HATE is a many splendored thing - Mar 20

August

Cathlete
Morn, morn!

It is sooooo time for it to get warmer here. SO TIME
3.gif
! There was a spurt of about two warm, balmy days and I got all excited. If I'd been a little less busy, I'd have put away all my winter clothing and got out my summer stuff! Lucky for me that didn't happen, because it's practically colder now than it was all winter, and I've been wearing my (cue echo effect) The Warm Outfit. I find that once it gets to a certain coldness I wear the same thing - the warmest dang thing I can put together.

And so now I must put on my (cue echo effect) The Warm Outfit and get ready to go to my workplace so I can take another good nap on the couch there
11.gif
.

Can I just tell you about the sofa? I think it's the best sofa I've ever slept on. The sofa is made up of foot-long sections of sofa that are all zipped together so you can make it as long or as short as you'd like. I've heard it called a Snake Sofa, because when it's long enough, you can position it so that it slightly curls and twists so that it has vague "S" shapes. Somehow, because of these sections, your body is caressed in all the right places and...and.....zzzz...zzz....zzzzzzzzz.

Awesome sofa. I can't wait for my nap! Love my job.

I'm still feeling resistant to do my workouts, so I'm going to give myself the benefit of the doubt and go a little longer to refresh rather than to force myself and then have to run for President of Hatesville.

Oh, look, there I am, except for this emoticon isn't using his step for his foot rest.

Have a nice day everybody!

MSY - LOL about the twins. I asked my DP (darling plant) but he didn't have any ideas for me to pass on. Your DH and you could cry back at them and see how they like it?

>I love doctors too! Me, and the one I married

LMAO!

ARISTA - That's fantastic that you're doing great with your program. You're going to feel and look so great on your honeymoon! Not to mention how Ryan will feel hehehehh!.....Hey, good luck on your finals!

JEN - Glad the oil got changed and you had a good rest day!...I'm also the type to never go to the doctor, but three years is a long enough time, so you should think of it just as a checkup, and while you're at it, talk about your symptoms again.

MICHELE -

>I've never had children so I have no clue what to tell you. I know when my dogs were demanding I used to put them out in the back yard, but I don't guess you can do that -- LOL!

OMG, LMAO.

Right after I posted last night and got up to give Pedro some electricity juice, I decided I'd really better at least try to go to sleep, and sure enough, I did. So you can expect a nice sleep, don't you worry!

>I love doctors -- the one I go to -- and the one I married

Haha, lucky girl.

DIANE - What a bummer you can't take off student loans...

DEB - Hi there! How you doing? I love seafood and I'm joining you all in Maine! Come on, Michele, we'll get you to love it with us!

MARIAH - I remember what you remember about Jen and her having some painful days and promising to go to the doctor on Monday. I must be losing it, too. Oh yeah, I see that Jen addressed this. Good.

DANA - What's this about breakfast delivered to your door? Are you going there? I also missed the part about your DH getting a truck instead of a treadmill. WTH?! How on earth did that happen?!

TERRI - Hey, is all all right with your son? Why did he have to go to the doctor?...OMG, that's so great about getting below your sticking point! I won't talk about it too much though, don't want to jinx it...What's a, what's a DING DONG?! You are joking, ri, right? Ooh, Pinwheels, are those the marshmallow cookies?...Yeah, I guess if I thought about someone from the forum, I'd think of their avatar. Which means, for those who don't have an avatar, I wonder what would come to mind?

ROBIN - How wacky that Aunt Flo would run off for almost a year and then expect you to take her back no questions asked all at her convenience. Anyway, good for you for squeezing in that Drill Max. Yikes, you're up at 4:30am?!

CORRIE - Corrie, I was really moved and felt teary reading your post about your mom. I'm glad you took the time to write it. It reminds me to be really thankful about being able to have my mom live downstairs and reminds me to find more patience with her when we lock horns. The part about your mother climbing the stairs to get to you while you were giving birth - oh man, even just typing that out makes me teary.

But LMAO about Emili yelling "Mommy, be quiet!" That is awesome. LOL.

How good of you to push your mom to go see a doctor when she did. It sounds like it saved her life.

>Whoa - are we chatty or what!??!! I can't imagine what it would be like if we were all in the same room together LOL

LMAO! It better be a sound-proof room!

Well, so Aunt Flo is keeping you company while DH is out of town. At least you won't be lonely, heh. I wonder if Heather's Aunt Flo has come yet.

BRIEE - Hi, Brieeeee!

Later!

I'm dressed in my you know what (cue echo effect anyway) and ready to go out the door, but saw Corrie's post and wanted to respond to it...

> Oh, oh....I am babbling on again. Darn! I KNEW I should have gone to councelling when it was offered. LOL

LMAO.

> I'll try to refrain from the long posts and keep it lighter from now on.

Don't apologize for writing a powerful post. I think it's great that you felt comfortable to share such a personal story with us, and speaking for myself, I like that kind of depth, especially when it's one with a positive vibe.

Though I do like bad-mouth dirt a lot, too, so everybody, please post those, as well. Let's keep it balanced. :*

All right. I'm off!

Well, my homework's finally done... so here's some bad-mouth dirt for you!!

I'm PMSing!! woo-hoo!!

Have any of you watched Babel? Ryan and I thought it was incredibly depressing... It definitely kept my attention, but it was depressing all the same.

Was part of it filmed in Tokyo? Isn't that your city August?

My theory on music and movies is that they should lift your mood or make you reconsider your life. Babel did neither of these for me.

This is an egocentric post. Sorry! I'll post personals tomorrow. I'm actually taking the day off so I think I'll have time.

Good night/morning!

Good Morning
Im working today and it will give me 6 days of work this week
although Im glad for the work, I was really hoping and happy when i thought about 2 days off
Oh Well Cant have cake and eat it although thats what i would like

I watched Beach Bodies cardio last nite LOL I started to do it at 830 did about 10 mins and was exhausted so i just watched the rest
Its certainly doable
So maybe tonite
August you surely have a wonderful way with words
Becky where are you???
Arista? the food plan your on, is it one where you buy your food from them or is it your own food and how do you plan what you eat
and congrats on the 3 lbs if you keep that up you will be down your 20 lbs in no time
and remember to exercise
What an addiction you gals have become. I havent had my coffee yet and i had to check in

Now im off to start my morning will check back before i go to work

Morning chicas~

August - I'm with you on the WHEN IS IT GOING TO WARM UP thing? It's driving me batty. I just got back from taking the dogs out, wearing my very stylish WARM OUTFIT which consists of my flannel pjs, warms socks, fleece pants and a huge orange hoodie, my ski jacket, hat, gloves and snow boots. Man, it's a good thing nobody is around because I would stop traffic. And not in a good way:p

Arista - 3 lbs - WHOOT WHOOT! Yippee for you.:) How go the wedding plans?;)

Mariah - have a great morning! I was exhausted last night too. I actually took - wait for it - A REST DAY!

Okay, I better go start getting ready. Really, I just wanna go back to bed. *sigh*

Morning haters.

Mariah, you are certainly right about Catheland being an addiction. I've tried to tear myself away several times, but haven't been able to. It almost killed me a year ago when I was on vacation in a computerless place for a week.

Corrie, thanks for sharing your wonderful story. Hugs and prayers for your Mom. I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer about 10 years ago. It was so painful.

August, it's cold here too. But after tomarrow the forecast is for spring to finally arrive.

Gotta run. I have to stop for gas before work and drop some books off at the library.

Later haters.

*waves wildly to Robin* HI Robin!!!

And Michele????

"Nobody in their right mind likes getting naked and being poked "

Well now I think it really depends on who you're with:p

Corrie - thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm glad your mom is doing so well. My mom suffered through lung cancer too and the removal of a lung. Unfortunately, though she made it through that, about a year later, she started suffering again and passed away in June 2003. I've lost just about my whole family to cancer and my sister had a double mastectomy in 2003 due to breast cancer. I figure either I'm doomed, or I'll live to 103.

Okay, now I REALLY have to go get ready for work!

Goodmorning Shelley. We must have been posting at the same time. Great minds etc. LOL about getting naked and being poked. Works for my DH.

{{{hugs}}}to Corrie and Shelley. Life can be so hard. Here's hoping we all live fully and happily until we die.

I got to work after driving through the thickest fog I ever encountered on top of the mountain. (There is a smallish mountain between my home and Williamsport, where I work) It was scary. I could barely see the lines on the side of the road and there were a couple times I wan't where I thought I was, if that makes any sense. On top of that, it was kind of slick from the fog and yesterday's snow and rain. I'm so looking forward to next week when above normal temps are predicted.

So I'm in the darkroom today and have hardly any work. My supervisor is off, so I intend to hijack her computer for fun and games today. Maybe I'll even catch up on the personals.

Hi Haters!!

I am only sort of MIA (mariah)....I've peeked in from time to time and written a line or two... But I'll do better today!!:D

Corrie, welcome and nope, I didn't read your post as being a downer. Your mom really has struggled and been through it all but it's a story of love and perserverance (help, where's spell check?! )& I think it's awesome that you shared it with us!!!

August, did you finally get some sleep??? I love your new smileys!!:p

Shelley, do you go to the doctor regularly? You probably do unlike someone ELSE here, who will remain nameless. (but we all know who you are!!!}( )

Thanks Michelle....

See? I'm horrible at this. How do I bring up other posts so I can look off of those and respond on here?

Hi to everyone else!!!
What's everyone got going on today??

Becky - hi! The easiest way is to open two browser windows - one to post in and one for reference:) And, um, no I don't go to the doctor as often as I should. I think Jen and I are much alike, from the sounds of things.

Robin - your fog sounds really scary. I hate not being able to see the lines on the road. I hope it clears up for your drive home. Yay for being able to play today!

I'm absolutely foul today. Just so you know.

Good morning!!

I barely slept a wink last night and I'm so tired this morning, I'm not sure how I'll get through the day. August, scoot over and make room for me on that couch! I have GS BSB on tap for today followed by 30 min of interval cardio (walk/run, but I'll hop on Eli).

August, it's cold here, too, but at least the sun is shining this morning. It was ugly outside yesterday -- rainy and windy. You're cracking me up with all the smilies -- I especially like the little ice cube man:7 . --I...I want that sofa. I want it now. It sounds very comfy and I love curling up on the sofa with a blankie. --And yes, by all means rest. I don't know about you, but I can always tell the difference between merely not feeling like doing cardio, and no power on earth could make me do cardio today. When it's the "no power on earth" feeling then I skip it.

>>Awesome sofa. I can't wait for my nap! Love my job.

What did you say you do again -- LMAO!

I think I may need to burn my WARM OUTFIT:eek:

>>Though I do like bad-mouth dirt a lot, too, so everybody, please post those, as well. Let's keep it balanced.

ROTFLMAO!

{{{{{Corrie}}}}} I agree with August and I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to post. I was truly moved by your story.

Hey Arista!! I'm glad your studying is behind you and you'll hopefully have time to play today. I just hope your PMS won't interfere -- lol!

I haven't seen Babel. The previews didn't appeal to me and based on your critique, it looks like my first impression was correct. I've gotten pretty picky in my old age about the movies I'll watch. I don't like anything that will leave me feeling depressed when it's over. There's so much junk coming out of Hollywood anymore that DH and I have taken a fancy to foreign flicks. We prefer to pass on all the special effects for more story and content. --WOO HOO on your 3#'s!!

Mariah, I love to "watch" cardio DVD's --lol! Actually, I often watch a cardio DVD while I'm on my elliptical, especially if the music is good, like on several of Cathe's DVD's. I also like to watch them while on the couch cuddled under a blankie. --Are you feeling better today? --I completely agree with you about the addiction to this thread;)

Shelley, I'd pay to see you in that get up -- LMAO!

>>And Michele????
"Nobody in their right mind likes getting naked and being poked "

ROTFLMAO!! ROTFLMAO!! I actually thought about this remark several hours after I posted it and was lol about it. The whole double entendre was totally lost on me until about 3 AM.

Robin, I'm so glad you made it to work OK. I'd be askeered to drive over a mountain in the fog:eek:.

One of the reasons I quit going to the liberry is that whole dropping the books off thing. I was really bad about it and I got tired of handing over my money.

Becky, it took me about a year before I figured out that I can open a thread in 2 windows, so that's what I do. I still get overwhelmed when there's a lot of posts to read through, though. We love having you with us. You fit right in seamlessly! Now, pony up that cinnamon coffee cake recipe :p :9

I'm starving!! I'm off to scrounge up something for breakfast. I'll BBL:*

My Daughter's Favorite Coffeecake
(add nuts to the streusel if you like them. She doesn't, so I leave them out)

2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 t vanilla

Streusel topping:
1/4 cup flour
2/3 cup sugar (I use dark brown)
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 cup butter

Make topping: combine all dry and cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside

Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour 13x 9 pan (I use slightly smaller pan for a higher cake. if you do that , you might need to add a few minutes to your baking time)
Combine flour, sugar , baking powder and salt. ( I love cinnamon and add a little to the batter) Cut in butter, crack an egg into a measuring cup, add milk to make 1 cup. Stir in vanilla, pour into crumb mixture and mix just until moistened. Spread into pan , top with streusel.
Bake 25-30 minutes.

Hope you enjoy!
:9

>I have GS BSB on tap for today followed by 30 min of interval cardio (walk/run, but I'll hop on Eli).

See...I knew you guys worked out in hatersville sometimes!!!

Briee (I've got to get back to my chinner's and donuts - bye guys!!)

Good morning haters... I'm going to look at yesterdays post to catch up on that this morning while I do personals.

In the meantime, I'm sad to report that not another ounce has shed itself from my body since Saturday. All that hungry for nothin. But, I'm not working out much (a 20 minute dog walk and 10 minutes of raking? Come on! You can do better than that Arista!) I'm going to have to work hard to fit it in my schedule, but people have overcome more I'm sure.

And in response to Mariah's question (I think), the only food of theirs that I eat are these nummy protein bars. I can have two each day and they totally smack my sweet tooth in the private area. lol I'm sure that didn't make any sense, but you get the idea. The rest of the day, I just follow recommended portion sizes and amounts. Two proteins, two starches, 3 fruits, 3 veggies, 1 fat, not much salt, 1 dairy and two bars.

Heather: <<Shelley, I am so glad I can add some joy and laughter to your day! I have not forgotten about the futon story by the way. I am just trying to figure out how to word it so I do not sound like a total nut!>> LOL Don't worry Heather, we already know you are... we all are. That's why we're here. You are a crazy shoe-monster!! I love it.

Shelley - I'm so glad you have a fun weekend planned! 300, that's definitely a guy's pick, but I'm with you on the just doing something together thing. There aren't very many good movies out right now it seems like anyway.

Jen - How was your mental health day? Do you feel less mentally unhealthy now? OK, that totally came out wrong. I mean are you happier and more excited to tackle the work? Wow, I think I need a mental health day! Hows the tum-tum? You rock with your workout schedule you animal.

Michele - Sorry about the nasty phone-day you had yesterday. I hate spending time on the phone. If I get it done online, I'm happy.

August - I have never taken a nap in my whole entire life. I didn't even nap as a kid. I envy your laid-back-ness. I love the step as foot rest idea. Hey, maybe my step could become my new printer stand!

Dana - I'm sorry about the treadmill debaucle. (sp?) Good job on getting back on track yesterday... I wish I could say the same. Why is it so friggin (or firggin, whichever you prefer) hard to workout consistently? I applaud you.

Mariah - Thanks for the inspirational post. Need that at least once a day! And I'm SO with you on the chocolate. Buying it a week ahead? Never would last. I hope your cold has decided to calm down today and let you feel better!

MSY - Your twins sounds adorable.. but I can understand the clingy thing getting old. I'll come over there and watch them for a while, k?

Diane - That's too bad about the vacation. I'm crossing my finger that you guys will find a way to have at least a small one before the baby. OR at least take some time off of work to enjoy each other before #3 makes its entrance. I'm also crossing my fingers that Ryan and I will be able to afford a honeymoon... Do you guys think its totally awful to ask for cash instead of wedding gifts? We SO don't need any more crap in our tiny house. But we are short on the moolah. LOL I know, Its bad, isn't it?

Terri - What reads the scale on this fine morning? I hope you're in a terrific mood either way!

Deb - HI! What's up?

Corrie - Thanks for sharing that story about your mom. She must be super strong to have gone through ALL that and still come out on top. Its good to get that stuff out every now and then and this is the place to do it! We can all relate in some way I'm sure. My mom died of cirrhosis of the liver when she was 48 in 2002. We had an up and down relationship all my life and it makes me sad that we'll never be able to have a good mom and daughter relationship... shopping, talking,etc... It is such a blessing to have had the special times with her that I did. That must've been such a hard time for you being pregnant and dealing with the bad news about your mom.

This thread is full of strong women! I love it.

Becky - Hi! What's up?

Robin - Oooh, I hate bad driving conditions. Thats why I want to move somewhere where its always warm and sunny!! I'm glad you're at work safe and sound.

Briee - Enjoy your donuts and workout!

I hope I didn't miss anybody... so please let me know if I did. I'll BBL. I do have to get some work done today before I have a free day. Working from home is good AND bad. Sometimes I just wish I could leave my work behind me. I guess I'll just have to leave the house! What a novel idea!

:* :*

I've been shopping this morning:D

I went to www.tworoadsfitness.com and bought some new workout clothes. Mine are all but falling apart and I haven't purchased new w/o apparel in about 5 years:eek:. I got 2 pairs of shorts, a top, and a couple of pairs of socks. This is a really nice site for women. You should check it out.

Becky, that coffee cake recipe looks delicious! Thank you so much. I have family coming from LA the end of April and I'm going to make this for brunch one morning, or a dessert.

Hey Briee, you're getting to be a regular!! Oh yeah, yeah, we work out like CRAZY...but we hate it.

I thought about you Sunday morning when I drove through Tim Horton's and got an old fashioned glazed donut to have with my morning coffee.

So how many chins can you do now?

Have you heard anything from Melody? I miss that girl so much!! This place just ain't the same without her. (Pardon my poor English, but sometimes "ain't" is the only word that'll work):p

Arista!!

>>Two proteins, two starches, 3 fruits, 3 veggies, 1 fat, not much salt, 1 dairy and two bars.

How big are the servings?

Wow, only 2 proteins? I'm not sure I could do that. I don't eat meat at every meal by any means, but I need a little protein with each meal in some form or another.

I wouldn't worry that you haven't lost any more wieght. You're off to a GREAT start and, since you don't have much to lose, it probably won't come off fast.

It's d-e-b-a-c-l-e :p

Heather, where are you this morning. You've gone and gotten us used to your early morning posts and then today you're a no show. I think you ran off somewhere in your new shoes and bathing suit :p . Or maybe you went back for those dancing shoes!

MSY, I hope my answer about putting your darlin DD's in the back yard didn't offend you. It was my miserable attempt at humor. There's probably a reason God didn't let me have children:eek: . If I ever see my DH again I'll ask for his opinion on the matter. I'm sure you can relate to his schedule -- he got home around 10:30 last night, scarfed down dinner and then passed out in bed. Of course, he's been having all kinds of trouble with GERD and I've been trying to tell him he has to stop eating so much so late, and then going straight to bed. I wish he'd take a minute to grab something at work on these late nights, but he never listens to mex(

I remember my sister feeling absolutely exhausted all the time when her twin boys were toddlers. I don't know how you do it with the demands of your profession. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Terri, I hope you'll share your ideas for the big client with us:D :D :D . I would LOVE your job!!

Hello to everyone else!

I need to get to that workout while I have a little steam in my engine.

Good morning haters! So when are we going to have our official haters reunion in Maine? How great would that be? The place where the cottage that I posted has (I think) 16 other cottages but most of them only have one bed. When, yes when, not if, I will the lottery, I’ll treat all of you to a vacation and lots and lots of lobster. (except for Michele, she can have steak)

Last night I did Pure Strength Chest/Shoulders/Triceps and added on some abs. Tonight will be B&G timesaver premix. I decided that I’m going to do a 3-week S&H rotation starting on Monday. I haven’t done that series in ages. I’ve never done it long enough to see any results so I’ll give this a try.

We are having ANOTHER luncheon at work tomorrow. This is getting to be a monthly thing. So I’m thinking about making those BLT tomatoes Jen posted. I’m going to the grocery store at lunch. It was those or either pasta salad. What do you all think? Oh I typed this before I went to the store. I went to the store and I decided on Jen’s recipe. You can’t go wrong w/Jen. LOL

OK – about DH and the truck. I got home from work on Friday and he says, I’m buying a new truck. And I don’t mean a different truck, I mean a new 2007 Chevy (don’t know the make or model). I know that his truck was starting to give him problems and he still owed $10,000 on it – which the dealer is paying off. Plus he wanted to switch from diesel to regular fuel. I guess he is picking up the truck today, I don’t ask. He is the one paying for it. Oh, then a while back he told me that I could have the income tax $$ b/c he knew that I really wanted a dog. Well, we got our taxes done yesterday and he is insisting that we use our return to pay off my car. Why does he have to be the sensible one this time??? I am usually the sensible one and he wants to buy toys. I just want to buy a dog. LOL and a fence for the dog, and a treadmill, and some new lawn furniture, a BowFlex, a vacation, a trip to the spa, and some new clothes. Why can’t I?????? See I can find much better things to buy then pay off a bill. HA!

Corrie – I was almost in tears reading your post about your mom. She sounds like quite a fighter. When will your DH be home again?

August – I have never even heard of a couch like that. So then do you buy pieces to add on? I didn’t know you had a brother?!?! Does he live in Oregon? Do you have just one brother or do you have other siblings?

Robin – we didn’t have any fog today but the snow yesterday was messy. I hope that was the last of it. Isn’t tomorrow the first day of spring? And by the way, your darn groundhog was wrong this year. I knew there was a reason why I hated them. LOL

Michele – Yippee! You’re getting new workout clothes. You realize that you’re going to have to workout now. LOL

Terri – good luck with your client today. I know you’ll be a hit.

Mariah – what Beach Body workout did you get?

Shelley – awww, I bet you looked cute this morning. LOL

Arista – what are you doing on your day off? You’re off right? Well you’re always off right. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like you’re doing great with your eating. Ya know, when you aren’t following any particular eating plan and eat what ever you want and then decide to start a structured eating plan, you seem like you are starving. I think it is probably a mind thing. I do the same thing too. Or you could be like me, and were just eating too much. LOL

Jen – How are you today? I’m making your tomatoes tomorrow. Don’t do me wrong! So far, you’ve been right on the money with your recommendations. LOL

MSY – your girls are about the same age as my Gannon and he is doing the same thing. He is fine in the morning, fine when I drop him off at daycare but in the evenings he wants mommy. He will sit on my lap on the couch for at least an hour and the minute I try to put him down he throws a fit. He isn’t like that with DH though, just me. It is even worse on the weekends. I’m no help but I can sympathize with you.

Kara – Hello!

Becky – that coffee cake recipe looks yummy!

Debfer Georgie Boy Costanza – waz up!!!!

Heather – where are you!

Hi Briee!!!!

Talk to you all later!

Dana, I think you can't go wrong with Jen's recipe. I haven't tried it yet but just reading it made my mouth water. DH's sister is coming for a week or two around the end of April and I've been collecting recipes for things to make while she's here.

I hate, HATE spending money on cars!! I would much rather have a vacation, or any of those things you mentioned.

Yeah, I know...I'm hoping the new workout clothes will give me the encouragement I need to stick with my plan. Oh wait, do I have a plan?

Thanks for cooking steak in Maine:7

Do you like the PS series? I've been debating about that one for eons. I was thinking I'd skip it since I have GS and S&H.

Diane, I've been thinking about you and I believe in my heart of hearts that you and your DH should take a vacation regardless of your tax burden. It doesn't have to be anything grand, but you should get away together before your little one arrives.

No, I haven't done my workout yet, but I'm going--sheesh!
