Would you believe I have never read a Harry Potter book or seen a single one of the movies. I've always wanted to--I don't know why I haven't. Do you need to see every movie in order for them to make sense?

Michele

Michele - in one word - yes. You could skip one or two, but each movie and book builds on the other, so you'll miss things. You can rent them all and have a Potter Fest! I'm sure have the people here would love to watch with you!

I cannot wait either!

Michele - you would probably want to watch every movie - the build on each other. Even better, though, would be to read the books. The movies are awesome, but there is so much more in the books that they can't include in the movies. Movie #3 is a prime example - they left a lot of important details out that might leave non-book-readers confused. The books are excellent - once you start reading, you won't be able to stop! :D

Thanks Emily and Christine. Well, I guess I have something to look forward to:D :D :D . Maybe DH and I can have a Harry Potter fest this weekend.

ETA in what order should I see the movies? I don't even know which book/movie came first

Michele

Hi Michelle!
You should definitely see the movies in order:
1-Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
2-Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
3-Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

As the others have said, they do build on each other and things will make sense for you. I agree the books contain so much more than can be fit into a regular movie....who knows maybe after watching some of the movies you will want to read the books as well:D

Michelle, if you like, I could act them all out for you, dialogue and all.;)

Sophie is a teensy bit Harry Potter-obsessed. Last year she went as Hermione for Hallowe'en and every house we went to, the people said "oh, you're Hermione from Harry Potter". She looked JUST like her. And no, of course I didn't take pictures.:p

Hey Shelley,

I would definitely pay for a ticket to that performance! :D I'll bet Sophie was adorable in her Hermione costume.

My DH can recite the dialogue from every single episode of Star Trek! :D

How's it going with the pooch? Have Gilbert and kitty come to an understanding? :+

Michele

Gilbert would love to be friends. Lizzy is getting there. She'll never be friends, but she tolerates him more now and doesn't hide so much.:)

I did the same thing but in reverse--I brought 2 kittens home to 2 older dogs. It took a solid 6 months before I could let the kitties be in the presence of the dogs without supervision. I'm not kidding. My one dog tried to kill them! Once the kittens were older and bigger they could hold their own. It was hysterical to watch. My cats would deliberately pester the dogs--then run like he!! }( It did finally come to the point where the cats and dogs would snuggle up together and take naps. I have some great pictures if I could only remember to have DH take them to work and scan them.

Michele

OMG that's so funny Michelle!! Well it certainly sounds like one big happy family now:) I have 2 cats and although it's been 2 years since the little guy came home, the older one still seems put out and traumatized sometimes!! Funny how two cats can sound like a herd of buffalo when they are chasing each other around the house:eek:

Another HP fan here! My 3yo DS went trick or treating as baby Harry when he was 7 months old! Very cute - we dressed him in black and made a lightning mark on his forehead. This year he's going to be Thomas the Tank Engine for the 2nd year in a row, but that's another story...
