Hi Everyone,

Ugh...it's Monday! I have a dental appt today, so I'm working the early shift. I only had time for BB Timesaver Leg & Abs workout.

Have great workouts everyone.

Hi Ladies!!

Didn't do too bad a the yard sale on Saturday. I had clothes and toys. I made $140. Things cannot be too expensive here or they wont sale.

How was everyone's weekend? I got my DH from the airport Saturday afternoon so I have been busy all weekend with him and the boys. I never even made it close to the laptop to check in.

Walking the boys to school this morning. Then I have to clean some of the house that I didn't get to over the weekend. I'm not sure about a workout this evening. DH is in Decatur today and I have no idea when he will be home (it is around 2 1/2 hours away). I hope to get something in when he gets home.

Is everyone feeling better today?? :)

I will check in later!! Have a great day!! :)

Hello and Happy Monday everyone!!

Well, I haven't checked in since Friday so I guess I'll pick up where I left off:

Saturday - 3.25 mile run, 30-minutes step aerobic class, Low-Max blast only pre-mix, Back strength training (pullups, BB rows, close-grip pulldowns, DB pullovers).

Sunday - 5.25 mile run, 3 mile walk (10% incline), Muscle Max core.

This morning I did KPC (cardio portion only) and gym style legs (excluding floor work).

I'll probably go for a run at lunch or do the elliptical...I'll check back in later and let you guys know what I end up doing.

Lora - Hope you appointment goes well...

Sabrina - I hope you can squeeze in a workout, I know you're busy...

Hi to all the follows...I'll be back!

Good Morning Ladies!

We had a very busy weekend too. The b-day party was a lot of fun. My DS said it was the best birthday. We had fun Friday night and thru the weekend playing with all his new stuff. Putting stuff together has gotten more complicated!

I still managed to get some work outs in over the weekend. Saturday - Muscle Max. Sunday - CTX - kickboxing (cardio only), KM bootcamp challenge, I then added on the Leg Conditioning Drills from KM. Right before bed I did a SM segment. I needed that.

Today, I plan on doing PLB and GSL floor work only, CM segment, and maybe some cardio. I may have to do cardio later. I have a lot to do around here today.

Lora ~ The neighbor loaned me her BB - Booty Ballet. Do you have that one? I only watched 15 minutes of it. I don't think that particular BB is for me, but am interested in BB DVDs. What should I ask her to borrow? She said she has a lot of videos. She wants to borrow one of my Cathe DVDs.

Marietta ~ you got some good work outs this weekend. Are you doing the Faux CTX rotation? How is that time wise, if so?

Sabrina ~ Did you finish/get rid of all your choc chip cookies? I still have 3 dozen left. I need to get them out of my house. I had way too many over the weekend. That's why I'm adding cardio today! ha ha!

Hi Susan, Diane Sue, Nicole, Terri!

Have a great day everyone!

Dallas

Hey Susan...

Yes, I am doing the Faux CTX rotation. I started last week. It was a little weak to me and I made quite a few modifications especially in the strengh training area. I think that week 2 will kick it up a notch so I'm looking forward to that. You are supposed to only use the hardcore series, but I've switched up where I could. Like today I was supposed to do KickMax but I did KPC instead. Timewise is not too bad...it's supposed to simulate the CTX workouts, but using the hardcore series instead...so generally the workouts should take about an hour if you don't add to them like I've been doing...

Dallas - I would check and see if she has Power 90X or Power Half Hour First. Slim Series is a good set, but I find it sort of boring.

Hi Ladies,

Sabrina-Sounds like you did great with the garage sale! I should ask my brother if I cab have one at his house since I live in a condo.
Lora-The dentist scares me :( Hope it goes well
Dallas-So glad your DS had a nice party and that you survived!
Marietta-That rotation sounds interesting. I will keep i in mind for future rotations.

Well I have to go look what is on the rotation for me today. I will check back later. Hope everyone is having a good day.

By the way I saw the pseesion of Emily Rose last Night. It was Scary but not as Scary as the Exorcist with Linda Blair.

Terri

Terri - I saw that movie yesterday also and my hubby thought it was scary and I thought it was so/so.

I have a question for everyone. I saw this post about overtraining with this comment made in it "Doing too much (like both of the Pyramids in one day) is going to shut your body down and get you even further from your goals of weightloss and toned muscles. Doing too much is also hard on your heart."

It got me thinking......so here are my questions.....(actually this was my response to the poster, but she never answered me and I'm curious).

"Doesn't everyone respond to exercise differently, i.e., overtraining for one person would not necessarily be overtraining for someone else (depending on the shape they are in - I'm not talking about lifting weights for the same body part 2 days in a row - I'm talking about the intensity of your workouts mainly). This is the impression I was under anyway. I know there are a lot of people on this Forum that exercise twice a day and some people exercise up to 3 hours per day. I would think that this would be considered overtraining, but from what I read on this Forum, I am confused. Right now I only workout 1 to 1.5 hours per day and reading all of the checkins and seeing how much others do, always makes me feel like I should be pushing harder.

Also, is it true that the higher intensity sessions you do, the more your body can handle and the more your body thinks it needs to respond? What I'm wondering (for example) is that if you did the August rotation (which was very difficult)would your body think it needs this type of intensity all of the time with the longer sessions, or does your body adapt when you go back to the less intense routine and still responds?"

Missy-I read that thread too. I do workout a lot. I do a cardio everyday and a weight workout eveyday. My workouts are pretty intense so I saw that and have the same questions as you. Wait for marrieta I bet she can answer these questions. I rarely take a rest day also so I want more info on this before I change anything.

Terri

Lora ~ It's funny that you wrote that because I've been doing little add ons for cardio since completing the August rotation. When I finish my "regular" cardio now it doesn't seem like enough. You have good questions. Let's see what Marietta says. You might want to post it into a new thread and see what kind of answers you'll get. I know that I would be interested.

I remember Susan saying one time that if she plans it right she can go a long time with out a rest day. I think I'm starting to like then idea of "active rest days". I just feel like I have to do something. Now my DH takes the weekend off completely. He looks awesome, if I may say!:7 He does work out hard M-F (2 hour work outs). He does cardio (1/2 hour), weights, and abs everyday. I'm pretty sure he doesn't work the same body part 2 days in a row.

Terri ~ You're like a machine! LOL! ;-)

OK, got to go a straighten up my house and do MORE laundry!

Dallas

ETA: Lora ~ Thanks for the tip on P9OX. Now I see that there is P90 and there's a new series coming out - Something Masters, right? What's the difference, if you know? I know I can do a search on this forum and get lots of info. I remember Nicole saying that the SS is kind of boring.

OOOPS I said Missy when I meant Lora! Excuse me as I am having a bad mental day :)

Dallas-That is what my friend say about me oo :)

I too am interested in the p90x but hate to spend the money until I know more about how others like it and results etc.

Terri

Hiya!

Today I did my second favorite workout, Supersets! I did the two sets with no core Premix (78 minutes).

Sabrina, $140 at your mil's yard sale is great!

Dallas, did you say you wanted P90X? I have it. I got it when it was all the hype. I don't care for it. I haven't even used all the w/o's yet. I like Cathe's style so much more.

Lora, Boy have I got a lot to say about your questions. It's a rare day I ever put training input on this forum. I do not have any certifications, but I did have a lot of experience training with bodybuilders. During that time I learned so much. Yes, people do respond to workout routines differently, but, there really is a good set way to get awesome results in a much shorter amount of time.

I also learn soooo much about food. Years ago I would eat a plate of sprouts with a teaspoon of Italian dressing, for lunch. I learned how I was making myself FATTER than if I ate some steak and rice!

This morning was my sons first day of school. He acted like it was no big deal. I did feel sad as I walked back to my car.

I have a meeting to attend now, but I'll check back later.

Susan

Hi
Today I did HSTA W/U & cardio, then the step portions of MIS, then Interval Max intwervals 1-5. I followed this with GS legs.
I would still like to do some ab work but may save it for tomorrow. I am trying to fight off a cold.

Lora, I need to call and get a dentist appointment. I also have to change my eye appointment. I hate going to all those appointments.

Have a great day everyone,
Diane Sue

Susan - For some reason - I thought you were pregnant with your first child. I don't know why I thought this. I feel a little better knowing you've been thru the experience before. I always feel bad for first time mothers. I don't know why, as I only have feline kids. I guess cuz it's a learning experience the first time.

Also, why don't you give "training advice" on this forum?

I just have to put in my two cents on the post that Lora is referring to regarding overtraining...

First, that particular person seems to me like they are trying to do too much too soon. I don't necessarily think she is "over-trained" at this point. I think she is trying to lose some weight and just decided to jump in feet first....not a good thing.

Since the term "over-training" has come to be a common term these days, it's one that I try to stay away from. I mean really...what is "over-training"? And like Lora said, what is cnosidered over-training for one person may not be for someone else.

With that being said...if you are seeing more losses than gains (performance wise), if you consistently are under the weather, if your resting heart rate is considerably higher than normal, if you have nagging injuries...then your are most likely over trained and you need to back off.

Many of us...myself included have gradually built up to a point where we like to workout more aggressively. There is nothing wrong with that as long as you are not to the point where you are having the symptoms above.

The August rotation was intense...after something like that it would be good to take it down a notch so that you body can have that element of surprise and so that you do not risk injuring yourself. If you hit it hard each and everyday you go at it, then your body will adapt to that and will require more.

Mix it up...if you did pyramid UB and LB on the same day, then don't do any weight work the next day...we know that but don't always do that and that's what leads to overtraining...

Does that make sense??

Marietta - Yes ....that is exactly what I wanted to know. I'm afraid that if I keep working out harder and harder, my body will expect that to get results and you answered my question. I also don't like to take my rest day, as I prefer to take what I call an "active rest" day most of the time and do a workout that is a bit easier than normal or much shorter.

Diana Sue - Tell me about doctor appointments!! I have one next week, then I have to go back to the dentist the following week and my appt. to get my foot x-rayed the following week. My manager has a fit!!

Also, I need to vent about my dental appointment. I am so mad. I had to pay $2,500 for a 4-tooth bridge recently and after I had it placed, I was told I could no longer wear my TMJ splint. I have been suffering with TMJ spasms for over 2 months waiting for my splint to get made and waiting to get in with the dentist. I finally go today and the splint is just as I expected! It's not theh same as my old one and I voiced my concern over not being able to wear it (for various reasons) and asked for the same kind I had, but he insisted I try this one. I've only had it in my mouth for 30 seconds and I CANNOT wear it. It squeezes my teeth so hard that it immediately gives me a pressure headache and then my teeth hurt badly. I explained this to him in the office and he said I need to try it for a while. I asked him how long I have to suffer (since I KNOW I won't get used to it - as I know my body) and he said a month. So now I have to wait another month and it may as well be as if I burned the $200 that it cost!! Now I have to wait a month (in pain) and then go for more appointments to get fitted for another one and pay for it all over. This is pure BS!!!!!!!

thanks for listening.
