please let us know what you're up to, out there. I had ONE glass of wine last night and ONE tonight. Already starting to waste away!:7
