Have any of you used Fit Day computer program?

I have used that computer program to track my progress for a week, it is an excellent program. I am on Weight Watchers, and stay under/on my points everyday....but I have been tracking my food for a week, and I am shocked that 50% of my calories are coming from fat, 42%from carbs, and only 8% from protein!
I am not meeting any of my nutrional requirements as far as vitamins.
I was really surprised that even though I am following all my points, and losing weight (slow) that my fat intake is SO HIGH..and Protein SO LOW! I dont like any vegtables or fruit (it's a mental thing). I dont eat any meat except hamburger and chicken. I just usually dont have much money to buy lots of chicken....so I only eat it a couple times a week. I really need to change my diet....but I dont like anything that is healthy. I have been like this since I was little. To give you an idea of how strange I am....I would compare eating vegtables to some of that stuff they eat on fear factor! I know it is a really strange mental hang up, I dont understand why I am like this...and always have been.

My dad once offered me $100 to eat a salad....and I tried to make myself do it, and could not bring myself to eat it! Maybe I need to call Dr. Phil! Maybe Hypnosis?

Boy Joanna, I can't imagine not liking fruit and vegetables. That's practically all I eat. One of my sister's doesn’t like anything either. She lives on frozen dinners.
The only thing I can think of is to trick yourself into eating vegetables, like Moms do with kids. For example, put veggies into pasta sauces or burritos. Maybe find some spices you like and douse a vegetable soup with it. Also, you might want to try some fruit and vegetable drinks and mix some Benefiber (it has no taste) in it, so you get some fiber in your diet.

For protein, try adding some egg whites and albacore into your diet. Bumble Bee tuna now offers flavored tuna steaks. They're very good.

I, too, cannot imagine not liking fruits and vegetables. You don't even like apples or bananas?

I agree with the suggestion for "disguising" the healthy foods. Have spaghetti marinara and make your own marinara sauce from fresh tomatoes and chop up other veggies in it (carrots, bell peppers, zucchini, etc), and season with Italian herbs. You could serve with chopped cooked chicken, or cook up some extra-lean ground beef for a protein source.

Find a salad dressing you really like and make yourself a huge salad with dark greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, red cabbage, etc. Of course, if someone has to pay you $100 to eat salad, you may have a hard time with that one. I love salads.

I read somewhere that your tastebuds completely regenerate every 14 days (or something like that). It is possible to completely retrain your tastebuds if you can stick it out for just a couple of weeks - you can learn to enjoy vegetables. Also, are you SURE you don't like vegetables? A lot of people who didn't like certain foods as children, find that when they try those foods again as adults, they aren't bad at all. Children have ultra-sensitive tastebuds, and are just pickier eaters. You may have outgrown your dislike for veggies, but don't even know it because you haven't tried any recently. Try eating a baby carrot - just give it a try. You may like it!

The fact is, you NEED to eat fruits and vegetables. They are good for you in so many ways. Without them, your body is devoid of so many nutrients. Your mental hangup is just that - mental. The more you tell yourself you don't like certain foods, the more you believe yourself. Start telling yourself that you DO like salad, and you DO want to eat healthy, and then go and actually DO it. Your body will thank you! :)

Have you tried eating vegetables/fruits now that you are an adult or are you relying on your feelings about these foods when you were a child? People's palettes change as they age and I can speak from experience that I eat many foods now that I wouldn't touch as a child. Give some of these foods a chance again, you might be surprised! At least challenge yourself to taste some different veggies/fruits. What's the worst that can happen? If you truly don't like what you tasted, don't finish what's on your plate and move on. You'll find something you like if you keep trying.

I am a Weight Watchers Lifetime member and yes, you can fall within points eating what you are eating but to get the full health benefits of the program you need to follow their suggestions of getting your vegetable/fruit, dairy, water, and heathy fats in every day (or at least most days).

I used to use Weight Watchers online but after discovering FitDay (the software program) I cancelled the WW. This FitDay software is awesome!
I downloaded it from their website.

I couldn't imagine not liking fruits or veggies either. What about trying new recipes? You could always make a lasagna and add zuchinni and shredded carrots to it? Try an apple or some celery dipped in peanut butter. Since you yourself said it is mind over matter, why not try a new fruit or veggie each week? You're bound to find something that you like. Good luck.

Oh and to answer your question, I've never used FitDay.

I've used both, fitday and ww online. Right now I'm doing ww online. I wish there was a way for fitday to tell us ww points also.

Dani-I use the free online version. How much better is the downloaded version?

That FitDay program looks awesome! I think I am definately going to either order the software or download it from the site! Should come in VERY handy for weight loss after the baby is born!

As for the fruit and veggie thing...I agree with the others...you really need to investigate ways that will get you to eat those things. You really do need them for a healthy diet.

Hi Diana,

The downloaded version is 100% better. I love it! I used the free online version for a while and then decided to just download the whole thing.

It's a lot easier to navigate, you can log in your daily moods in the mood diary, log your measurements and so much more. The weight, calorie, and activity logs are a lot better too.

It's a lot more detailed than the online version. It's also nicer to look at for some reason. The layout is a lot better.

Also, I really found I didn't need to count WW points anymore. It tells you how many calories you should be eating per day to reach your goal weight by your goal date. I like this so much better than counting points. It will also tell you how many calories you burned according to your activity. There's a nice bar graph even that shows you day to day how many calories you burned and how many calories you consumed. You can log your weight weekly here just like WW and log your measurements too.

Dani :)

Thanks for the info Dani. Since I have a 3 month obligation with the ww site, I will continue using that one for now. But once it expires I will download fitday.
