Has anyone had this? Is there hope for me?

Let me do a little explaining about myself and then my problem and what I think I should do to fix it…I am open to suggestions if anyone thinks that I should do anything different to get better results maybe. I also would like to hear from anyone who had this problem and overcame it. It would mean so much to me. Thanks in advance.

Ok, I am 25 I weight about 119 I am 5’6” and I have a 3 year old daughter. My problem is not my overall body though I would really like to tone it up. My thighs are a little flabby but I know I have seen them change through the last year slowly but surely as I have worked out. My real problem is this pouch in my mid stomach particularly around my belly button. It looks like a gross orange because of all of the stretch marks that I have and it is really flabby and it sticks out.

In the last month I have really cleaned up my diet. I mean taking out all of my sugar foods (I still have like a cup of kool-aid here or there, and maybe a small candy bar on a cheat day, but I have my cheats in small portions). I have upped my protein intake through chicken, fish, egg whites…etc. I eat oatmeal, salads you know things like that…basically, well here is what my meal plan for this week looks like.. (I got this out of an oxygen magazine) I like to eat the same thing all week long and change it up for the next week.

Meal 1: 5 egg whites, ½ cup grits, multivitamin
Meal 2: 4 oz chicken, ½ cup brown rice, small salad
Meal 3: 2 scoops protein with water
Meal 4: 5 oz baked potato and 3 oz tuna
Meal 5: 5 oz baked white fish and 10 asparagus
Meal 6: Handful of walnuts

I have decided to up my workouts to look like something like this:
Monday: Push/Pull, Abs, 2 Mile Run
Tuesday: 2 Mile Run, Abs, Stretch Max I
Wednesday: Circuit Max, Stretch Max I
Thursday: 3 Mile Run, Abs, Stretch Max I
Friday: Step Blast, Push/Pull, Abs, Stretch Max I
Saturday: Step Blast, Stretch Max I
Sunday: Stretch Max I

I am not sure if this is even something like what I should be doing for what my goal is… I want an overall toned body but I want a kick-butt mid section! My husband comes home in 3 months and I want to look amazing for him so any advice I could get would be so appreciated. Thank you so much everyone!

There's always hope. :) One thing to keep in mind is even if you do everything "right" in order to get a killer midsection, sometimes our genes have other plans for us. Try as we might, and as unfair as it seems, we all can't look like Cathe Friedrich. Try thinking about your body a little differently. Your "gross" belly nourished and developed the beautiful daughter you have today. And I'm positive your DH won't notice your supposed flaws. Long story short, yes, you should take good care of yourself - fitness and eating well are worthy goals - but try to learn to love and appreciate your body, too.

With those height/weight stats, I'd guess you're somewhat of a 'thin-fat" person: not big (definitely not overweight), but with a higher fat percentage than ideal.

I agree with Sarah: you need to add some more intense weight work into the mix, and perhaps de-emphasize the cardio, which can burn up any muscle you are trying to gain (muscle increases your metabolism).

Wow, I just looked at your pictures and you look amazing!! I have to ask...do you have maybe a rotation or something in mind I could try? I wasn't sure if I should keep with lots of cardio and do weights as well or go heavy with weights and kick cardio down a notch or what because I had some people telling me that the only way I was going to get rid of my little pouch was do kick my cardio up...but I'm not trying to lose anymore weight you know? I definitely wouldn't mind having a body like yours...*giggles* Thanks for sharing with me...

So what you are saying is kick up the weights and kick down the cardio?

'Love every minute of what you do, otherwise, what's the point?'

>So what you are saying is kick up the weights and kick down
>the cardio?
>That's it!

And you might want to exchange one (or two, on non-consecutive days) cardio for an interval workout.

I used to have a "pooch". I still do to some extent, but my tummy has really flattened out in the past 3 months. I did a colon cleanse called Colonix (finishing it up in a couple of weeks), and while some people try to say it's hocus-pocus, I believe the proof is in the pudding. In other words, the program WORKS, and it's all natural and quite comfortable. I've lost weight, lost my "pooch", and stopped having headaches (among other noticeable health improvements). If you're interested in looking into it, visit www.drnatura.com and read the testimonials (there are two links for testimonials - one for older ones and one for the recent ones). You'll actually see my testimonial on there.

Again, some people criticize internal cleansing, and others firmly believe in it. Do your own research and decide for yourself whether it's worth trying. I know I'll be doing cleanses for the rest of my life, every 6-12 months!

Which one is your testimonial if you don't mind me asking? Was your pooch around your belly button or on your lower abs?

>What do you mean by interval workout?

Interval workouts are when you do steady-state cardio, interspersed with 'intervals' of higher intensity work that takes you close to your anaerobic threashold. You can do that with running (putting sprints in) or with a workout like any of Cathe's IMAX workouts (Interval Max, which is on the Rythmic Step+ DVD, or IMAX 2 or 3).
