Hardcore Fitness Maniacs - Saturday 6-5

Morning Maniacs - This morning was IWMBB original, workout 1 B. It had some different exercises in it. I was happy about that. Max HR was 158. Workout was 70" with 2 Cathe stretches at the end. I burned 570 calories. I'm gonna take a week and switch it up next week and then I'm gonna continue on with the last 4 weeks of this rotation.

I can't decide if I should do IWMBB or switch to Val's Movie Star workouts and Action Hero Babe. They are both on DVD, but the latter is broken down differently. Rather than each workout having a Sweat, Sculpt & Polish circuit like the IWMBB's, there is one workout for Sweat, one for Sculpt and one for Polish, so I probably won't burn as many calories with the Sculpt or Polish ones.....we shall see. I sort of miss the visual stimulation.

I also need to decide if I should try to increase my ankle weights with the Tracy Anderson workouts. I still can't complete all of the reps without briefly resting here and there...but....

P.S. I posted on yesterdays thread about my job situation. If anyone is interested in the latest drama there.

Hermia - re: the DH - he lost his long time job due to the company filing chapter 7 bankruptcy. They were bought by their competitor in Bankruptcy court and closed. He found a job making considerably less a year than he used to make, but it still pays okay. He is working midnights though and he not only hates the job itself, but the peeps are rude to him and the job is not really in his field. It's just plain sucks. He keeps fighting with me because he thinks I'm "making" him stay there....because I sort of think it would be a mistake to quit and take a min wage job. I think he should try to "ride it out" until he gets a better job....but he doesn't like hearing that.

Today was STS Meso 1, Disc 2, Back and Triceps. Had a really good workout and even though I was trying to talk myself out of doing chinups and pullups, I did them anyways. Pretty pleased with how I did since it's been at least a month if not longer that I've done them.

Warmup:
Lat Pulldowns with Band - 12 reps
Dumbbell Rows - 15's/21 reps
Dips on HS - 16 reps
Straddle Pushups - 10 reps

Workout:
Chinups - 7 reps
***12 was the target but I was excited to pump out 7 unassisted!
One Arm Seated Overhead Extension - 15#/15 reps
One Arm Row - 30#/15 reps
T-Pull with Band - Green band/36 reps
Barbell Tricep Extensions - 40#/14 reps
Barbell Rows - 60#/21 reps
***This was a bit heavy. Did 7 reps, straightened up then bent over and did 7 more and did it all again.
Y's with Band - Green band/36 reps
One Arm Kickbacks - 10#/15 reps
One Arm Horizontal Row - 20#/15 reps
Deadlifts - 25's/8 reps
Close Grip DB Bench Press - 25's/15 reps
One Arm Press Down with Band - Green band/36 reps
Chinups - 4/3 unassisted
***Going down here but was still able to do some unassisted. I did 4, rested for about 10 seconds and did 3 more.
Seated Overhead Extension - 30#/15 reps
Barbell Rows - 50#/21 reps
***This was much better at 50#.
Double Arm Rows w/ Band - Green band/36 reps
Side Leaning Overhead Extension on SB - 10#/15 reps
One Arm Row - 20#/15 reps
Deadlifts - 25's/8 reps
Double Arm Kickbacks - 10's/15 reps
One Arm Kickbacks w/Band - Green band/36 reps
Pullups - 3/1
***Yea, not happening. It's been a really long time since I've done actual pullups. These were hard. I will work on them.
Cross Body Kickbacks - 12#/15 reps
Lat Pulldowns with Band - Green band doubled up/10 reps
Straddle Pushups - 8/8
***These were suppose to be those side tricep pushups but it hurts my right shoulder too much. I was better off doing these.
Supermans - 24 reps

Oh, I got on the scale this morning and it said 133.2#. I'm like, HOLY SHIT! I LOST 5#! And then I thought about it and thought, "Yea right, there is no way I lost 5# in one week." Got on it again and it showed 136.2#. So I did lose a pound, but definitely not 5. Bummer!

Good Morning -

Gym Style Chest and Triceps yesterday. What a great workout :) I also did a shorter (30+ min) Tae Bo workout - adding in kb swings during lulls in the program (that equaled quite a few swings). I finished with about 10 min. of get up practice tagged on the end. Today, I’m doing Cathe’s Maximum Intensity Cardio  - just made that face because I’ve only done this one a couple times. I can’t figure out why, but I’m just not crazy about it. It isn’t because it's tough, I don’t think - Cardio Core Circuit Cardio Drills Only Premix and some other interval workouts I’ve done are at least as hard by my estimation. It’s not really that long … I don’t know. Some of the Hi Lo moves are just … jarring. I feel like my very bones are rattling. Maybe that’s part of it. Too, I’m not a big fan of Hi Lo in general. All compelling reasons to NOT do this workout - but, it's been awhile and I’m just going to give it another chance to see if I can come to like it better. Objectively, it’s a good cardio workout, I think.

Hermia - Thanks for mentioning your late night energy thing. It surprises me how many of you guys struggle with sleep/energy. I've wondered -- when you workout later, have you noticed if that helps or hinders sleeping afterwards? I’ve thought about just overhauling my schedule and doing night workouts - I think I’d enjoy them more, but I don’t want to make my sleep problems any worse than they are. Maybe it’s just how we’re wired. If we lived on the other side of the planet, we’d be morning people ;) The yoga class you went to - that’s the one you liked so much from last week, right? Good on you for tackling it so early - I have a hard time getting my workout clothes on right side out at that time of morning. I can do it if I have to, but I surely don’t prefer it.

Lora - How are you liking your latest rotation? Noticing any changes/results? Also, I wondered if you feel better at all (less pain). If I understand, this rotation has less impact and direct, heavy weight work. I'm looking at adding in weeks more like the type you're doing. For a lot of reasons, I think it's a good idea. A different sort of training that's beneficial, but gives certain systems a break. Btw, I’m not "being kind" just to be kind - I'm saying what I really feel. It’s kind if sad that stands out as noteable -- as opposed to normal, expected human behavior/interaction. Your work environment has gotten you too used to dealing with BONE HEADS (cut throat bone heads, at that), maybe. I LAUGHED at your Westside Story analogy - street fighting. I’m still laughing, actually. An upscale dept. store in a mall with gangs of all the snarky women you work with - I can see it. It isn’t pretty  At least in Westside Story those guys had rhythm and could sing :p I read your post with the latest about work -- unbelievable the run around you’re getting. I think of myself as fairly gentle and even tempered, but reading about what’s going on, it really p----’- me off (excuse my "implied" language - but it does). Shame on them. The whole bunch of ‘em  I realize the economy and other factors (DH's job situation for one) make it tough, but I wish you could just get out of there. Sounds like you both need new job situations -- pronto. Preferably something that doesn't involve working for commision. Evidently, that doesn't bring out the best in co-workers.

Hope you guys are enjoying your Saturday.

Debbie - We must have posted around the same time. WOO HOO girl - you rocked the pull-ups, especially since you hadn't done them for awhile. Congrat's on the scale, too. 1 or 5 lbs. - either way, if I recall, you'd been bummed cuz it had been "stuck" for awhile? Ha. You got it unstuck :D ! Really good workout to kick off a weekend.

This morning's workout was Kelly Coffey's 30 min to Fitness Cardio Blast Athletic Step 35 min, 265 cal, forgot to log the HR but know it was around 155 max, then I did Kelly's Cardio Sculpt Fitness Cardio mix that is all cardio and the abs 39 min, 255 cal, Max HR 155, Brook Benton's Cardio Pump Fusion Kettlebell Crank total body segment 11 min, 92 cal, max hr 158, I followed this with Cardio Pump Fusion yoga warm up and cooldown 20 min 96 calories. Total time spent was 1 hr 45 min and calories burned was 708.

Debbie, I have done that with the scale:confused: I have this new workout log that has a place for weight everyday. I don't do it but once a week. Sometimes like now I put it off because I think I am holding a lot of water from eating out. If I weighed daily I would obsess all day long over it.

Lora, I think you are right in thinking your dh should ride out the job he has till he finds something that is right for him. Sorry things are so rough at work. I know you spent so long looking for a job. I would love to see you get a break.

Lori, MIC always burns a lot of calories for me. I hate the w/up for some reason. I prefer to do something else to warm up. In some ways it seems harder to me because you spend much longer on a particular move than I think I do on some of the other. I guess that is why the Hi/Lo gets old fast. I prefer to do the step portion which is around 35 minutes to something else. It is nice to do as a change. I used to do the whole thing a lot.

Diane Sue - I think you nailed it. Just finished MIC and it is (for me) the length of time spent on each hi lo move before going on. I did enjoy it more this time, though. Don't know why -- had a better sense of what was coming, so maybe familiarity had something to do with it? I need to be sure to drink a lot of water now, though. I actually had to stop and wipe down my puzzle mats before going into the step segment. I was dripping like I'd just taken a shower  I think the humidity played a role in that. It looks like you had a great workout today, with a lot more diversity than I had (got very tired of high kicks) ;) .

As an aside: I also noticed the crew member just to Cathe's right - not sure what her name is, she's not in too many of Cathe's workout's that i'm aware of. But in the beginning, she had a very pretty smile. Toward the middle and end of the workout, she looked like a deer in the headlights. I'm not making fun of her, mind you. I felt for her and have been there. She held on though and made it through. I'd never picked up on that before - something genuine and slightly humorous about it, I thought.

Hope everyone's enjoying their Saturday.

Lori
