Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Monday July 10

Cathlete
Morning Fit Ladies -

This morning I did Core Synergestics. I did most of the pushups and a couple sets of chest flies (in place of push ups). My shoulder's flaring with pain really badly right now. I'm going to have to ease off of the pushups for a while (I think). This is going to make for a long Monday. Monday's are hard enough to deal with...let alone have this severe pain. My boss is also another pain I must deal with today!! Pray for me, as Charles is on vacation again.

Debbie - What equipment did you get for your new weight room?

Diana Sue - Kenpo X is the hour workout, it's Cardio X that is the 40 minute one. I actually think Cardio X gets your HR up more, but I don't like that yoga at the beginning. I usually skip that and repeat segments to make it longer. I think your HR falls too low during some of the moves like the blocking segments in Kenpo X, so I did the blocks ala Cathe and added plyo hops and during the other blocks (where you put them all together), I ran across the room in between blocks. I probably look funny when I do that...but Oh well. Please....don't stick up for Men!!! It must be nice to NOT STORE fat like us!! All I know is it's very hard for me to build muscle in my upper body (total ectomorph on top) and although I wouldn't call myself a classic pear shape (cuz I'm not really that out of proportion), I sure know how to store fat in my butt, hips, thighs and lower abdomen! From the waist up, I'm pretty much fat free. The other thing that's maddening is that when I lose the amount of weight I need to for my lower body, my upper body looks too skinny cuz I'm so small chested! It's like a joke! Frustrating I tell ya! Sorry for the rant.

Have great workouts everyone. I'll try to check in from work, but I doubt I'll be able to.

Good morning maniacs!

Had a good weekend, family reunion on Saturday and then a 58 mile bike ride with a couple friends on Sunday. Got some yardwork in too, which badly needed to be done. Still have the camp trailer to clean. Think that will be today after work.

I haven't picked my next rotation yet, but I got great results with Debbie's Cardio & Muscle Building rotation. I got some new Cathe DVD's so I'm trying them out this week, then will start a new rotation next week.

Today's workout was the step only from SJP/Step Blast, abs & planks from SJP and then GS Shoulders. That band is a killer on shoulders for me.

I have a bike time trial tomorrow night. I'm anxious to see if the aero bars will make a difference in my time. I'll have to compare it to my time 2 months ago as last month's TT was very windy and most times were slower. I took it fairly easy on yesterday's long ride as I didn't want tired legs for Tuesday. Rode with a couple riders that are slower so that helped me to not push too much and save these legs. The road we went on has been under construction (chip sealed, yuk) and they hadn't painted the shoulder stripes yet, so it was not a pleasant ride, lots of traffic too. I just wanted it to be over.

Lora, hope your boss has other things on her mind so she stays off of your back today.

Hi to all,

Jeanette

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

WOO HOO! Doing the happy dance. So my weight is back up again to 116, but when I took my bodyfat (which I don't do often anymore) it is still in the high 12% range...FIRST TIME EVER that I gain weight and not gain body fat!!!!!!! Ummmm, I am fired up now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.k, I did my 500 crunches in the morning yesterday and now have DOMS in my abs cuz I did some Oxygen magazine moves that I haven't done alot of. I also have DOMS in my chest cuz I haven't done chest in awhile and stayed with the same weights for chest/back. Got in my bike ride (14 miles..same route) at 7pm and got back at 8:20. Nascar driving fools on the road wanted to drag race as the one guy was trying to pass and the other would not let him so I literally had to pull off into the grass and wait for the lunatics to drive by. I did see another poisonous snake on my way back home, in the middle of the road so I just stayed as far away as possible. As I was biking back home, I decided in my head that what I want, I will get. If I get in a funk, I will think of the "funk" as a brick and mentally toss it in the ocean! LOL, but not really! I don't want anything getting in my way of happiness and my goals. That is why I like to workout ALOT sometimes (why am I explaining this to you Maniacs LOL), it is not because I am trying to be a Maniac, I am. LOL! I love the way I feel when I accomplish something. I love the natural endorphines that come too.

So today I am going to extend myself to the long version of lowmax and maybe get in some walking lunges later depending on how my legs feel.

Lora,

Love the pictures. The Asian guy is cute. I still want to go so you are making me very jealous, but you know how it would be with my DH so somethings are better left unsaid. :p

Netta,

I am going to check out another route here today and see how it is cuz I am bored with two of my routes that I usually go on. Well 58 miles should be nothing for you...ENJOY!

Charlotte~~

This morning I did Pyramid Upper Body Biceps, Muscle Max Biceps but did the barbell curls on my preacher bench which gave me an add-on burn! This is a great combo of weight traing, PUB & MM. I'm liking it.

Then I did Low Max #1-#3, I was going to do #1-#4 but ran out of time. That warm up is so long, I really don't like it much, I should have just warmed up for a few minutes and then went right to the first step section. I was in my zone for 31 minutes and burned 189 calories.

I took pictures of my bi's, they were really cool looking but when I downloaded them on my PC they were really blurry. I don't get it. They look crystal clear in my camera. Kind of pisses me off. I'll take more tomorrow.

Charlotte - excellent on the body fat! Woo Hoo!

Lora - I got a Power Tower to add to my weight room. I've been talking about it for about a week now.

Hope you all have great workouts!

Morning All!

I thought I'd check before things get nutty around here. I couldn't sleep, so I got up pretty early today to workout. I'm not sure where I left off with checking in, so I'll start yesterday. I saw this speed work article in the June Runner's World. It's a speed work rotation where you do running w/200 repeats one day, ladder the next work out and then a long run for the third. They are not to be done on consecutive days, however. Yesterday, I did 8-200 repeats. Since it was the first time, I did a 200 recovery. Hopefully, I'll shorten that up next Monday. Overall, with w/u, 200's/recovery, c/d I did 4.5 miles. I'm also following the May rotation so, I did the 30 minute leg routine. That was a nice workout! Pure sweatfest!! }(

Today was S&H Chest and Triceps, CM#2, treadmill incline walk (10%) for 4.5 miles, and a stretch.

Lora ~ Prayers sent for you with that boss of yours. :)

Jeanette ~ 58 miles and yardwork?!?! I agree the band work gets me every time. Today, S&H triceps got in there good.

Hi to all who follow! I'll try and check back..

ETA: My dh came home in the middle of my post and we got to talking....anyway, Charlotte, WAY TO GO!!!! Debbie, you have me very interested in that tower. Does it take up a lot of space?

Debbie - yes, I know...but what is a Power Tower?

Charlotte - That's Stevie D.....and he's a hottie. He was Josh's roommate for most of his single life. I wish I'd have lived on that floor!

Hi everyone,

Seems like everyone had a nice weekend. :D

Today I did PUB. After each body part I did 2 minutes or so of cardio on my elliptical, then abs.

Dallas, how was Chicago? What did your family do? I bet the kids were really surprised! In your workout on Sunday, what are "repeats"?

Lora, I’m fat free from my ribs up and knees down.

Jeanette, boy, you go and go and go!! 58 miles THEN yard work. Wow. I’m impressed.

Well LOTS to do today. I’ll be back later.

Susan C.M.

Hi Susan,

How was your visit with Justin? Chicago was so fun! I was so envious of all the runners, bike riders, etc. What beautiful scenery to workout to everyday! We took the kids to Navy Pier and the Children's Museum the first day. We even got the whole family on the gigantic ferris wheel. I used to look out my mom's hospital window and think there's no way anyone would ever get me up there. LOL! The things we do for our kids. The second day we went to Millennium Park. There's more we wanted to do, but we had to get home for our plans on Saturday. Here's the links (in case you're ever in town ;-) ):

Repeats are when you run 200 meters and then do a short recovery and do it again. It can be different lengths. I need something to divert my attention. I tell you, the workout flew by!! :)

Good afternoon,
It has been a busy morning. This morning I did the w/up and first 15 minutes of Straight Up Step. I had so many interuptions I finally decided to hold off on it because I would just start getting the moves down and have to stop. So I did Low Max no w/up or str., Gym Style Chest & Triceps, then Core Max Tough Core, and 3 sets of 25 reps leg raises on the Tower,50 reps Bowflex resisted crunches at 100#, 25 wood chops on a stability ball with a 25# dumbbell.

Lora, yes I would love to be able not to store fat like men. I tend to store fat in my hips and abs too. That is the first place I seem to gain. When I say 1 hour of cardio I generally do not count the w/up or stretch. That is just me. I get kind of obsessive about the 1 hour. If I lack 2 or 3 minutes I will do some more so I can write it down as 1 hour:)

Hi to everyone. I will try and check back later. I have to go get dog food and do some shopping since I will be doing the eye surgury tomorrow afternoon.

Good afternoon!

This morning I rode with a girlfriend - 21 miles, 1 hr. 15 minutes. It wasn't terribly tough (16.7mph avg and HR 157avg). Tomorrow morning's ride will be tough because the friend who pushes me is back in town. Oh oh!

Yesterday was a food fest for me. I don't know what my problem was. It's not PMS, so who knows (I don't really get PMS, but enjoy blaming things on it ocassionally). I was watching that show Half Ton Man for about 5 minutes and they were interviewing that woman who was so big she had to be lifted out of her home (remember her?). Anyway they asked her if she noticed herself getting fatter. She said she would just eat all day long. DH walked through and I informed him that I was probably going to weigh 1200 pounds b/c I couldn't stop eating. His response, "Yeah. Okay." He's not worried. :) I got on the scale this morning and haven't gained, so I'm still happy about the loss. Whew!!!

Gotta run - I'll try to check in with you all later. Great workouts! You all amaze me every day!

Hello everyone!

Suz, I am green with envy with your 21 miles in 1 hr and 15 mins!! I think I do about 4-5 in 30 on the bike right now! Can't wait for this knee to get better!!
I watched part of the 1/2 ton man too and was freaking out over it. Was that crazy or what....

Yes Char- I am here. It's been a really crazy day so far. DD has a lump on the outter corner of her eye (it's been there for a few weeks or longer, we are not sure) so I called the Dr this morning and ended up getting an apt 1 hour from when I called. Dr is about 30 mins away, so we had to go and get back do all the stuff. I have to take her to the baby eye Dr on Wed to have it all checked out. Not sure what it is.

So...that is my story for today. I am crazy busy and have to get out of here in a few hours for a b-day party.

I did 30 mins on the bike and GS bis and tri's again. Still need to get in abs and PT leg work...still behind on that.

Hello to everyone! Hope everyone is having a fantastic day!

Janjan

Suz,

I seen that documentary. I watch them all...the one about the skin falling off a boy, etc. Just fascinates me. I watched Supersize She too. Yeah, but they ate very bad stuff too so I don't think you need to worry.;-) You are really burning the calories from riding too. Gosh, I wish I could ride with ya. There are only two types of riders where I live...the "Lance Armstrongs" that come around from time to time and just little ole' me and small children. I really don't think too much about how fast or slow I am going. I just go according to how I feel so sometimes faster and sometimes slower. I like to feel the burn in my legs as I head up the incline on a particular road I go on. I can go slow and feel it really good. And not surprised you haven't gained either cuz like I said, you are really burning the calories.

O.k., where is Marietta? How many times do I have to keep asking where she is? I see how it is.....hmmm:* ;-)

Well it is about time I heard from you. Yeah, Suz got it going on. I road for 14 miles in the same time frame last night so I know she is moving them legs. I go at a snails pace I suppose. Let me know how things turn out with your dd. Probably nothing though.

Charlotte~~

Char-
It's been a crazy day. DH's company got bought out by another company and today was "black Monday" so he has been filling me in on what is going on. The company employes about 300+ here in H-Town and they cut about 100 jobs with this merger. I have to call every hour to make sure DH was not one of the one's going home. It's weird our neighbor worked there and he lost his job. I feel really bad for him and his family. They are nice people, so hopefully he will find another job quick. Texas is not nice with it's unemployment. The max you get paid is $336 per week for 6 months and then you are cut off and out to dry. Bad part too is you have to pay taxes at a 30% tax bracket at the end of the year for them unemployment. It sucks.

Hmmm...I just lost my post. Weird!

You two are funny. Charlotte - I know that if we rode together you would definitely keep up because that's how you are - you're a CRAZY woman and a tough one!

And Janjan - if it weren't for your injured knee you'd be right there too. I hope all turns out well with you dd. How old is she?
