heartrate monitors

Hi, does anyone else have a problem getting their heartrate to show up at all. No matter what kind I try I never show a heartrate. I've tried the same one on my husband and the wrist ones on my kids and they all have heartrates. Where is mine? Any help, I really want to use one but nothing registers. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I used to have this problem all the time. I tried everything, and then one day my DH suggested making the chest strap tighter. Viola! That did it. I don't like things tight, but I got used to it.

ETA: Try making it as tight as you can stand it.

Nancy, thanks for the idea but I did try that and nothing. Even the wrist monitor which wasn't that tight on my kids worked for them and not for me. Any other ideas? Thanks

Hi, Karen! Are you wetting the chest strap before you put it on? The directions for mine says to do that. Also, make sure you're not close to the TV when you try it. I don't get a heartrate at all when I'm standing in front on the TV. Hope one of those things works for you.

Sue

Sue, wetting doesn't help and I was not in front of the tv. I can be in the kitchen, outside in the bedroom. Nothing registers. It is so frustrating. Thanks though and have a great weekend.

Sue, I looked at the link and have tried everything. I am surprised that even my friend that came over, the wrist monitor worked for her but still not for me. Can a heartbeat be so low it doesn't register?

kaykay, it's definitely not the wrist monitor. You have to work with the chest band. Wet your chest under the band, wet the band, make it very tight, and then start exercising. At some point, your heartbeat will become strong enough that it will be picked up. Mine doesn't always work before I begin to exercise either.

Nancy, the wrist band doesn't have a chest strap, it is suppose to work by putting it on a pressing with the other hand a get a heartrate. Everyone else can get one but me. I will try to use my polar and see if I can start working out and get it to register. Thank you so much for all the help. Have a great weekend.

add some liquid soap over the sensors that is what I had to do. I was having trouble with mine and you definately have to make sure you have it snug.

I don't mean to be too personal, but, are you large-chested? I know somone who's breasts got in the way of the sensor and it wouldn't read. Try it with different bras. HTH, DEb

Thanks everyone. I've wetted it and washed it and pulled it tight and I still don't get a heartrate with the chest strap. My DH can get one using my monitor and I don't. It makes me wonder whats up?
