Has anyone had a body wrap?

You know, like at a spa? I have never done this and am considering it, but want to get input on what the experience was like. I am not looking for any long lasting effects, but I am going on a spa vacation in a few weeks and some of the descriptions of the various wraps sound really nice.

Input anyone?

don't waste the $$

I had one, once (spa gift from DH). I was measured, then wrapped up tight in cellophane, then put in a big blue suit and left to dehydrate for about 45 minutes. After they pulled off the wrappings, they re-measured me and told me I had lost 7 inches (!). I asked where it went, and the girl talked about toxins leaving the body, etc. Then she told me that even though I was thirsty, if I drank any water, all the inches would come back, and not to drink anything for 48 hours. When I asked her if that means that I had lost the inches in water, she said no. I never understood how that could be possible.

I would recommend either a massage or skin treatment, but the wrap really seemed like a big scam to me. Just my $.02.

When it comes to spas, the only things I go for are the massages, facials, pedi or mani's. You can keep the wraps and the scrubs! I had a scrub last year and honestly I felt like I was laying on an autopsy table from CSI. Butt naked with 2 little "modesty" towels on a metal table - while a very sweet salon attendant scrubbed me down and then hosed me off. In that moment, I realized what it must be like for a dog at the dog wash. It was so not for me! ;) I'll take a nice relaxing massage while laying under a bunch of warm comfy blankets any day!

I wouldn't do one of those wraps where you lose all of the inches - it's so temporary it is a waste of money.

I did have a "seaweed massage" a number of years ago. Boy - now that was pure heaven.

I was talked into a wrap by a good friend she lost 5-6 inches and I lost nothing. If you don't retain water it won't do any good. Mine also had a horrible smell and I went home and showered.
