HATE - Feb 19

August

Cathlete
Gooooood morning!

It's 1pm here, and I've just finished Pyramid Upper Body. I hadn't done that one for ages. LOVE! I hope I'll be able to say the same about the Lower Body one, or else I'll have to switch to my Winsor Buns & Thighs midway. Heh.

Last night I went to a wedding party and paid $100 to go. It's actually kind of a typical price for that kind of after-wedding friends party in Japan - but you don't bring a present (it was at a jazz club that they had rented out). The $100 goes to all-you-can-drink/eat and BINGO prizes. Yeah, you read that right. BINGO. Don't ask me. I guess it's a pretty good deal if you're a mongo, mongo boozer and love oily foods. I laughed at myself for my $50 Perrier, $30 lettuce and mozzarella salad, and $20 tortilla chips on a paper plate. Then I had to leave early to go to a birthday party, so I ended up missing the wild party BINGO.

And what was placed right in front of me at the birthday party? A huge plate of assorted cheese! LOL. No cheddar though, much to my dismay. I thought about you, Arista.

OMG. Michele. That '80s Japanese exercise and English workout. It's so awful it's completely awesome. I'm going to forward the link to my Japanese friends because they'll all get a good laugh out of it. "Spare me my life!" LMAO.

I wonder if you're sleeping.

Wow. 103 and surviving major burns. How spunky and cool is that? That woman must know what's she's doing. I mean, really, reaching 103 - that alone is incredible.....I don't think I would be able to handle the emotion that comes with that work either. I admire your DH for having such strength. In the meantime, I'm sending good vibes his way in hopes he'll feel all better very soon.

>the only cookies they sell individually are about the size of pita bread and loaded up with a ton of gooey crap

Wait. I'm confused. Are we supposed to have a negative reaction to this sentence? Because I did not have a negative reaction to this sentence.

>I placed a large order of Cathe DVD's a few months ago and haven't had a chance to do them all yet. Okay, I've had a chance, but you know me.

LMAO.

Tapas? You know, you seem to have lots of good restaurants and food stores near your house.

Mariah - Wow, you get up at 5am to get to work? What time do you go to sleep? And are you able to eat breakfast at your workplace?

Shelley - Sooooooo, are you going to tell us what was on sister's menu the night you were there?

Robin - LOL about you and your plants....Are you knitting something in particular?

Arista - Sounds like you had a nice run. The doggies must love it!...And that was so kind of you to eat cookies for breakfast for Michele.

Jen - You Workoutaholic! I'd hate to see what kind of workout you do on a day when you're feeling completely healthy and energetic. Scary! LOL.

Terri - Hi! Thanks for the early good morning! Oh man, that totally sucks that you missed 6 good hours of Paris in order to McBarf. Two years ago I went to London for a week for business, but had most of the week free, so I changed a load of money into pounds, pulled out my big suitcase from waaaay under my bed and was totally ready and roaring to go for my sales season shopping spree, arrived in London and woke up the next day with the worst stomach flu I'd had since like high-school - the kind of flu where you just continually vomit for no reason at all. I ended up spending the entire trip on the floor of my hotel room.

LOL that you haven't had a Big Mac since. When I was a little girl, I had Burger King and got the flu immediately afterwards and haven't had Burger King since.

I guess what I'm really trying to say here is that I've barfed quite a lot in my life, come to think of it LOL.

Anyone have any fun barf stories?

Here's mine. I was in high-school with a bunch of friends in a car, and I was sitting in the back in the middle and got really car sick. Everyone started talking about how hungry they were, which made me more and more sick to my stomach. We pulled over at McDonald's and everyone raced into the restaurant to get burgers and fries, but I was so delirious with nausea, I walked around outside, spaced out and trying to get some fresh air. But instead I felt more and more awful, so I walked up to a wall to lean my hand against it for support, and then I started vomiting. While I was vomiting, I could hear people gasping out "oh my gawd!" and when I finally stopping throwing up and was finally able to look up, I realized that I wasn't leaning up against a wall, but that I was leaning up against the drive-thru window. LMAO.

On that elegant note, I'm off!

Have a nice day, everyone! :*

I think I should've posted my final note for Sunday night here... but I didn't, so you'll have to go back to the 18th to read it! ha! Time travel...

LMAO!! about your barf story August. The drive-thru window!!! OMG.

I don't have a good one. I mean there's the typical ones, but nothing funny. Just sad, really. :p

Those gals were lucky that I didn't show up to their little wedding party, that cheese woulda been gone or in my pockets! You don't waste good cheese. You just don't. If there is one edict that was set down by my ancestors, its that.

Oh, and dark beer. You don't waste that either. Man, I wanna live in Tokyo. Spokane sucks.

I need friends who I can talk to in person.

Nothing against you guys at all. But seriously. I can only talk to the cats and dogs for so long before I start to scare myself. :7}

Hiya, Arista,

Ahh, it's the iron stomach thing that keeps you and my mom from getting sick. What can you do. You're an excellently-made human. You'll have to work out in that case.

Even typical barf stories tend to be pretty funny, I think. Barf in general. Funny stuff.

If you start to scare yourself and get overly lonesome, just come on over to Tokyo and I'll introduce you to Mr. Choco Raisin, though I'll warn you, he's not very talkative. I'd introduce you to Ched, too, but....he's....gone. x(

:9

Goodmorning August and Arista.

I'll miss Ched. Maybe he has a good looking brother or two you can hook up with, August. Your parties sound like a hoot. Bingo! What, no kareoke? I don't have any barf stories. If there is one thing I hate to do, it's barf. No fear of bulemia here. I went through 2 pregnancies without throwing up once.

I'm meeting a friend for breakfast this morning. I forget who asked, but I work every third weekend. I have a weekday off the week before and the week after. I love having weekdays off, but I really miss not having 2 days in a row off. After breakfast, I'm planning on coming home and doing Power Hour. Then it's off to the hospital to visit Greyor. I hope we find out when he's can come home. I expect no later then Thursday.

I made plans to go shopping with a friend next Sat. I need a bedspread or comforter and curtains for the bedroom I'm re-doing. Then I can pick out a paint color. My friend has a pretty good eye for that sort of thing, and since I can't take Terri, Shelley or Michele with me, I just have to settle for her.

Michele, I hope your sinus/sore throat thing went away over night. My DH has yet another cold. And your DH gets home today? Yay. Now maybe you'll get a good night's sleep. That new restaurant sounds great. I don't think it would survive in my locale. The area is very provencial. We had an Indian place for a couple months, but it didn't last. The most exotic we have now is a Thai place, and it survives because the locals think it's Chinese.

Well, I have to go see what's happening in the OD forum before leaving for my date. Later haters.

Morning Haters!

August - thanks for the barf story. It went well with my cereal:p And a bingo wedding party, huh? That sounds...... interesting. I was at a club once and a guy came up to me and said (and I think it was supposed to be a pick-up line)... "Do you ever get stoned and go to Bingo?". Ummmmmmmmmm..... yeah, okay. I'll try to think up a good barg story. Does it have to be ME barfing?

Arista - I know what you mean about the 3D friends thing. I don't have any either. I have my sister. That's it.

Robinella! - What yummy thing will you have for breakfast?

Well, today I'm off work because I'm taking Sophie for a specialist appointment at 11:15. I'm going to take her to lunch after and maybe do a bit of shopping, then she has a dentist appointment at 3. I hope to be back later:)

ETA - could someone put up the link to the hilarious Japanese workout video? I can't seem to find it! Thanks.

Good morning!!

For Shelley and anyone else who may have missed it, here's the hilarious video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmbsSw81Uww

August, I'm sure your little barfing incident is the stuff of legend in your hometown and people are probably still talking about it, especially the kid who was working the window -- ROTFLMAO! I've racked my brain but I can't think of a good barf story. Most of my stories involve someone else barfing and me cleaning it up, a job hazard, I'm afraid. I do get barfy migraines, though, but I always make it to the throne in time.

I do have a good pee story. I peed my pants in the first grade when I was making my 1st confession (Catholic school). I totally forgot what I was supposed to do in the little booth and I was so nervous that I let loose a torrent of urine all over the little thingy I was kneeling on. I sure feel sorry for the poor slob who was behind me in line.

LMAO about your Japanese wedding party:7 . So, was there a good turn out? You paid $100 and they served you on paper plates? What!?...what!?...no sushi!? I never would've dreamed they'd serve that kind of food in Japan...at a Japanese wedding! I hope they had good Bingo prizes at least. :p

Arista, I think if we all had friends we could talk to in person, none of us would be here:eek: . I have friends but they either work, or moved away, or are busy with their kids.

Oh look! Robin has friends --LMAO! Robin, where'd you go and what'd you have for breakfast. I still haven't had my breakfast and I need inspiration. --I hope you have good luck finding a comforter and curtains for Tristan's room. --I'm thrilled that Greyor is finally off the vent and in a regular room. I'm sure it won't be long now before they discharge him.

>>The most exotic we have now is a Thai place, and it survives because the locals think it's Chinese.<<

ROTFLMAO!!!

I'm going to be fairly busy today getting ready for DH's homecoming:D. I can hardly wait, I'm so excited to see him! I've really missed him.

I slept pretty well last night but I'm clearly in full cold/sore throat/stuffy head/runny nose mode. I've probably blown a gallon of snot out of my nose in the last 12 hours. I probably won't do a workout but I will be cleaning house. Oh hey, I managed to lose 1.2#'s on the ww pecan chocolate chip cookie and brownie diet. Maybe I should post my new diet on the OD forum.

Okay, I need to eat breakfast and get started on my day. I'll see y'all later :* :*

ETA Dana, how was the banquet? Did you guys have a good time?

Diane, Jen, Terri and all -- have a good day.:*

ETA that somehow I forgot to wave at Shelley. I'm sorry. You know I love you:* :* . I'm praying like mad for Sophie's appointment. Please let us know how it goes. I'm sending lots of positive shopping vibes your way, too.

Hi everyone.

OMG August, your barf story is so funny. I have a few barf stories, not really funny ones though. Back in my early 20's I partied way too much, and I threw up a lot. I used to date this guy and he was such a jerk. We stopped seeing each other but he would still come over to my house b/c he was my roommates cousin and she was dating his friend. My roommate and I ate this big dinner (meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn) and then started drinking vodka/hawaian punch. I remember I got so sick I puked on him and he was freaking out screaming that she threw up corn all over me. Haaa - serves him right the jerk! Then the night that I met my DH (actually it was the 2nd time I met him) - that is totally different story. I threw up all over his bedroom. (which he cleaned up - can't say that he would do that today). But, I'm proud to say that I no longer really drink.

Anywho . . .

August - I never heard of paying $100 for a wedding party. Then bingo??? You really missed out on that one. Ha!!!! Hey, that Windor DVD you mentioned, do you need that ring thing? I saw one in Collage catalog but it may be the wrong one b/c it said you need the pilates ring and that was $24.95. I'm so sorry that Ched is no longer with you. It seems like we were just getting to know him and now he is gone. I hope you gave him a proper burial. Now I"m starting to worry about Mr. Choc Raisin. I hope he is safe.

Shelley - OMG the things that guys say and they think that the pick up lines are cool. What w/o are you doing today? Sounds like you have a busy day.

Michele - oh man, you are always feeling under the weather. Hope you are feeling better soon! When is your DH coming home? What a wonderful story about the 103 year old woman. My church is having 2 groups going to Honduras. Actually, the doctors are there now and then in the beginning of March another group is going. The second group is helping to build a church. The ant guy is coming tomorrow right? I hope he can put an end to your problem. Are you trying any new recipes this week?

Arista - you are so funny. Wanting to get sick so you have an excuse for not feeling guilty. I know what you mean about not having anyone to talk to in real life. I only have one real friend. Her and I have been best friends since high school. Although we have totally different lifes, we still hang out a lot. I'm glad that I have her in my life. Everyone else that I was friends with kinda drifted apart, moved away, etc. I'm glad that I can come on here - even though I've never met any of you, I consider you all my friends. I would love to visit WA some day. I have a friend that I met online and she lives in Yakima and I am amazed by the beautiful scenery in WA. Not to mention all the outdoor activities there are in WA. You mentioned that you lived in Philly? Are you originally from WA? How did you end up in Philly?

Robin - how is Greyor? Any word on when he is going to come home? He is such an amazing little guy. Have fun shopping. Where are you going? Do you have a thai restaurant in Montgomery??? There is one in Bloomsburg but I haven't eaten there. Have fun with your friend.

Mariah - do you have to be at work at 5:00am? Everyday? That would be so hard. Hopefully you don't live to far from your job.

Jen - are you home today? Didn't know if they gave you off for Pres Day. I'm home (going nuts). I think I'm going to order the new PowerStrike DVD. I have a few jars of change on top of the washing machine so I'm going to pack that up and see if I have enough to order a few workouts. Shhhh - don't tell my DH b/c it is his money that I always find when doing laundry. So did the snow let up? It is getting ridiculous huh?

OH I ALMOST FORGOT (((AUGUST)))) - TOMORROW IS FAUSNAUGHT DAY, AKA FAT TUESDAY, AKA DONUT DAY!!!!! YUM,YUM, YUM!!!! YOU SHOULD PLAN YOUR TRIP TO KK FOR TOMORROW.

Diane - how was your weekend? How are you feeling?

The racing banquet was ok. The food was really good. They had appetizers (brushetta, huge try of cheeses & crackers, chicken fingers, mozarella sticks and shrimp), then the main buffet (salmon, prime rib, lemon chicken, glazed pork, garlic mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, salad and rolls) and the drinks were (wine, beer or soda). The DJ wasn't that great but I wasn't in the dancing mood. My DH has a friend who lives out by us and he lives with is SO. I think that they've been together for like 15 years. Anyway, she is an alcoholic and you should've seen her. The bar wouldn't give pitchers of beer out. This was a pretty classy place. Every 15 minutes you would see her walking by with 2 glasses of beer (for her). After dinner was over, she just hung out at the bar. Then at one point she was out on the dance floor all by herself. OMG you should've seen her dancing. Too funny! It is sad though b/c drinking is her life. DH was up at their house last week to help work on a car and he said she could barely walk she was so drunk and this was at 3:00pm. DH said she was doing laundry in this condition.

Yesterday I got to sleep til 10:00am. I haven't slept that long in over 6 years.

I took a pic of my house - you know, the mass chaos of toys. I'll have to post it.

We're going to the store in a bit. I got my new WW cookbook and I have 4 recipes that I'm making this week and I need to get the ingredients.

BBL, have a Happy Monday all!:)

This is what my house looks like from the "two wild brothers":

I get to post early today - yeah!

August, weren't you so disappointed you weren't able to stay for BINGO? Funny reading about the different wedding customs - did they do the chicken dance? At my wedding my dad told my DH NOT to take off my wedding garter with his teeth and my dad was the highest bidder because he didn't want someone ELSE to take off my garter. So what does DH do? Exactly what bid daddy told him not to do!

Here's a good barf story: several years ago DH went over to his friends house to play Madden (that's PS2 football). Anyways, he drank way, way too much and I could just tell by the way he stromped through the house that he was drunk. He comes to bed and about 3 minutes later, I hear him in the bathroom. Well, after a while, it was silent and then I got worried. So I get up, open the bathroom door and there DH is, naked, and in a prone position, sitting on the toilet! He was totally passed out. Well, I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by, so I grabbed the camera. His late night forever lives in infamy.

I love, love Thai food. Shrimp Pad Thai is my fav...

I had a great workout today. It was Tear It Up part of the Slim Series from Beachbody. It was 78 minutes and by the time I was done, all I wanted was to eat. So I had yummy steel cut oats with a scoop of protein powder, a bit of brown sugar, cinnamon and fresh strawberries.

Robin: good luck with comforter shopping. I love changing up a room. You'll have to let us know what you find.

Michele: good news about hubby coming home. Too bad you have such a terrible cold. Puts a damper on the welcome home party, doesn't it? Or maybe not? And please give me the secrets for the cookie diet! Congratulations! What scale do you own where you can get tenths of a pound?

Morning, Jen (shovelmax again today?) Arista, Dana, Diane, Shelley, and Mariah. BBL to check things out.

BTW, I had a delicious flank steak with roasted tarragon carrots and potatoes last night along with a tarragon sour cream sauce. It was delicious and quite easy. It's from Cooking Light but I had to modify the sauce to lower the fat.

Terri

> This is what my house looks like from the "two wild
>brothers":

ROTFLMAO!!

Dana, I'm glad you had a good time at the banquet. I'm sorry about your friend with the drinking problem. I probably would not have been able to spend an evening with them. Heavy drinking is one activity that I have a very low tolerance for. I used to drink a little wine now and then but I don't even drink that anymore. The last time I had a glass of wine was on my B-day last year when a friend took me out for dinner. Now I just use it primarily for cooking.

You'll have to give us a full review of your new WW recipes :9

Okay, I'm really out of here now. I'm getting behind and I can't afford that today.

ETA a big hello to Terri. I missed your post, too. I don't know what's wrong with me today. Your flank steak recipe sounds delish! I'd love to have it when you get time to post it.:9

You got it; that was his last time. It really did him in.

Here's the recipe for the flank steak:

1/3 cup low fat sour cream
1/4 cup non-fat mayonnaise
2 tbsp. whole-grain Dijon Mustard
1 tsp. dried tarragon
1 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp. salt, divided
1/4 tsp. black pepper, divided
Cooking spray
1 lb. flank steak
1 (20 -oz pkg) refrigerated red potato wedges (I just fresh potatoes)

Combine first 5 ingredients in a small bowl; stir in 1/4 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp pepper. Set aside.

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Coat the pan with cooking spray. Srinkle both side of steak with remaining salt and pepper; add steak to pan. Cook 5 minuts on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Cut into 1/4 inch thick slices. Keep warm.

Wipe pan with a paper towl; return to heat. Recoat pan with cooking spray. Add the potatoes; saute 15 minutes or until browned and thoroughly heated, stirring occasionally. Serve with steak and sauce. Yield: 4 servings (3 oz steak, 2/3 cup potatoes and 3 tbsp sauce.

Roasted baby carrots
Combine 1 lb. baby carrots, 2 tsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and 1/8 tsp dried tarragon on a jelly-pan roll, toss gently to coat. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes or until carrots are lightly browned, stirring once.

Hi ladies -

Just stopping in. I have a busy day at work today. I will try to do personals later.

I am feeling okay today. I got a few symptoms back so I am not as worried as I was. But I still feel good, it is weird. I thought I was supposed to be super sick? My mom didn't get morning sickness until 8 weeks, so I still may have more sickness to come.

I went on two 40 min walks this weekend. I need to get back into my prenatal videos, but I just don't have the energy. Walking is the only this that sounds good.

DH and I visited in-laws and DH's aunt and niece and grandmother were in town. The neice is 9 months old and she was so cute. It was so hard for us (and DH's parents) to keep the secret from the family and not talk about the pregnancy, but I think it is best to wait. DH's mom is getting ansy to tell people.

Diane
I love your little ticker at the end of your post. Now we can all keep track of your progress. Sickness may come and go. By the time you're in your second trimester, you may feel pretty good, lots of energy, etc. Good for you on walking this weekend. Keep your strength up because you'll need everything you've got for labor & delivery. Plus, you'll be able to return to your normal weight more quickly. Were you all just busting at the seams not to say something?
Terri

Terri - DH and I are actually doing a lot better about not telling people that our family. I think that is because we had to keep it secret for 3 weeks before telling the immediate family, and it was such a relief to finally tell them. So we got that gratification of letting someone in on the secret. However, my parents haven't been able to tell anyone else, so they haven't had that same sort of gratification of finally telling someone.

Diane - Sorry you have another busy day at work, AGAIN! When are they going to give you a break? I like your little signature thingy. Its cute!

Dana - I couldn't have handled the drunk chick either. It just shows so much weakness and stupidity in my opinion. But I also feel sorry for those people. Where will their life ever go? Sounds like the racing banquet was a good time though. Mmmmm, cheese! And, yes, I was born in Washington and lived there until I graduated; then I followed my then-boyfriend to Philly. Growing up in a town of 500 people (seriously, my graduating class had 21 kids in it), Philly was quite a shock. But thank god I went because I really grew up a lot in those three years. Then I moved back to WA and met my current SO. Definitely like it here better, but the East Coast was fun for a while. I went to Temple University and made good friends.

Michele - Yippee about DH's return!! Did you really lose weight? You bi***! Just kidding, I love you.. but I got on the scale and had gained another half pound since yesterday. Gotta love premenstrual water weight!

Robin - I love going out to breakfast. Yum! Have fun!

Hi Shelley! What a great pick up line! I'm going to have to remember that one...
:p

Terri - That recipe sounds delish! You asked me about my roasted red pepper pasta recipe yesterday, but the turkey meatballs didn't turn out, so it turned into marinara with ground turkey (meat sauce), and I put some roasted red peps on top. Still good though! I used the Classico Spicy Tomato and Pesto sauce... yum!

Hello Mariah, Jen, and everyone else who may wander in.

OK, I need to do something with my day. Talk to ya'll later!

:*

DH just called and he's getting ready to board the plane:) :) :) :). He said he'd like to eat out tonight:) :) :) :) :) . I am so relieved by that because I'm not sure I have the energy required to clean house, go to the grocery store, AND cook.

Yeah, Dana, I have been "sick" a lot lately. I've always had kind of chronic sinus problems, but what really gets me is seasonal depression. I've noticed over the past couple of years that I become increasingly moody and blue during the winter months. I'm sorry if I've been complaining too much. It really helps to have you wackos to play with, though:p. I'll try to generate more sunshine and sweetness:p :7 :7 :7

Terri, that recipe looks fantastic. The sauce looks like a lightened Bearnaise. I may have to make that one day this week. --Oh and you better believe I found a scale that displays your weight in small increments --LMAO! If your weight goes up, it's nice to know it was only 1/10th of a pound. I got the scale at Target. I think it's a Healthometer with a digital readout. I love it when I'm not hating it (does that make any sense?).

Diane, I love your pregnancy tracker thingy :+ . I'm sure all involved will be relieved when you can finally let the cat out of the bag. I agree with everything Terri said.

Arista, don't even bother to weigh yourself during PMS. That's just crazy!

I'm signing off for the day. I have a lot to do and I get too easily sidetracked when I come here. I'll see y'all tomorrow:* :*

UGH, I'm procrasting - We're updating the website and I have to write content for the home page. I hate writing because 1) I s*&k at it and 2) I never know what to say. That's why I'm here posting again. DH thinks I'm busy HAH! Busy goofin' off!

Now, it's time to be productive - BBL!

Terri

Hi Terri - Writing does really suck sometimes, doesn't it? Unless you happen to be feeling super creative... And who has time for that?

But speaking of web design... I just got a call back from the guy at the job I applied for on Friday (the web production assistant)!! Woo-hoo! He wants to meet with me next week! I'm so excited. I finally get to have a REAL job updating and creating websites (probably).

Alright, that's my joy for the day... back to work. :(

BBL

Arista I should have you review my website? I have a designer who is working on it but I always need second and third opinions. Would you mind? Good luck on the potential new job!

And I have a horrible headache from all this writing. UGH!

BBL - my brother is interested in a new house and wants my opinion of it. I told him it's my job to be critical of houses; he told me he's really nervous about me coming but wants me to be truthful, just not in front of his wife who has a tendency to be a bit sensitive. I'll try to be gentle :) But I am his big sister and need to watch out for him, right?

Terri
