Cathlete
Gooooood morning! Good mooooorning!

It's great! To be awake!

Today was cardio day, so I put in Christi's Still Stepping. I was soooo into it, and I was thinking, I'm having the most awesome workout YEAH! And I was hopping around and totally into it and at about 45 minutes into the workout, I looked at my watch to find it had only been 20 minutes since I'd started LMAO. I couldn't believe it. I totally thought I'd be exercising for nearly an hour. Needless to say, I ended up doing only 35 minutes of it, but it was a good one nevertheless.

Wow, that's so great about the 5# challenge! Ched, Choko and I are routing for you all!

Terri -

>Your snow shoveling workout would be a best seller, especially if you wore your tiny shorts

LMAO. So true. And we should definitely put "your" song in. Since the artist has done such a great job of hiding whoever they are, I don't believe they deserve any payment LOL.

Oh, soba is BIG here. BIG. And it is pretty fab, and good for you. Problem is they don't serve it with much protein, unless you like tempura. Your seared tuna salad version sounds really great. What kind of dressing did you use?

Michele - It's so hard to imagine that someone would be walking their dog and then be killed by a falling tree limb. How truly horrible and frightening. I'm glad to hear that you and DH enjoyed VD and that he arrived safely at his destination.

The Super implied that I should feel free to stay somewhere else for a month while they do the construction, but what, I'm going to pack up my work stuff, too? There hasn't been any construction noises other than a bit of hammering and sliding, and the not-as-unnerving-yet-just-as-irritating tapping.

I do like the Winsor Buns & Thighs - it was one of my first DVDs I ever bought and though it has always been easy, I did notice a change, particularly around the waist (and yet it's Buns & Thighs LOL). I have some quips about it, but it's such an easy 20-min leg workout, and being that I hate leg workouts, it's perfect. Plus, the whole thing is done lying down. How could it be any better?

Yes, I do know what they say about men and big feet. It's the same thing they say about men with long fingers.

I was LMAO at your silly emoticons......FOUR HOURS?! HOLY SMOKES! Well, that's nice that you were able to give her a good conversation fix. I'm sure it really brightened her day.

Oh, KITTY! So cute!

Oh dear, this post is headed for longness.

Arista - LOL, I think you're right that Ched and Choko would not get along very well. They are from totally different sides of the fence. Then again, I've not seen Choko in so long, for all I know, he's converted....So, what's your favorite kind of cheese and favorite way to eat it?

Those earphones to which you referred are actually headphones, since the pad covers the entire ear! I'd never even thought about it until someone corrected me a couple years ago. And in fact, being the ultra-cool person that I am LOL I do have a pair of the pro ones! And let me tell you, they don't shut out the noise. Or are you talking about in-ear monitors which are earphones that fit inside your ear like a hearing aid? Those things shut out the entire world!

>I like the idea of setting a little mini-goal for the day. no nibbling is a very good one too!!

> My mini-goal is to get my upper body weight lifting in today.

LMAO! What happened to the part about nibbling?! LMAO!

You got the lingerie! You got the lingerie! You're awesome!! We want details. LOL.

Diane - I can see the quips coming from the other haters about "getting a little belly"! I know they're coming (I'm responding as I'm reading - that's how my posts become so dreadfully long). Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you haven't felt so bad that you've had to throw up.

Jen - Okay, now you're making me happy that I don't have to shovel snow. It really sounds like a major deal over there. Please do be careful!...20 minutes! Wow, that is fast action!! I actually drink hot herb tea all day long, so I don't see that technique working for me, but I'll certainly recommend it to someone else if anyone talks about it....LOL about your ex! How cute that he offered to help shovel.

Dana - Yes, Mom lives in my building, but I need my stuff to work, and said stuff is too big to move even across my own room. Anyway, so far no problem. If I can just get some more work done before they do the major RATATATATA, I'll have a week where I'm working outside. Then they can make all the noise they want.....Hey, don't make me yell at you. Don't you be taking medicines so that you can get to sleep. Worse case scenario, you should try green beans. LOL.

Mariah - What a romantic evening you have set up for yourself! I hope you enjoyed it mucho.

Robin - I like the idea of Dana telling her DH that her kids need "masculine" time. That just might make him perk up some....Okay, what's the pencil test?

OMG, what time is it? I think I spent all day working on this post LOL.

And away I go!

Have a good one!

Good morning everyone
August Yes I enjoyed my evening,
Its nice to know you can enjoy your own company
Maybe next year ill have different company, :)

im just checking in, leaving for work now, see you all when i get home

Hoping the snow has stopped for some people.
Its a cold 40 degrees here in daytona fla

Goodmorning all. So far so good on New Life Thursday and the 5 # challenge. Of course, I've only been out of bed for 30 min.

August, I hope the construction stays nice and quiet. Maybe Ched and Choko could sign on as workers and earn a little extra $$. Someone posted the pencil test on the open forum. If you can hold a pencil between your butt and hamstring, it's due to fat. I flunked.

Mariah, it has finally stopped snowing and blowing here. The sun is shining and it is beautiful. I'm off today, because I have to work the upcoming weekend, so I'm hoping to fit in a little bit of cross country skiing.

The plan (oh I hate that word) is to do B&G this morning, go visit Greyor this afternoon and then come home and maybe ski this evening. I guess that means I should get off my B and get started. Later haters.

Good morning!!

My DH arrived safely at his destination at about MN last night. He just called and is getting ready to head out to the landfill for a long, hard day of work. I'm not kidding about that. He is literally going to a landfill to treat sick children who actually live there in boxes, if they even have a roof over their head. I don't know how he does it. Maybe I'm shallow and too comfy in my digs, but I can't handle what he's doing. I'm definitely not cut out to work in those places but like to support in other ways if I can.

So this is New Life Thursday. It's cardio for me -- Eli to be exact. I weighed in (x( ;( ) and I'm ready to attack my goal of 5#'s. I'm not really putting a time limit on that, just that when this 5 is gone, I'll begin work on the next 5. Please don't ask me how many increments of 5 will be needed, kay? I guard my numbers like Fort Knox!:p :7

>Gooooood morning! Good mooooorning!<

>It's great! To be awake!<

August, if there's one thing I'm thankful for every single day, it's your joy and optimism...and your kookiness. LMAO! I mean, what a way to start a thread! I'm glad you enjoyed your shortened Christi. Shortened workouts are always the most enjoyable, IMHO:p .

Oh, it's too bad you can't take your super up on his offer for temporary digs, but I can see your point. Hopefully the noise above won't be too annoying.

Believe me, my whole neck and shoulder area are very tight and sore today. I actually got a little headache, literally from being on the phone that long. It was nice to talk to my aunt, though. She is such a sweetie and for reason's beyond my grasp, I am her favorite niece. I consider myself very lucky. She was always so great to my mom and visited her several times a week when she was in the nursing home. That really meant a lot to me and I know momma enjoyed having someone she could complain to about her horrid children --LMAO!

How is Ched doing? Is he still losing weight? LMAO

Mariah, you have a great attitude! I'm married but I'm alone a lot because my DH works ridiculous hours, so I know the importance of learning to live with and love yourself. I'm sure many positive vibes emanate from you. I hope next V-Day you will indeed have someone to share it with.

Robin, it sounds like you have a full day planned. Is Greyor still on the vent? I hope you can bring him home soon. That has to be so hard to travel to see him. He remains in my prayers, as do the rest of you.

I've never been on ski's in my life. I'm a chicken!! I'd probably break my neck. I'd be one of those people who hit a tree or something. BE CAREFUL!!

B&G -- o my favorite of Cathe's latest offerings but I haven't done it since it first came out. If I'm going to succeed in this challenge, I'm going to have to MAKE myself exercise on a consistent basis -- hard when I'd rather scrub a toilet ;(

Dana, Diane, Jen, Terri, Arista, Kate, Janjan (just in case you're lurking), and anyone else I may have missed -- have a great Friday Eve and I'll BBL. I have some online shopping to do:D

Alright gals... lets melt these 5 pounds off! I'm ready. I need to fit into those jeans again... considering I'm too broke to buy any more.

August - You're right about those 'quips' that we're going to throw at Diane about her 'little belly'. In fact, I'm going to start us off:

So, if you've already got a little belly Diane, I must be 6 months pregnant!!

Sorry, I really can't resist. Its in my nature to jest. Really, the joke's on me. If I can ever lose my belly, I might look forward to being pregnant!! lol

Personally, I'm a brie, swiss, provolone, blue cheese, feta... Crap, I just like all cheese - except Velveeta. I'm Scandinavian and German, so there's really nothing that I won't eat.

No, I was talking about headphones, I guess. Thanks for that little lesson, August! Heck, if earphones work better, use those! Its too bad you have to work from your house right now.

I know better than to make a 'no nibbling' goal for myself! That would be a surefire self-esteem killer. But I did meet my weight lifting goal. woo-hoo!

Ryan and I are celebrating VD today since he had to work all day yesterday. I'll find out if the lingerie works, or not...}(

Robin - <<So far so good on New Life Thursday and the 5 # challenge. Of course, I've only been out of bed for 30 min. >> LMAO! Hey, we gotta take all of those little victories, right? I had a high protein, low fat breakfast this morning, and I'm planning on salmon and salad for lunch. But its too wet outside to run, so I think I'll do a cardio/weight workout of some sort.

Skiing sounds like fun!! I snowboard and also cross country ski, but I haven't had a chance to go up yet this year.

Michele - No need for a time limit on the 5#'s. If we don't put too much pressure on ourselves, I think it will be easier and the quit-factor will be greatly diminished.

Mariah - I was solo yesterday for VD too, but I also enjoyed it! I think we definitely need to enjoy our own company before we can let anyone else in to enjoy it with us. 40 degrees in Florida? That is about what it is right now in Spokane (eastern Washington). Brrr....

Alright... Jen, Diane, Dana, Terri, and the rest - HAVE A SUPER DAY! I'm going to work for a couple hours and then enjoy my pseudo-Valentine's Day! :*

Hey girls! Where is everybody?

>>Personally, I'm a brie, swiss, provolone, blue cheese, feta... Crap, I just like all cheese - except Velveeta. I'm Scandinavian and German, so there's really nothing that I won't eat.<<

ROTFLMAO!! You must be related to my DH.

>>I know better than to make a 'no nibbling' goal for myself! That would be a surefire self-esteem killer.<<

Agreed! I am a nibbler, but I try to nibble on healthy stuff.

Arista, we expect a full report on the lingerie.}(

Here's the recipe I promised y'all. Enjoy!

WHOLE-WHEAT PANCAKES

Ingredients:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup whole-wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup low-fat buttermilk
1/2 cup non-fat milk
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Preheat a large nonstick griddle or skillet over a medium-low flame.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients (flour through salt). In another medium bowl, beat together the eggs, buttermilk, non-fat milk, honey and vanilla.
Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing only enough to combine them. The batter will be somewhat lumpy. Let the batter rest for approximately 10 minutes.

(If you like, you can add berries or nuts to the batter, or -- and this is what I do -- you can add them to the pancakes after you ladle the batter onto your griddle which allows for greater variety. I drop blueberries, raspberries, or chopped pecans directly into the pancake while the first side is cooking).

Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to ladle the batter onto a nonstick griddle or skillet (do not grease the pan). Flip the pancake when the top is bubbling and it is golden brown on the bottom. Then cook until the other side is golden brown. Hold on an oven proof plate in the oven until the entire batch is ready. Serve with your favorite syrup or use the optional pureed berry sauce (see recipe below).

Yield: about 10 pancakes

**For Pureed Berries:
16 ounces strawberries or raspberries (or 8 ounces of each), fresh or frozen (unsweetened, thawed)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons maple syrup

Puree the berries. Heat them in a small saucepan over a low flame until they are just warm. Stir in lemon juice and maple syrup.

Here's another pancake recipe. I've never actually tried it and I have no clue where I got it. I might have gotten it from someone on the forums or some website somewhere. They look kind of good, though. :9

Whole wheat & oat pancakes

1 c. whole wheat flour

1 c. old-fashioned oatmeal

1 Tbsp. + 1 tsp. baking powder

1 1/4 c. milk or buttermilk (I use skim milk)

1/2 c. water

1 egg (or 1/4 c. eggbeaters if you want)

1 Tbsp. canola oil (the original recipe calls for 3 Tbsp. but I just use 1T. & they're still great!)

Combine dry ingredients. Whisk wet ingredients together. Pour wet into dry & stir until mixed. Pour onto hot griddle for pancakes, use about 1/3 c. batter, cook & flip. I like them topped w/ peanut butter or my kids like a little light syrup.

Nutritional info for 1 serving ~ About 85 cals/ 2.5g fat/ 14g carb/ 2g fiber/ 4g protein

I promise I have a real belly, not just the little pouch that every women in the world has! I read that tall slender people can get a belly quickly. I had finally lost my pouch on ETL, then got preggo. I will probably never get that flatness back, I should have taken before pictures.

August - If you have to move out for a month, you shouldn't have to pay rent for that month, at least in Texas. Warranty of habitability or something to that effect. If it is so bad you have to leave, you shouldn't have to pay rent during that time.

Hello Haters! Wow, it is a quiet day around here, huh?

Well I'm going to make this short b/c frankly I have ZERO energy to do anything but sit here & lurk tonight!!

I think shovelmax finally got the best of Jen & is trying to take her down! There is NO WAY I could've done IMAX or HST tonight, I would've died, I really think I would have. So, instead I did Mix It Up- one of the Slim Series from Beachbody. I hadn't done that one in a long time & Terri mentioned how she really likes that one so thought that would be good for tonight. It hit the spot almost as well as the Kaluha & hot chocolate I'm about ready to have will. I needed something to try to help stretch out my shoulder & neck, it is getting very sore & stiff from all the shoveling.

Of course I did my 200 jumping jacks & walked 2 miles today also.

So, how is everyone else?

Robin & Michele- Surviving the cold & snow?
Terri- Surviving the cold?

Diane, Arista, Mariah, and Dana- HAPPY THURSDAY!

I am working 7:30-1:30 tomorrow then running some errands, home to workout, then putting on my PJs & getting some much needed rest before my body decides I've pushed it to the limit.

BBL!

Thought this sounded yummy.
