Hardcore Rotation Checkin for Friday October 7

Morning Everyone -

This morning I did Jillian Michaels Shape Up Back Side (modifying the impact on the rebounder) along with 30 minutes of Turbo Jam and Cathe's 10 minute Stretch on the Ball.

The Jillian workout kept my heartrate elevated and was a somewhat tough (I'd say intermediate/advanced) workout. I think it would be much better if it was at least 45-60 minutes long. I think it will also be a good workout to do 2 of them back to back and if you added additional cardio to that, it would be an excellent workout. All in all, I had fun and liked it and it was something different which is the key thing!

Have great workouts everyone.

I have a busy weekend planned. I can't wait to get out of work today and start my weekend. We're putting the house we bought on the market tomorrow. We're meeting the Realtor in the morning do discuss price listing. Wish us luck.

I'll probably be guilty later, as I know I'll end up eating a piece of cake at work or at my Mom's at dinner (darned PMS)! I guess I can't take that rest day I was planning tomorrow if I eat cake today.

Susan - I found another article on that link from yesterday called "The No Frills Cardio Challenge" that is excellent.

Do you know of anymore interesting sites or articles? If so, I'd love them.

My question is this - The article states that you need to have the element of Progessive Overload included in your aerobic training. The example they give is that with weight workouts, you need to keep increasing weight to keep building muscle and then they state that cardio is no different. What initially got you fit will no longer be good enough the fitter you get. They state "therefore, your training probarm must have a mechanism in place to ensure that your workouts are continously more difficult as your fitness levels increase."

Does this statement mean you have to keep pushing yourself harder and harder with your aerobic capacity ?? and keep taking your heartrate higher? I'm confused.

Hey Guy!

Looks like I found some time to check in today.

This morning I did HC Extreme (segment 2). After that I ate breakfast and did a few things around the house. In a minute I'm going to a treadmill walk for a warmup and do PS Legs. Nicole, I'll let you know what I think of it.

Lora - Glad you are enjoying your new workouts. And good luck on selling your house.

Now...you know you work hard...you deserve some cake. Don't feel guiltly about it...it's all good. My dad's birthday is today and my mom is making my favorite cake. I plan on eating at least 2 BIG pieces and I'm okay with that...as long as you don't eat that way everyday it's all good.

Terri - I hope things become less hectic for you. Remember...you can only do so much.

Hello to all that follow...

Hi Marietta,

Did you see my post to Susan above? I'd like your thoughts on it as well. If you have time, that is.

Hey Everyone,
Today I did max. cardio burn.

Lora I find that interesting what you wrote, but I can't believe it.:D ha ha Hope you have a WONDERFUL Birthday, and ENJOY some cake:7

Marietta I am thinking about you right now, and can't wait to see how those legs are feeling}( I remember the 1st time I did that workout I was sweating bullets:D

Terri I got my boys room cleaned today :7 I feel really good about that!! Only if it would stay that way ha ha. :D I am ready when you are??

Dallas and Sabrina how are you guys doing with the organizing??? I am going to work on my bathroom this weekend.

Hello Diane Sue, and Susan :D

~Nicole

Today I did IMAX2 plus L&G standing only Premix (about 90 minutes).

Lora, I did not read that article, but, yes, you do need to not only vary your workouts, but increase the intcity to make more athletic improvements.

I have family visiting today, and they just pulled in the driveway. I'll check in tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

Susan C.M.

I can't beleive that about the aerobics. I thought that it was wrong to keep pushing harder and harder, as there is certainly a point where you can't get your heartrate up a little higher, right? Last time I pushed as hard as I could, I couldn't breath at one point and it almost brought on an asthma attack....although this is a bad time of year for me with all of the allergies and sinus drainage. I guess I better keep picking it up and pushing it to the Max.

Hi ladies!

I drove the 75 minute power walk that I have been taking so I could see how far I have been walking. 4.6 miles. How is the time? I have not idea if that is good/bad/so-so. Do I need to try and pick up the pace? Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you!! :)

Busy day. I hope it slows down later so I can see what everyone is up to.

Have a great weekend everyone!! I will try to check in later. I hope.

Good afternoon,
Todays workout was HSCh w/u & cardio, HSTA cardio, then I MAX3 intervals 6-10 and I Max1 intervals 1-5, GS Timesavers for Chest, Triceps, Back, Shoulders, & Biceps w/ st. I am off to work so more in the yard. Mainly moving dirt and putting in a border.

Terri, no still no luck. Thanks for thinking of me.

Marietta, I was thinking of you yesterday when I did PSLA. After the SS lower blast Mon. & then this I really feel my glutes and hamnstrings today. Also I forgot about the side lunge thing. I use 15# dumbbells instead of the bar Cathe uses. That is double the weight of the bar she uses.

Lora, I would just ask for a small piece of the cake and enjoy it. Cut back a few calories somewhere else. Once in awhile is not going to make a lot of difference. Another site that has a lot of interesting information on nutrition, cardio and strength training is www.hussman.org/fitness/

Hi to everyone
Have a great day

Hey guys...I made it back...I can't believe it!! I did get in my incline treadmill walk before doing PS Legs.

Lora - Sometimes we can get so darn technical that we lose all concept. We are constantly bombarded with so much information that it becomes useless. I'm not putting you down for wanting to get this information, but you are going to get so caught up that you won't feel good about anything you do.

You have tried a lot of things and you have asked about a lot of concepts lately. You and I both know that everybody is different and you have to find that perfect combination for you. You will need to stick with something for a long enough period of time if you are ever going to find out if it will work for you. Eventually you will be able to use a little of this and a little of that and find the perfect fit. There is no one perfect solution...I wish there were.

My concept is to work up to my ability and push myself harder once something becomes easy and I apply that concept to strength and cardio workouts. And then there are times when it's okay to push back and give your body a rest.

I truly hope that I don't offend you because that is not my intent.

Nicole/Diane Sue - I did PSLA today. I really do like that workout...not sore yet. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I did get my heartrate up and sweat quite a bit. I'm so glad I purchased this workout.

Susan - Have fun with your family!

Sabrina - 4.6 miles in 75 minutes. I think that's pretty good...looks like you are averaging 16.5 minute miles. Is that good? How do you feel? Do you feel like you could push harder or are you feeling beat afterward? Let that be your judge...and then go from there. Whatever you do, just set some goals like reducing the amount of time it takes to walk the same distance or perhaps walking further. Just give yourself something to keep you motivated...You go girl!!

Sorry about asking all of the questions lately. I tend to be a very analytical person. I'm sorry if I'm driving you ladies crazy.

I did so well all day watching my diet and was happy when I got to work and my coworker did not bring a cake and offered to buy me a salad for lunch instead. Then, I go to my Mom's after work and she bought me a pound of chocolate, 2 caramel apples and made me a cake. I ate too much chocolate (PMS) and a piece of cake and I feel so guilty. Good ol' Mom. I know she means well and I guess you can see why I have a sweet tooth.

Diana Sue - Thanks for the link.
