Hearing Loss

Hi all - I'm an intermediate stepper - Haven't yet gotten past Kelli, Kari (older ones) and original step Reebok. I do have difficulty with the choreography on more complex workouts. However, I am a great dancer and can pick up funky, dancy steps. I do get dizzy though when I'm doing intense or complicated step moves. I think though that I might know why. I have a 50-60% hearing loss in my right ear and I'm wondering if that's what's making it more difficult for me. I'm ok with the straightforward stuff (more athletic) and can do the half turns, lunges, ball changes, etc., but when the pace gets really fast, I start feeling dizzy. Any one else experience this? Do you think it's because my equilibrium is off due to hearing loss. Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Thanks - Mar:)

Have you ever been checked for Meneire's disease (AKA vertigo)? I have had slight episodes of vertigo and was given a prescription by my Dr. for when it acts up. Hasn't for a while, so haven't tried the medication. I would just have days where I felt real dizzy and sometimes the room would just start spinning, even if I was laying down...so actually, this might not be what you are talking about at all...not sure if this helped

:)

No - I don't have vertigo, but with the hearing loss I also find that when I go to high elevations, i.e. way up in the mountain towns of Sicily or in a high rise building or stadium, I feel unsteady and somewhat dizzy and like I said before when I do fast step moves.

Hi Mar, I also have a hearing loss 40% in each ear. I think it can be your equilibrium. I sometimes get dizzy but I don't know if it has to do with my hearing loss or not. I notice it gets bad with the alergies season.
