HATE - Feb 4

August

Cathlete
Happy Sunday!

I looked at my rotation and was surprised to find that today was a rest day! So surprised in fact, that I did 30 minutes of cardio nevertheless. Yes, that surprised.

And it's a good thing, because I met a friend for lunch. He's in town on business and he wanted to go to a restaurant he'd gone to years ago, so we searched unsuccessfully until I was so famished that I was ready to eat just about anything.

And anything turned out to spell deep-friedthing.

So I'll consider that my major cheat meal. Not that I count anymore. Heh.

Robin - Hope you have a great time in Finger Lakes! Why on earth is it called Finger Lakes? Should I ask?...Step Heaven is the one you think is most complex? Okay, I'll leave that one for later LOL.

Dana - So what do you suppose comes included in that $15 cover charge for the chocolate festival?...You know, I kind of did enjoy the Core Max. I don't have a medicine ball, so I've never really done #3. Or maybe I did do it and tried holding a weight, but it didn't work for some of the exercises or something like that...Do you remember when Martin Short was on Saturday Night Live? He had a sketch where he would dance around flailing his arms in the air with his shoulders scrunched up and his legs going round and round? I think his hair was a la Alfalfa from The Little Rascals. Somehow I vision him when I vision myself dancing LOL....Your mom probably wants to look after both of your boys, but maybe she doesn't feel confident on being able to keep a watchful eye on both, and doesn't want to fail in the responsibility. Hopefully your MIL will be able to take those guys on.

Arista -

>I'll have to try that gym style workout series. Does it require any special equipment (besides step, dumbbells, and weighted bar?)

It requires mongo muscles. LOL. Or at least mongo patience during the pushups section. If you think you hate pushups now, just you wait!....LOL about your own chocolate festival. What'd you buy at the store? Hmm? Hmm? We want details. Okay, well, I want details....

Jen - I hope you had a great time bumming around! Did your house get clean or did your sofa get warm?...The story about your grandmother was touching. What a great way to pass away. She must have felt so calm with her family there and you holding her hand to comfort her.

Terri - Holy moly, I would not fare well in those wind-chills. You must be wearing all the clothing you own!...I hate planks so much that I've just given up on them. I figure I'm exercising, and there are plenty of things I like to do, so why torture myself? Cathe has them in so many of her workouts. I guess they must be really great for you. Urgh. I probably should force myself to do them....I'd love to help you with your song, but unfortunately, I don't have the new series so I can't give it a listen. Does the song have any intelligible words in it? How did you explain the song to the DJs and the guy at Big Beat?

Christi is a step and hi-lo instructor, and she is known for her dancy, complex choreography. Now, if someone had written that a year ago, I'd have stayed faaaaaaaaaaar away from the woman, but in fact, she's a total blast. These words coming from a (former  ) cardio hater! Something about her personality and routines really click with me, and I am forever grateful to her for opening up a cardio door for me!...Oh, Deuce is totally cute! I had a big boy dog who came to join our family after we had our three girl cats, and he was clearly the lowest rank, poor guy. If he'd get too hyper, our oldest cat would go and swat him one....Last year when I was really into kickboxing, I got a jump rope that had a special function that told you how many jumps you'd taken because I thought it would be fun and I would be cool. I returned it a week later. The function was obviously BROKEN. LOL. All right, so it wasn't broken, but the jump rope was possessed or something.

On that note, work, here I come! Have a nice Sunday!

Good morning haters...

August - It's so funny that you brought up SNL in your post, because I'm watching it right now. I'll admit it - I think Martin Short is quite hilarious, although I don't remember that particular skit. I'm sure you look better than that while you're dancing though. I'm going to have to try out these Christi workouts... they really sounds like fun! One of the skits that cracks me up on SNL are the ones where that lady plays the TARGET sales associate who's ringing up people's items. Her accent cracks me up! Where is she supposed to be from?

Your fancy jump rope sounds RAD! Too bad it didn't work. LOL!!

Yuck! I hate pushups, but maybe the Gym Style workouts are just what I need to get stronger in that area. I don't mind planks too much - I'd rather do planks than crunches.

Terri - Deuce is adorable. Aaaahhh... My sky is half german shepherd too. Sometimes I feel like trying to entertain 2 dogs and 2 cats in a 1000 square foot house is really good training for being a mom someday. Man, they sure can be pushy and whiny!! I know what you mean about being "a big baby". They know what they want, don't they! And my cats definitely rule the house... the dogs don't stand a chance. My Gandalf likes to groom Sky's ears and head with his tongue. If I ever get a picture of that, I'll post it! So adorable.

Jen - I should get a crockpot. I'd love to try those wraps! Yum. I know what you mean about living in a place where people care about their looks. I live in northern Washington, so I'm right there with ya! I think in the colder states, people don't show their bodies off enough to really care THAT much. I look forward to winter for just that reason!! LOL It's about 15 degrees here right now, but nowhere near as cold as Terri's neck of the woods.

That's a really nice story about your Grandma. It sounds like she lived a very full life and died peacefully. My mother died in the hospital and I wasn't able to be with her in her last moments and that was tough for me to deal with for a while. I didn't really have a super-duper childhood, so maybe part of me wants a chance at a really good family life. But the other part of me is right there with you... 18 years is a HUGE commitment! And while I don't mind kids that much, I also enjoy NOT being around them. I'm sure its different when they're your own. Although I tend to be a control-freak, so I could really mess my kids up I think!! LOL I guess if its meant to be, it will happen.

And no, I didn't walk the dogs, I was a lazy bum yesterday. Well, that's not true - I had a lot of homework and work to do. So its back on the horse today.

And speaking of horses... I LOVE the Lord of the Rings! I'm sure I've already said it, but since Terri brought it up again, let me reiterate. Aragorn can say whatever he wants to me, as long as he wears that long hair and stubble. Oh baby! I guess its the country girl in me... I love that rustic look! And Elijah Wood's pretty cute too. I think I've watched those movies a hundred times.

OK, I need to go get a Sunday paper because I'm looking for a new job. This part-time gig isn't cutting the mustard (or the bills). Hello to everyone else! Have a great Sunday, BBL :p

Hi Haters. I'm back from our get away and trying to get the house cleaned. I decided I needed a computer break. We had a nice relaxing time. The Finger Lakes are a series of, yes indeed, finger shaped lakes in New York. I think they were formed by glaciers. They are long, deep and skinny and create perfect conditions for several types of grape, notably Riesling and Cayuga (developed at Cornell just for the region.) The scenery is lovely, the people friendly and the wines tasty. We especially like Dr Frank's Winery and had pretty much our own private tasting with our favorite guy. Would you call him a somelier? A wine pourer? The tasting host? We call him Allen. Anyway, we came home with almost 3 cases of wine. Now to drink them. No workout again for me today. Tomarrow I'll be starting Cathe's Feb rotation. Think of me please. It will be a struggle. Got go swipe toilets with cleanser.

Good afternoon haters! I have been running errands, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc... today so haven't been on-line too much, think I am going to stay home for the game & have a couple friends that are going to stop by for a while, doubt they stay for whole game which is fine by me so I can get a few last minute things done before the work week starts again.

I just wish there were more hours in the day during the week, with being at the office for at least 8 hours, then w/o nightly which with changing clothes, showering, etc... takes a least 1 1/2-2 hours doesn't leave much time for other things. I am amazed at families with kiddies that also work full time jobs, workout, and still manage to have a great family- must have more energy than me or something~ you are all amazing women who manage that, pat yourself on the back.

Well today I did Cardio/Leg Premix of DrillMax, I love that premix. I also did 200 jumping jacks, for some weird reason I like doing jumping jacks, yeah I know I'm weird! ;)

I've been doing good w/ posting my w/o on weekends & it has helped so much during the week, I don't have to ponder all day long about what w/o will I do tonight...so here is this week:

Monday-Powerstrike 1 & thigh trimmer or another butt/thigh w/o
Tuesday- DM cardio premix w/ Bun Shaper (beachbody)
Wednesday-off night
Thursday- KPC
Friday- B&G Leg Blast Premix w/ floor work added on
Saturday-IMAX and maybe leaner legs or thigh trimmer (beach body)
Sunday-Drill Max, one of the premixes not sure which one, might do one i haven't done before if I can talk myself out of the Cardio/Leg premix I love so much!

Arista- Sorry to hear about your mother, hugs to you. I was a bum yesterday too!! I love being able to do nothing when I want to, another great thing about not having kids-if I want to sit on the computer all day & not move while I shop, I can!!! :)

August- What cardio did you do? Any cardio on an off day, WTH?

Robin- Glad you had a good time! 3 cases of wine, good for you. What type did you buy? And yes, you would call Allen a sommelier. Have you ever seen the shows on Fine Living w/ Andrea Immer? I know one is Pairings w/ Andrea but can't think of the other one she does, they are neat to watch.

Terri- Glad you liked Cindy...for a short w/o it really gets me sweating good, you? She has such an awesome body, wish mine looked like hers! My legs will never be as "skinny" as she is, just not built that way...x( Let me know what you think of KM done that way, I like it much better, the blasts get your heart rate way up there right at the beginning and then mine seems to stay higher for the combos w/ doing the blasts first than when doing the combos first. Plus the combos kind of ease the intensity down so when it is time for the leg work you aren't dying b/c you just did the blasts!

Dana, Michele, and anyone else I may have missed, hope you have a wonderful day and had good workouts!

Hi haters. It is really odd for me to be on the computer on a Sunday night. Gannon is napping and Gabe & DH are in the garage so I thought I'd get on the computer before cleaning up the kitchen.

Arista - I am so sorry about your mom. ((HUGS)). What kind of job are you looking for? Did you have any luck? As for kiddos, if you are unsure, don't rush into anything. I was 26 when I had Gabe and he wasn't planned. I wasn't sure if I wanted children either but now, I can't imagine my life without them. But having kids changes your life 100% - I am nowhere at all the person that I used to be. That is good in some ways but at times I miss the old me, ya know?

Jen - I know what you mean about not enough time in the day. Work days should be limited to 5 hours at the most, of course the standard 8 hour pay should apply. I think if I had a housekeeper I wouldn't feel so stressed. But then I don't know how I would feel having a stranger in my house???? Your workouts for this week look good. Can you believe that tomorrow is MONDAY??? Yuk.

August - I know that you dance better then Martin Short. Give yourself some credit girl. So guess what? I just did Totally Cool Step and I actually liked it. Now, don't get me wrong - I messed up a lot. There is this one thing where you do mambo up onto the step, straddle down, chop/kick, walk around, hamstring, basic. I CANNOT do that to save my life. I'm like, OK, I will just do a basic step while are all doing that other crap. Now after I read what I just typed , it sounds easy, but for me, it is not. I think that after doing it maybe 5 or 6 times, I'll be able to catch on. I don't add all the pivots and spins though. You hit the nail on the head when you said what you did about my mom. She said that when she has to watch both of my boys she doesn't feel comfortable. Gabe wants all her attention to play board games or to do puzzles and Gannon is running everywhere. She has an open staircase so she has to have eyes on the back of her head b/c he is so quick. I don't know why she just doesn't watch them at my house, we'll only be going about 5 hours???????

Robin - sounds like you had a nice trip yesterday. Did you stay overnight? 3 cases of wine????? So when is the party??? Isn't BodyMax 2 on the rotation for tomorrow? God Bless ya b/c I won't even attempt that one.

Terri - your dog is gorgeous!! I guess I should say "handsome" since he is a male. He looks like he is proudly posing to have his picture taken. What a ham! How was "date night" with your DH? What movie did you end up watching?

I was so mad at my DH yesterday. I told him that I wanted to do a workout later in the day (I was planning on doing the Christi w/o), well he went out in the garage from about 11:00am until who knows. I went up to bed at 9:00, fuming mad! I wrapped myself up into a cocoon and when he came to bed I told him to stay away from me!!! LOL Didn't do much today. Had my barley w/fruit for breakfast, then Gabe and I went to church and went to the grocery store afterwards. Big Mistake!!! Everybody was in there getting there super bowl party stuff. We had some friends coming over so I wanted to get stuff for lunch. We had hot and sweet sausages w/peppers and onions and pierogies. The couple that came over brought a store bought cake. It was an alien or a monster w/this bright blue icing. I did have some and my teeth & tongue were blue!! They also brought their ice-cream maker and made some homemade peanut butter ice cream. I didn't have any but they all said it was really good. Yesterday I didn't have to go to Wal-Mart like I thought. I found the construction paper and we did the project which turned out cute.

I think that tomorrow I'm going to do Low Impact Circuit. I only did the total body sculpt premix from it and I liked it.

I measured myself and although I am nowhere where I want to be, I was surprised that I'm not at big as I thought I was. I have not gone near the scale since before Thanksgiving. It is mean and not my friend.

Arista - I just took a break to go into the bathroom to wipe butt and clean up a poop mess from my 5 year old. See what fun I have!!!

So who's watching the Super Bowl tonight? Not me.

Have any of you seen the commercial on TLC where this lady is in her room trying on this black skirt and she says, "I can't believe this still fits". Then she goes into work and the front desk guy asks her where she parked her Delorian and she has on this yelllow power outfit from the 80's with huge shoulder pads? I crack up everytime.

Michele, Diane, Deb, Kate & Jana, hope you are having a great weekend. :)

I'm off to clean up the kitchen.

Hey Dana!

I agree with you on the work hours, 8 hours is too much! Either that or a 4 day work week instead of 5!

"I measured myself and although I am nowhere where I want to be, I was surprised that I'm not at big as I thought I was. I have not gone near the scale since before Thanksgiving. It is mean and not my friend."

This comment made me laugh! It is mean & not my friend...

:-( This is the reason I don't even own a scale!!!! Good job on being down on the measurments, that is what counts anyway, the scale goes up when you build more muscle, go by how you feel & how your clothes fit!

I have seen that commercial on TLC and like you it makes me laugh every time!!! I am watching the super bowl but kind of multi tasking also. I love Prince songs, not a huge fan of him in particular but I do like a lot of his music.

Sorry to hear about your DH being garage man all day yesterday. Were you able to get a workout in today? That cake sounds really good...PB ice cream sounds awesome as well! My work people had a "superbowl food day" on Friday, I was good though and only ate one pickle wrap, 3 mini cherry tomatoes stuffed with something-the girl is supposed to be sending me the info. on it, I know it had onions, scallions, garlic, bits of bacon, and sour cream or mayo or something that made it creamy, it was so good! I also had a mini piece of spice cake w/ buttercream frosting. Considering ALL the food that was there I did really good.

I may BBL before heading to bed~

Hello all -

I did a workout today! Woo-hoo! Just being around all of you gals who workout regularly has really inspired me. I think I'm finally getting in the routine of working out again. And even my pushups today weren't that hard. (although I wasn't doing a Cathe workout).

Jen - You are SO right! Right now I'm going to school and only working 3/4 time at work and I still feel like I have too much to do. I know that there are some gals taking the same computer science degree that I am at my school, who ALSO have kids AND a job! Good lord. I can't imagine. But thank goodness for the weekend and online shopping!! I'm right there with ya. Did you buy anything fun??

Dana - Thanks for the heads up about kids. Its helpful for me to hear about both the ups and down of it. And the one thing I keep hearing from everyone is that it changes your life completely. Yeah, I can imagine! I don't think I'm ready yet, and not sure I ever will be. Can't I just be an aunt or something?? If my brother ever gets a girlfriend... LOL! Are you and your hubby getting along again? Ryan and I fight so much, sometimes I wonder if we were brother and sister in a past life.

Robin - Your trip sounds like fun! I don't think you can go wrong with a trip to a winery. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow with your workout... that's a toughie! Take it easy... you won't want to keep doing them if you're completely sore and aching. Trust me, I just went through that and it nearly killed my motivation for working out. Kick some bootie!

I didn't watch the Super Bowl. Ryan went to his friends' house for the game and I'm going to knit all evening... I'm making a hat for Ryan, a scarf for myself, and a halter top to wear under a blazer (or on its own when it gets warmer out.) I should get homework done instead, but I have a hard time justifying too much work on the weekends. I did the dishes today, so that counts as work anyway.

Oh, and thanks for your sympathies about dear ol' Mom. It was almost four years ago now. My how time flies! I honestly can't believe this is 2007!

Good night,

Arista
