The dog was an addition from to the script, the others had no "best friend". Its a movie about a depressing subject, you expected a happy ending?

I was watching The Bodyguard last night, Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. The script was written almost 30 years ago! It was written with Steve McQueen and Diana Ross in mind but society wasn't "ready" for it. IMDB great stuff!

No, I wasn't expecting a happy ending. Regardless of the subject matter of the movie, it still doesn't make the dog dying any easier or less saddening.

I was expecting a happy ending. Most "end of the world" movies do have happy endings--uplifting, inspiring, humanity-will-survive type endings. And in fact this movie did as well. I just wish the poor dog didn't have to die for it (notice I'm not so concerned that the Will Smith character did).
