Cathlete
Morning! (Please imagine a large, sunny smilie face emoticon here.)

We had quite a shake last night...I got home fairly late and played with the squirrels, and washed up and pretty much just got into bed...and just as I was falling asleep, a really loooooooooooong earthquake hit.

Why, why do those things have to happen just when I'm naked and falling asleep?! (Please imagine a frantic, sleepy emoticon here.)

Anyway, luckily I was sleepy enough to get back to sleep about half an hour later.

All yesterday I was quite upset about the thought of smilie rations LOL.

But I got home and looked in my mailbox and guess what was in there?

MY KETTLEBELL WAY DVD! I don't mean to splurge it all right here but I think that's worth 4 emoticons!

And my kettlebell just came now!

(repeat emoticons above here.)

I've been watching and reading kettlebell stuff on the internet all morning! Woo!

I'm wondering if I should I should do a run-through without any weight first, or is that just stoopid? (Please imagine a goofy emoticon hitting himself in the head here.)

JENNIFER - Glad to hear your lawn is mowed and pretty. That is wild about that guy contacting you. Now I know what you mean about being careful about it.

That's cute about Madrid and the toy mouse. Mooch used to do that with one of his toys - bring it to bed. I have to be careful what toys I leave out because Mooch has a tendency to try to eat them LOL. But I do leave a bunch out that are safe, and when they want to play, they always bring one and drop it at my feet.

>You have all the high tech stuff for your squirrels. My boys have old fashioned litter in the old school box.

I'm ashamed to think of how much money I spent on 2 imported automatic litter boxes. I totally am preferring the new old-fashioned one. It's so much easier to clean and because it's lightweight, it's easy to move around if needed.

But when I think that they used the automatic one for a year with it on, and I did have all those weekends away,...well, the automatic system did keep things very clean for them all that time, so it was worth it.

My Mom can still use hers with it on, and mine is being used, just off,...but honestly, I'd get rid of it if it hadn't cost me the price of a platinum diamond ring LOL.

Hey, by the way, I went to the link you posted about your family but I couldn't find any movies. Could you check the link address again and repost it?

MICHELE - Yay, how's the hair? Do you feel a ton lighter? I love to watch my hair being cut and falling to the floor.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister and that her MS is acting up. Is that related at all to the other stress she's having?

>I'm going to register a complaint about the smilie limitation.

I really think we need to do this because it is a MAJOR problem!!! I'm serious! I want to use my smilies limitlessly! (Please imagine a crying baby emoticon here.)

OH! I just happened across a thread concerning the ration! I've posted, using all 4 emoticons that I could LOL.

>I'm PO'd about losing my 11,037 post count...and I'm not crazy about being a "junior" member

Ahhhh, I feel so authoritative being senior LOL! Although you don't actually need very many posts to become a senior. But I'd be bummed about the 11,037 post count, too. That's really quite something when you think about it. I mean, really, 11,037 posts! I wonder what rank that would have been - Super Senior, or Kiss THAT Senior or something. You'd think someone on staff could give you your counts to your new name.

But then again, like you mentioned, it's also kind of cool to start with a clean slate for the new forum.

>back when I worked for the vet, about 1/2 of the people who used those litter boxes got rid of them (a lot of cats get freaked out by them).

I can see that. When I feel it's good timing to chuck it, it's going to feel good to do so. It's so heavy and bulky. I'm also not too keen about silica and not being able to scoop out the pee.

I see there are many different attachments for Da Bird. Here's the one we got :

http://www.amazon.com/Bird-Interactive-Feather-Cat-original/dp/B000679IE6

It's fantastic - very well-made - strong and easy to use. The rod is quite long, and the string is strong. The stiff feathers are held onto the string with something that allows the feathers to spin when you whiz the toy in the air, and it really does a great job of simulating a bird, sound and all. My guys all go NUTS for it!

> have you bought new shoes yet? I'd hate for you to drop a KB on your bare feet, and I want you to try and hit your CC spot --

No, guhhhh, I desperately need to get my shoes. I DESPERATELY need to find my CC spot. One thing though - it is deathly hot and humid here. Do you think it might be possible to do CC in my air-conditioned apartment running in place?

Stop laughing (please imagine a face with no expression emoticon here). I'm not joking!

By the way, check out these great kettlebell tutorials!

SHANNON -

>your posts are still wonderful, even without the smilies. It'll be okay. I promise.

You're sweet, thanks. But with the smilie rations, it's hard to completely express when I'm merely feeling a bit pukey and not blue. People might really think I have squirrels living in my apartment. And if I can't use more than 4 smilies per post, what am I going to do with all the extra time I then have on my hands? That will mean that I have to got to my workroom sooner. (Please imagine a spastic laughing emoticon here.)

By the way, I love your avatar! What's your horsie's name?

Okay, I've been working my butt off so I'm taking the day off today (well, after I do about an hour of work that I need to prepare for tomorrow). And I'm going to watch my Kettlebell DVD (please imagine a very happy, excited emoticon here).

Have a great day everyone!! (Kissie smilie here.)

I had to come back to tell you I've just gone through the tutorial of The Kettlebell Way!

I AM GOING TO LOVE THIS WORKOUT. SOMEONE HELP ME AND MAKE SURE I DON'T GO AND BUY EVERY SINGLE KETTLEBELL WORKOUT FROM NOW.

(Oh yeah, as if there's a kettlebell icon LOL)

So here are my thoughts on the tutorial, because I know you're all on the edge about getting it.
121fs725372.gif

First off, I like both instructors - at least from what I've seen from the tutorial. Anthony is awesome and obviously knows what he's doing. Beth is fun but not obnoxious, and even though I keep thinking she rehearsed to act natural (LOL), I like her.

I also love the feel of the exercises and they're fresh and new to me. Of course the tutorial is probably going slow (I used my kettlebell and ran through the tutorial while watching), but I have the feeling I'm going to finally be able to get squats down, and I'm kind of happy about that.

When Anthony explains moves, and Beth does them, they're doing the opposite of what you're looking at which is sort of confusing, but hopefully it's just the tutorial...(as in, he'll talk about putting your left hand here, but when you look at Beth, she IS using her left hand, so it's on the right side when you look at her).

One thing that was weird is that Beth is not mic'd. I mean, how much could it have cost to rent one more clip mic?! So even though they are standing right next to each other, Anthony sounds like he's right there, and Beth sounds like she's in the other room.

By the way, Beth is wearing gloves. When I got to the place where you hold the bell part and not the handle, I could tell I was going to have trouble holding onto it, especially if my hands were to get sweaty. I don't know if it's because the bell is too big for my grip, but I cannot keep a safe grasp on the bell. I'm not sure what to do about that - to use a dumbbell for those moves, or to go buy some gloves...

At one point I thought, I am SO glad I got the 8kg to start with...and then later I thought, oh man, I'm not going to be able to do this move with 8kg. It's hard to keep the wrist straight holding that thing up! And even though the bell isn't banging against my wrist, can someone say yeow?

(Can you tell I'm taking a day off? LOL)

I'm going to do the workout maybe Saturday (I'd do it tomorrow but I have to go out and work tomorrow, and if the workout makes me mush, that's not going to be cool
electricf.gif
).

And there you have it!

I am totally excited about this workout!!

Okay, I've got stuff to do. Stuff like watching an episode of Frasier.

Goodmorning, smilie-challenged August and the rest of youse haters.

I got all excited at August's link to Da Bird, thinking it was a photo of her balcony bird. Imagine my dismay to see it was merely a cat toy.:(

Our new target opened yesterday and DD and I went for a look-see. I looked at the kettlebells. I didn't realize they cost so much. And looking at the tutorial August posted, I'm sure I'd bash a hole in my ceiling. Still, I so want to have what everyone else has!

I'm leaving this afternoon for the pre-RT at Cathe's gym. I'll be staying overnight, going to Friday morning's step class, which isn't officially part of the RT, then coming home. I sure wish all of you were going to be there.

I'm not sure if any of you read any of the threads I've posted in, but our micro lab identified a fairly dangerous bacteria. It is highly infectious to lab workers, so we all have to take a three week long multiple antibiotic regime. Pretty scary, but pretty exciting for a microbiologist.

But enough about me. Dana, Michele, August, Jenn, Jennifer and Diane, miss you all.

Hello Haters,

It is under www.woodtv8.com or google woodtv. It will be under the video section. IT was a long night last night, I had an heated email discussion with my baby brother, Mark. This morning, I told my siblings that I will not be part of the group gift. It will be too expensive for me.

Going back to bed now for an hour.

Good morning!! (insert tired looking coffee drinking smilie here)

First of all, Augie, I'm awfully glad you weren't hurt during the earthquake, and that you didn't have to evacuate, what with your being naked and all :D. Do you get dressed when those hit -- I mean -- just in case you have to evacuate?

I have to be brief today. I need to run my car in for service and I want to get there when they open so I can be first.

AUGIE - O.M.G.! ROTFLMAO!!! ROTFLMAO!!! ROTFLMAO!!! I KNEW you'd love KB's! I cannot believe how fast you got your kettlebell and DVD! That's awesome!

Oh geez, there's so much I want to say but I have to hurry.

My first time through I only did the tutorial. I extended it so I could do about 8 or 10 reps on each side. Yesterday I did the full workout, and parts of it are really hard. I had to go at my own pace -- there's no way I can keep up with Anthony and Beth. By the way, the 2 of them aren't always right together, either, and they strongly encourage you to go at your own pace.

The first exercise -- the swings -- are easy to do, but I could not do them for the full 2 minutes. I was completely out of breath after about a minute. There were a couple of exercises I couldn't do very well -- it's just going to take practice -- but it's still fun! This workout will test your endurance like nothing else!

And they don't do mirror cuing, so when they say right, I do left so that I'm mirroring them. It is a little confusing at first, but you'll get used to it. I thought of you right away because nearly the whole dang workout incorporates squats  , and I agree with you that this w/o will help you master them. I will probably repeat the tutorial. I'm going to take it slow. I want to make sure I get the form down. Even with the little bit that I was able to keep up with, I have some DOMS this morning, especially in my butt and core areas. I mean, ALL THOSE SQUATS!!!

I'll go into more detail later. I just wanted to say hi for now.

ROBIN -- HAVE FUN!!! I wish I could go with you, too. I'm really sorry Shelley had to cancel. I know several people were really looking forward to meeting her.

Ooh, congratulations on IDing a scary bacteria! Geez, I hope none of you catch it! What kind of symptoms are you supposed to look out for? :(

JENNIFER -- I'll be praying about your job and the anniversary party. Don't let it tear your family apart -- it's not worth it. I think your parents will probably want you all to be happy and getting along more than they'll want a gift.

I'll BBL! Hello to DANA, JEN, CUZ, and DIANE in the meantime!

This morning, I have decided not to participate in the group gift. It will be more peaceful for myself and the rest of the siblings. Thanks for your prayers.

August - I checked this thread first just to make sure all is still well with you after the earthquake. I'm very glad to see that it is. And I get a kick out of how calmly you take all these earthquakes. Have fun with those kettlebells! No matter how much I hear people rave about them, I still haven't been tempted. Can you believe that?

Oh, and that's not my horse. I was up in Canada visiting Shelley. We were shopping in a neat downtown area, and that horse was hitched to a buggy you could rent for rides. We didn't rent the buggy, but we each got a picture with the horse. My horses are much prettier. :D

Robin - I was wondering about that nasty bacteria. I'm glad your lab is being so careful. You be sure to take every last dose of those antibiotics! And have fun on your little pre-RT adventure!

Cuz - Do you call that post "brief"??? LMAO!!! Did you get in first to get your car serviced?

Last night was very busy. Whew. I could have used two extra hours, but I got it all in. The horses needed their hooves trimmed, and the farrier was late. I had to pick blueberries and water the plants. But yes, I fit in a workout! CC 6, and it was great. My poor dog felt neglected, what with all my running around, so I spent the last few minutes before bed scratching her ears and chin.

BOO HOO! They can't work on my car until tomorrow :( . This means I have to totally rearrange my day. Oh well.

Cuz -- Kettlebells are so fun!!! It's a type of functional fitness and it really works your core, butt, and legs like nothing else. It works your whole body but there's definitely an emphasis on the core, butt and hamstrings.

Did you turn green after the 2nd challenge in V6? :p

Alrighty, I have to run some errands that i had scheduled for tomorrow. I'll BBL if I can.

Ciao!

Hiya haters! Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I did lurk but I've been so busy at work I had no time.

August - thank God that you are ok w/the earthquakes. I don't know how you're so calm. I'd be packing my bags long ago!!!

Robin - I didn't know that Target opened yesterday. Did you find any good buys? How much are the KB's there? How about this weather today? It is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I'm thinking I may head over to the lake tonight to walk - if nothing else comes up.

Shannon - wow you had a busy night didn't you. Do you have a lot of blueberry bushes on your land? My son and I went picking blueberries last year (in Robin's town) and we picked quite a bit. They were so good! I tried to see your avatar bigger but I guess when you click on them, they don't get larger do they?

Michele - I agree w/Shannon, that post was not brief. LOL. I really like your review of the KB workouts and I *may* check out the site this weekend. Maybe I"ll get to Target too - who knows!?!?!?!

Jennifer - I'm glad that you were able to make a decision where you won't be stressing.

So as I'm perusing around the forums, did you see where you have your "friend" listed, next to their name you can "break friendship". I just thought that was funny. Anyone else who can't get into the workout manager? I did the first day but I can't anymore.

OK, sorry to be brief with this, and my post is brief, but I gotta go. Later haters!

Cuz - do the kettlebells get your shoulders? It seems like they would, with all that swinging.

Dana - No, we don't really have blueberries on our land naturally. I planted 5 bushes at the bottom of my yard. Trust me, that's quite enough! :D I got into the Workout Manager the other day. I logged out of the forums and then logged into the WM. When I did that, it seemed to work fine. But before I tried that, I couldn't get in at all.

Hello Haters.
Come to find out, my siblings don't even know if my parents want a family picture or not so all of this grief has been SO stupid. Tomorrow, I get to go in late cause of fear of OT and we're slow. Aunt Flo is visiting and she is a tyrant this month.

Have a Great Night.

Evening Jennifer! Yeah, Flo is here too. No wonder I've been so grouchy (to put it nicely). I didn't get to walk tonight. I took my son over to the racetrack b/c DH is over there. I wasn't home 30 minutes when the phone rang, "Mom, I miss you. Will you come & pick me up???" I don't think so!!!!

I can't believe how your siblings were acting when nothing was even confirmed about a family picture.

I'm usually not up this late but I want to watch a show that is coming on at 10:00. I finally got my avatar too!!!!

I'm gonna go play some scrabble online and then it should be time for my show.

Night night haters!!!
