Has Anyone Done This?

Cathlete
The other day I felt the need for a REALLY high intensity workout so this is what I did:
I started with the Blast Mania from IMax 2 (without the cool down) and went right into all ten intervals from IMax 1 that I had grouped together from my video onto a DVD (I got a DVD recorder for Christmas)and did the IMax 1 cooldown. All 20 intervals plus w/u and c/d lasted a little over an hour and it was a smokin' workout!!! I use a 10 inch step (I'm tall and have never had any joint problems doing this, so that made it super intense.
Not for the faint of heart, but after you're done you feel like super warrior woman!!

Just thought I share with y'all...

Wow, that is all I can say is wow!! You must be a super warrior woman. I know when I did Imax 1 the other day, I felt like I was going to faint towards the end.

Wow is right, "you go with your bad self" is all I can say to that! Amazing, I'm totally blown away by what you did. Way to go!

Well thank you, ladies! In fact, tomorrow is another high intensity day for me, so I think I'll do it again!

Robin

P.S. I'm 48 years young and am in the best shape I've ever been, thanks to our Miss Cathe!!

Are you INSANE???

Hey..gotta ask...what does a DVD recorder do? Record from VHS to DVD or vice versa? Might have to have one...:)

Janice

Not only am I insane, Janice, but I did all 20 intervals again yesterday!! It may become a part of my weekly rotation!! I think I'll call it my III Max Workout (Triple "I") - Intensity Intervals for the Insane!

My DVD Recorder is made by Phillips and it actually can record my videos onto DVDs (but not vise versa) - for private use ONLY of course...but it is a great way to preserve some of my older videos as well as make some of Cathe's great workouts more accessable (no more forwarding and rewinding to the right spot)...chaptering Circuit Max, for instance...or putting all the weight work from CTX onto one DVD...tons of possibilities!

I find great results with Imax once a week or twice It's incredible how it has helped with running.

I found that when I did it more I burned out after a few weeks. RIght now I'm focusing on more of a running routine but I credit IMAX a lot on this.

Wow! My husband just this morning asked me if there was a way to do that. The space of the videos is way more than the dvd's. So, I assume that when you record your videos onto dvd, that it is just as programable as when you buy them direct from Cathe.com? I just hate the idea of repurchasing everything that I just bought. Also, the the recorder also play dvd's, or just record them. Sometimes I feel very techno, but times like this let me know I am not so cutting edge!

You would need DVD editing software to make chapters and/or premixes. It's a very time consuming process, so much so, that I wouldn't even consider trying to replicate what Cathe's DVD people have already done. Why not sell your VHS tapes on eBay, or similar, then use the cash to buy the DVDS? You won't regret it :)

- Lisa :)

Premixes, difficult - chapters, absolutely. I just play, record and pause and/or forward/rewind to make chapters - each disc holds 20 chapters or two hours. Its a great machine! It will never replace the incredible work done on Cathe's DVDs, but it sure is a great way to mix and match AND to preserve my precious, but definitely wearing out Cathe VHS tapes (I think Step Fit was about to give up the ghost entirely!!) And yes, Dani, it also works as a player - love it!

Robin,
What is the model number for the Phillips Dvd recorder? I would like to check that out myself since I have recently gone dvd and have some videos (my permanent collection) I would like to get transferred to DVD before they wear out.
Thanks
Sheila

Why thank you, Kathy. This workout is now a part of my weekly rotation and it is actually getting easier, although after I finish IMax2's notorious interval 9 I have to "cowgirl up" when I realize I have 11 more to go that include IMax 1's intervals 4 and 10! I have never been more relieved by a cool down (Thank you, Cathe!)

I did this workout on Monday after seeing this thread and being interested in it. It was great! I already love the Blast Mania Premix, and am really getting going and pumped by intervals 9 and 10, so adding on to it seemed like a good idea. I will definitely keep this one in the mix when I rotate the Imax workouts.

Thanks!

Kotacam - I did it again on Monday too! This is my fourth week and I love it. I've tried different orders and like this one: Imax1 warm up (love that warm up!) into all 10 blasts then straight into Imax2 Blast mania and then IMax 2 cool down. IMax1 gets me pummped by #10, then Imax2 eases me out (with a quick jump for #s 5 and 9). LOVE IT! Maybe Cathe would consider making a workout for those of us doing straight HIIT a few times a week??? A Super Blast Mania!!!

All I can say is you guys are crazy! It's funny because at first I thought you meant just 1 blast after the other for all ten blasts. My eyeballs just about dropped out of my head. Then I realized that they'd probably have the recovery inbetween, just no step routine right?

Right?

If not, and you are doing all 10 blasts (or 20) in a row with no rest, then you *must* be crazy!

hehe

Sure - it's all from Imax 2, of course. You do the warm-up, interval 1 aerobic portion, blast and recovery, and then in order, intervals 2-10's blasts and recoveries, then the cool down/stretch. Basically, it's just eliminated the aerobic portions of intervals 2-10. It ends up being about 40 minutes or so. I like it because you get sort of an extended warm-up.

Punky333 - Yes, the recoveries are included, but not the aerobic portions. I think *my* eyeballs would fall out of my head if we didn't get the recoveries!
