Cathlete
Morning Maniacs -

Back from vacation. I just got up and I'm going to do something. Not sure yet what it will be.

Vacation was great.....too much food....as usual. Concert was great except the concert venue had a sound system that sucked. We were right up front and couldn't hear any of the the bands vocals. WTH??? Sort of a bummer.

Papa Roach and Buckcherry kicked major butt and rocked out with lots of energy.....and the opening band, The Exies, were pretty good. Hinder stunk live.......believe it or not. I bought the new Papa Roach CD and HIGHLY recommend it for workout music!! It is a really good CD.

Off to find something to sweat and pump to.

This morning was Back, Bi's & Traps. Had an excellent workout and had some personal bests. They are in bold.

Back
Wide Grip Pullups:
6/6/6 (last week was 6/6/5?)
***This was my goal for this 8 week rotation and I made it in 3 weeks!

Barbell Rows:
80# - 3 sets/8 reps (up 5#)
***I never thought I'd be able to get this high in rows with my back. This really makes me happy!

One Arm Rows:
45# - 10/9/9 (up 3#)

Biceps
Barbell Curls:
62# - 3 sets/6 reps (up 2#)
***These were fairly easy up to the 3rd set. Last two reps were a bit on the cheat side)

Zottman Curls:
22's - 3 sets/10 reps
***No matter how often I do these, they just BURN!

Concentration Curls:
22's - 12/10/10 (up 2#)
***Could not squeeze out the last 2 reps for the last two sets. I was wiped out by this time.

Traps
Barbell Shrugs:
110# - 3 sets/15 reps

Football starts soon!!! :)

Lora - Glad to hear you had a great time!!!

Hi all. One of my rare check ins. This am was 30 minutes kickboxing (on my onw, no tape - was upstairs in loft/gym where guest was sleeping so I improvised); then today will have one hour upper body and core workout with trainer. Been hitting weights hard and it is working. Monday I did Boot Camp for first time in ages. Maybe it was serious hilly bike ride we did Sunday, but geez it was hard!

Debbie a question: what is your warm up before a weight training session? Trainer has me do 10 minutes on treadmill (boooorrrinnng!!!). You?

Lora, how's the foot? Did you love Vegas? I went once, thought I would hate and just loved it! Prince does a show there now. I'm going back. Who remembers where they were when Purple Rain came out?

Char, keeping you and family in my thoughts. Hoep you are hanging in there.

I'm back..........on the late schedule today.

I ended up doing The Firm Total Body Time Crunch with Rebecca (50"). This was weights and cardio and I used 10-20 lb DB's and used the Rebounder for plyo moves and various other aerobics....but I wore my boot. I then went downstairs and did 20 minutes of Spinervals Sprinting Machine HIIT workout. Workout was 1 hour 22 minutes and I burned 536 calories (which I needed to burn MAJORLY). I finished off with 20 minutes of Perfect in 10 Yoga.

It's unbelievable that my legs never fuller recover when I take 5 days off and walk around Vegas. My hamstrings/glutes and thighs were sore from walking all over. We didn't do walking drills like last time (per se) but I did walk a lot at a decent pace and just rested my foot while playing BlackJack when it started throbbing. My husband has created a Monster! He taught me how to play BlackJack this trip and I finally got comfortable enough to start playing at the tables versus a machine. I walked away $100 or so up each time I played and now I'm a Black Jack Playing fool!!!

Julie - my foot made the trip. My sciatica is flaring pretty badly from walking unevenly (the boot throws my back out of wack). I walk like Frankenstein....one foot up and one down! When my foot throbbed, I rested it. It doesn't feel too bad today after doing aerobics in my boot.

I seriously want to go to the Bad Boys of Rock in Cleveland now...but all that's left ticket wise are lawn seats! Ugh! I'd love to see Papa Roach and Buckcherry with vocals!! I can't believe how bad the sound was at that venue.

Deb and Toasty - Seriously.......you need to consider getting Papa Roach's Paramount Sessions CD.............I think you two would love it. It really is excellent workout music. I've been listening to it nonstop.

Oh.....my DH caught a guitar pick from the lead singer of the band The Exies......................too bad it wasn't from Buckcherry! Buckcherry's set was too short....only about 8 songs. Lead Singer from Papa Roach was SUPER SUPER Intense! I liked him. We were front row and center. We went and stood in line 2 hours prior to the doors opening ........so I was on my feet about 8 hours straight that night!!! Good thing for adrenaline.

I'll have to go back and read up on what's been going on.....but right now, I've got lots to do around here and then I have to try to get some perfume samples up for sale..........need to make some moola.

Have great workouts everyone. Good to be back in to my workouts.....although my bike started making a clicking sound today and I think it's ready to break!!

Good morning. I should do my WO real soon. Have alot to do today. I think today is a circiut day. If I am wrong about that, then it will be weights.
I did good with my eating at the restaurant. Was too busy to have a chance to eat ice cream! LOL.

Lora- sounds like a good time. That sucks about the sound though.

DS- good luck with that car!

Deb- that is fantastic! You really are doing amazing with the weights.

Julie- so how do you like working out with a trainer? I think I might feel uncomfortable, but then again, maybe they can push you to do better. Don't know.

I have some housework, then I have to drop my niece off at her dad's work, pick up the babysitter, then go to work. Busy busy!

Morning Maniacs! Went grocery shopping early this morning. I was not going to be stuck without any healthy food today.:) It's like heaven going shopping when hardly anyone else is in the store. I have BM2 double upperbody on tap for today.

Lora- Sounds like you had a great time in Vegas!

Debbie- You are really doing great with the weights. Always improving.}(

Diane Sue- Hope you get your car back today.

Meg- Great job on staying away from the ice cream!

Julie- Nice to see you here again!:)

Julie - I do a Cathe warmup usually from the GS series. Like if I'm working Back and Bi's, I use the GS Back & Bi's warmup. For chest work, I always do warmup sets and also for shoulder and leg work.

Lora - Papa Roach, really? Is that rap? I may look into it, what CD do you have?

Thanks all, about my weights. I'm actually surprising myself with the weight increases lately. :)

I just had an AWESOME WO! I did the Viper from the Terminator DVD. I loved every minute of it, well, except the lunges cuz my calves kept cramping.
I really think I should stretch before I go to bed since I am on my feet all night at work, and my shoes aren't the greatest right now.
Anyway, I am drenched, so I need to shower and EAT!!!

Hey Maniacs! Taking a short break to get in a meal. Sweet potato and cottage cheese. That's the end of my pre-cooked sweet potatoes for the week. I pre-cooked and pre-chopped tons of food last weekend and it's really helping in the eating healthy department. It's so easy to grab junk if you aren't prepared.

Meg- Great job on the workout! I don't know if I've ever done the Viper. Maybe once a long long time ago.

Diane Sue-I've been meaning to ask you this for weeks. When you order that Fiesta salad at Micky Dee's, do you get it with the cilantro glaze? I ordered one while I was on vacation a few weeks back and didn't get the glaze (wasn't sure if it was all oily) and I was pleasantly surprised at getting that big chicken breast. I was expecting bits and pieces of chicken.j I wonder if I missed out by not getting the glaze. It was still good without it. I loved the dressing.

Hello Ladies!

This morning it was WINDY WINDY WINDY, but I decided to go for a ride outside anyway b/c I don't want to lose my edge. :p I rode into the wind on the way out. I was riding along and here comes this guy and I thought, "Great! Here I go getting passed." And it was DH! He rode all the way from the police station and caught up with me!!! He was all sweaty and I wasn't so then I realized I wasn't working hard enough. :) He had to turn around and get back, but wanted to say hi. How sweet. I did 20 miles, rode for an hour and 18 minutes. My average on the way out was 11.4. My average on the way home was 30!

Lora - Welcome back! Thanks for my package. You little stinker! I'm glad you had a great time. I hope you will let that foot heal now that you're back.

Dallys - So how do you pre-cook your sweet potatoes? First the bold and italics (which sounds like way too much work for me) and now this!

Okay, better get back to work. My darn cell phone/pda went black screen on me again. I'll have to call Verizon. Last time (2 weeks ago) it took over an hour. I think this one is a lemon. I just want to go back to a plain old phone and a calendar on paper. This is the 2nd one I've had trouble with. The first PDA I had for 4 years and not a problem. Once I decided to get fancy about 4 years ago, nothing but trouble.

Suz- Come on! Let's see some italics and bolds.:p
I pick the real small sweet potatoes, and then I cut them in half and steam them with the skins on (keeps them from going brown). I then just heat half of one in the microwave for about a 1 1/2 min. Remove skin, add about 1/3 cup cottage cheese and Presto, quicky meal.
Sounds like you had a nice windy[size] ride. I bet the ride home [u}was{/u] way fun!:p Your DH just loves you, duddn't he!

I finished my workout and started some housework between phone calls and dd stopping by. They called awhile ago and my car is ready. Hopefully dh gets home early enough so we can go pick it up. Otherwise we may have to wait till in the morning. I need to go to the store. I started with Bosu Blast stopping at the abs, then did 20 minutes of Kelly Coffey's Ready Step Go cardio and then did the ab segment, I then did Bosu blast abs, and finished with Ab Ripper X wearing my shoe weights and holding a 15# med ball for the leg climbs and other crunch type moves, I finished with Yoga Shatki warrior 3and 4 and lunge.

Meaghan, I need to remember I have the Terminator in here. I haven't used it in awhile and it has great workouts.

Dallys, I eat the dressing that comes with the SW chicken salad. It is 100 Calories in a whole packet, 6 grams fat and 340 mg sodium. I don't always use the whole dressing packet. I know what you mean about the chicken. Sometimes though I get one and it looks like someone took part of the chicken breast off of the end. Makes me mad. I want the whole thing;)Have you heard of using a dremel tool on dogs claws? I am not sure mine would hang around for that. Our Dane has some massive thick claws. They are hard to cut and she hates it. I take her to the vet to cut them.

Lora, I am glad to hear you didn't have to much problem getting around with your foot. I wondered how you would feel when you got back.

Suz - I might have another extra DVD soon.....Enter the Red Zone. It arrived loose and I've contacted them. I'll keep you posted. I'm enjoying the Spinervals....but my bike is ready to break. I have a call into the Barbell store where we bought it. They take forever to fix things though.

Deb - It's sort of hard rock with maybe a touch of rappish edge. I love that song Forever that they have been playing on the radio. Previously, hits on the radio from this CD (The Paramour Sessions -2006) were What Do You Do and To Be Loved. You'd know them if you heard them. There are only 2 songs on the entire CD that I don't love. It's really good. I think you'd like it. You can sample the tracks at www.Amazon.com. I actually came home and ordered a couple of other CDs by them. I was surprised that I liked them so much and they put on such a good show. Too bad all they have left at Cleveland Tower Amphitheater are Lawn Seats.......cuz I was trying to get good seats and I was going to ask you if you wanted to go with me on 8-24. It's a Saturday. I don't really want to sit on the Lawn though.

Diane Sue - It's good to be back......but it's close to 100 here and humid as heck. I much prefer the dry heat! Do you have humidity where you live or is it dry?

Diane Sue- When I got the salad, they asked if I wanted the Cilantro glaze plus the dressing. Just wondering what the glaze was. Maybe all McDonalds don't put that on? I use a dremel on my dogs nails. Your dogs are young enough that they should get used to it pretty easy. It really works great for those big toenails. Maybe ask the vet if they have one next time you go in and see how they react to it. Some dogs don't mind it and others freak out the first time. I love how it makes the nails smooth instead of sharp.

Lora, it has been over a hundred and very humid here. I know the dry desert heat is so much easier to tolerate. I spent a lot of time outside yesterday filling up my hot tub after they fixed it and cleaning up outside. I was so fatigued by the time evening got here and I am sure it was from the heat.

Diane Sue- I use medium grit sand paper with mine. Mine is actually not a real Dremel. It's a smaller cheaper version and not as powerful. Your Oster set might work and be easier to handle, not to mention, quieter. That might be a good way to start them if they are nervous. Then you could eventually get them used to the bigger, louder Dremel. It might be a two man job in the beginning.:) Good luck with it.

Dallys - Diane Sue got me hooked on those Southwest Salads, but I get them without the chicken. I love the dressing. It's spicy!

Deb- the more I think of categorizing Papa Roach, I'd say they are more Punkish Rock....but not so much Punk like Blink 182, etc....more rock.

Diane Sue - I hate the humidity. My favorite part of being in Vegas is going out at 2:00 am and feeling the warm dessert breeze blow. I just love the weather out there. It's perfect at 90 or 100 out there.

I don't know what rotation I want to get back into these days. I might play around with some of my newer vids before I settle into another rotation. I hope my bike works tomorrow for spinning.
