I am sure there have been a few that have mentioned they shop at them. How are they and what kinds of things do they carry what have you found to be beneficial. I have never been in one and I am interested in trying some new things. Thank You

I LOVE my health food store. It's called Henry's Farmers Market (it's owned by Wild Oats) and it's fabulous! They have much better prices on produce than the regular grocery store and they also have a huge bulk section with different kinds of grains and rice and stuff that you can't really find in the regular grocery store. When I lived in Virginia, I did all my grocery shopping at Wegmans which isn't really a health food store but it has a large health food section. Wegmans was great because they had all the health food stuff as well as all the "normal" stuff like diet coke and ziplock bags and lightbulbs and stuff.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good

i live no where near a health food store but Kroger has a great health food section, though still not as good as a health food store.

There seem to be two types of "health food" store: those like GNC that are basically supplement stores, and those that carry a wider range of things, from supplements to frozen organic foods, to grocery store type foods, but natural and organic, herbal teas, 'natural" (though still not 'clean') cookies and baked goods and crackers, books and magazines, etc.

There used to be just a GNC near me, so I would drive 50 miles to get to the next nearest "grocery store"-type health food store. Luckily, a retired couple opened a 'grocery-store" type health food store here, and when they retired from that, their son and daughter-in-law took over the business. It's a nice little store, and they are more than willing to do special orders for regulars like me (unless they have to buy a dozen of some item I only want a small quantity of and they don't think anyone else would buy it).
