Heart Rate Question...

I have a hard time completing a high impact aerobics session, 40-50 minutes,(low impact is not a problem). Sometimes I take it low until I can catch my breath. My question is if I pause the CD and take a 30-45-60 second breather then start back up, is this a good idea or does lowering the heart rate a bit until I can continue at the pace a bad idea? What does this do to the body/heart?

Thanks to anyone for helping!

Hi! No, it is not a problem to pause your CD player to catch your breath. If you are trying to complete a higher impact DVD and it is still challenging, actually stopping is good becuase you are forcing your body to continue to improve. Meaning, you are increasing your fitness abilities with the more challenging DVDs. And, since you are only pausing for about 40 seconds, it's not like you are taking a huge break. Keep it up and some day you won't have to take that break!

Thanks Kristen! I never thought of it that way...now I feel pretty good about the challenge and look forward to completing those workouts!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you too! Actually, sometimes when I workout with Cathe and do, say Imax 3 blasts only premix, I use the Mix and Match, which actually does stop on its own. I like to do certain blasts two times, rather than the premix as is. So I count outloud for 15-20 seconds then I go to the next blast. In between I march. I like doing it this way becuase sometimes, even though I am more advanced, I too get winded. Having that little rest allows me to catch wind!

Anyways, take care and if you have any more questions, don't hestitate to post. Everyone on board can always be of help. :)
