Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Tues Feb 20

Cathlete
Morning Maniacs -

This morning I did Cardio Coach #1 on the Treadmill followed by TurboJam Fat Blaster and a small portion of Ultimate Tae Bo aerobics (to try it out). Session was 75" and I burned 540 calories. I also did Yoga for Surfers III - Unleashed 70".

Suz - Off work, huh? That's great. I bet you've been enjoying your time off. That's terrible about the shelter. I know when we first got our baby from the shelter, he had a bad cough and kept passing it to all our kitties. They never suffered from this before, but now it seems they always pass it around a few times a year. They are just going thru a bout.....keep passing it to each other and it takes forever to get rid of it. I think my oldest cat has some pulmonary problems, as his cough is chronic.......he's getting up there in age....13, 14 or so.

Jen - Great job on the workout..........you're a maniac NOW!!! I'm very proud of you staying so motivated and even motivating your DH....what a woman!!

Toasty - did you see on BPAL's Forum - The Trading Post is now carrying some soaps!! Dorian is one of them. They are $7.50....not sure how large they are. Do we actually need more soap? I didn't even order from Brooke's last mini update, as I have soap coming out of my ears over here! Have you ever checked out the Bath/Beauty segment under Retail Therapy? Those ladies have some really good websites posted for lotions/soaps, etc. I was checking out the Wicked Cosmetics site's body butters and shower sorbets yesterday. Intersting.

Have great workouts everyone. I'll be around off and on today. I've got some running around to do.

Hi to everyone that follows !

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Today I will do Kenpo and cleanmax! Temperatures will start warming up around here!!! I will be able to get on my bike again!!!!

Lora,

I got your pm, but I cannot get the link to work. Never could with those. I have tried to sign on again and get another name/password..nothing works. I don't understand the org site except for reading reviews..that is all I can do. So they got soaps on Trading Post..sounds alittle expensive for a bar of soap..will check out though. I still need to order from Brooke soon. I want passion and treat 2, if you can part with those as samples. Let me know. I will give you $10 for each, but I would like them to be full.

Charlotte~~

Good Morning,
Today will be some cardio, abs/core, and some yoga/stretching if there is time. We still have roofers and it looks like they may be here a couple of more days. Taking the dogs out front on a leash has not been fun. It's a whole new world out there to check out, so it takes a loooong time. The back is full of workers stuff. I have errands to run as well.

Debbie, I have the rotation typed up and printed off for myself. I need to save the one posted though as I added a few points that I missed the first time I typed it out.

Jen, it looks like you got in some good weights last night. I know those concentration curls really tests the endurance.

Suz, that is to bad about the shelter. Now all of those puppies are exposed. They should have told someone not just posted a note.

Janie, good to have you back:) Did you enjoy yourself?

Maeghan, I like Yoga Shatki a lot. I like that I can use the matrix(workout blender) and pick what I want to do for the time I have to spend.

Hello to everyone.

Diane Sue & Deb (and anyone who runs) - do you wear running or crosstraining shoes to run? Do you find they work well? Diane Sue - if you wear cross trainers? is that good enough for your PF??

Toasty -I'll have to copy and paste that link. Nothing on the list though. I'll see how much Treat 2 I have and lets hope I get Passion, although I wouldn't charge $10!! Those soaps must be huge. Do you think Brooke's Orange Vanilla soap sounds good? can't remember the name of it.

This morning I worked my legs. I'm starting to think I should stick with Cathe's workouts for legs. I just don't feel like I get a great workout when I do my own thing with legs. Not sure why? I did add some Cathe onto this workout. It was 3 sets/8-10 reps, 2 minutes rest.

Sissy Squats: 1 set/15 reps 10# - warmup (First time ever doing these, felt them big time in my quads)
Sissy Squats: 3 sets/10 reps - 25#
***How would you go heavy with this exercise? Anyone know? This one could be tricky for the low back as well.

Leg Extensions: 70# 1 set/10 reps; 75# 2 sets/10 reps

Plie Squats: 45# 1 set/10 reps; 2 sets/12 reps

Hamstring Curls: 50# 3 sets/10 reps

Then I did the floor work from Butts & Gutts. Still not sure if I like this workout or not, but my legs were shaking by the end.

Charlotte - I got through the entire floor work so I think its doable if you don't do the standing part first. LOL! I was still dying by the end, though.

Lora - I wear cross trainers.

Hope you all have great workouts!

Lora,

I will have to get Dorian and Mistkatonic Univ soaps. You know I do not like Snake Oil. lol. I didn't know Brooke had out more new soaps. Will have to check. Just thought it was Shangai-ed and Krato..something other.

Debbie,

Wow, nice workout and I like how you added different things in. I stick with 70-80 for squats when Cathe does them cuz I know she keeps going like the ever-ready bunny so I would not go too high in weights. Cathe does put a hurting on you when you are done. I agree..my legs were shaking too when done with Butts and Guts.

Diane Sue,

I hope those roofers don't flirt too much with you. Your hubby would not like that. ;-)

Charlotte~~

Lora, I bought running shoes just for the treadmill. I only wear them for running days. I wear the Saucony Stabil MC 5. They seem to have a little more cushioning in the forefoot as well as the heel. I still have heel cups in them as well. When I wear my cross trainers (Saucony) I can tell the difference.

Debbie, maybe if your legs were shaking by the end that is the reason you are not sure if you like that workout LOL. Really I think a lot of Cathe's workouts hit a lot of muscle endurance which for me I feel a lot more. When I do something like S&H or my own I don't feel like I am really feeling it even with Maximum effort. But when I see results I know it is working. I just think the difference is how I am hitting it.

Charlotte, I try to ignore the workers but it is hard when the dogs want to bark at them:)

Another Question: For those of you who do "recovery like" weeks.....are they necessary if your'e not doing particularly heavy lifting and doing more high rep workouts?

Deb - so not problems with running in crosstrainers? Do you ever have foot problems though?

Diane Sue - I know, I like the extra cushioning in my Running Shoes, but it seems they lack side support. I can't decide which to get....as I need new shoes. I can't get both...........at least not right now. I know I'm going to get Saucony's. I'm wondering if the ones that say they are for "over pronators" would have better side support?

Toasty - Yes, Brooke put out 2 new soaps. Don't you get her newsletter?

Morning Maniacs. Guess what, I finally figured out how to do dead lifts the RIGHT way! My hamstrings are actually sore today. I was never sticking my butt out enough. Halleluja!

I really hope to do my Amy Bento today and some Yoga Shakti.

Deb- I love Cathe's leg work, and I love the way my legs feel now. No jigglies.

DS- hopefully the workers will vacate soon so it will be back to normal for your doggies. I can't wait to try out this Shiva.

Lora- you are so funny with these soaps and oils! I have to know where Fire Eater is from (couldn't find it) I am going to be needing more of it!

Janie and AMber- welcome back!

Jen- stick around for sure! It is great here.

CHar- I think I am going to start to like deadlifts now. I can't believe it took me this long to ACTUALLY get it right. What a bonehead!

Suz- sorry about the puppies being at risk! That is horrible!

I will bbl.

Charlotte - I know, I can never go real heavy with Cathe's workouts but I feel them more.

Diane Sue - I have a pair of Saucony shoes too, I love them. It feels like I'm running on air with those shoes. I guess I do like B&G, but something about this new series just rubs me wrong way. Can't put my finger on it.

Lora - I have no problems with my crosstrainers (Saucony shoes), I have MANY problem with my feet and always have. The only kind of shoes I can wear are the mesh kind.

Meaghan - Thats why I think I should go back to Cathe for legs. She has a way of getting those jiggles to go away. I need that right now.

Morning Maniacs! Not sure what workout to do today. I'm trying to decide what type of rotation to do. I still have a bad elbow(or forearm really). The weather here is back to being to cold, so my bike riding will have to wait for alittle while longer.

Debbie- I really like Cathe's leg work too. She hits from all angles. I like LB Pyramid and leaner legs and GS legs the best, I think.

Char- Looks like we are switching weather again. LOL! Have fun with Kenpo!

Diane Sue- I hope they get the roof done quick! I bet the dogs love seeing the new stuff out front. LOL!

Meg! That is so cool you figured out your deadlifts! They can be tricky. Don't you love the sore feeling in the hamstrings? That's my favorite kinds sore.:)

Hi to everyone else!

Gotta go eat my oatmeal.

Debbie,

ME is the most "feelingist" Cathe workout I know! At least with bicep curls. OMG!

Meg,

Your a nut! I was doing one legged squats wrong for the longest time myself. One day, it just clicked and was not as hard. I was actually making it harder on myself before. I had to hold onto the entertainment center lest I would fall down. Don't ask. lol

Lora,

You know I don't really care for recovery weeks. Screws me up and I feel weaker, but this is just my own experience with it.

Yeah, I did get a newsletter..maybe I should read it again. Must be the ADD since I missed it.

Deb - I don't really click with Cathe's new series either. The only one I really like is Butts & Gutts......I can't figure it out either.....but I loved Hardcore...so maybe those just spoiled me. RE: GH - WELL, can you believe Lizzy told Jason........great!!! (sarcastically spoken). He better not "be" with her. Poor Sam! Thanks for the shoe info. I still dont' know what to do.

Toasty - Fireater is from the Carnivale Noir collection last year's Carnivale. You can look on Ebay.........I just offed the little last bit I had......wasn't a fave of mine.

Hi ladies! Just peeking in from work to see what ya'll (there I go again) are up to. I actually don't have a Southern accent to go along with my ya'lls...I was born in Miami. All confused! ;) I'll BBL after my WO tonight. My dad got a job around the corner from where I work, so we try to meet once a month for lunch and today's the day! Yum! :) ;)

Have a great day and great WOs!

Jen

Mornin Maniacs,

Lora, Great workout. I'm always impressed.

Char, Glad to hear you'll be able to use your bike soon.

Diane Sue, sounds like you'll be having yourself a workout as well. I enjoyed my family to the fullest. But you know, there is nothing like your sisters, they are very special to me.

Debbie, fantastic workout! Your the woman.

Maeghan, Yeah! Dead lifts are hard to figure out and they are so worth it.

Dallys, stay warm, and let us know your rotation that you decided on.
The idea is to die young as late as possible.

Jen, so glad to see you on this forum. Have a great lunch with your Daddy.

Suz, I'm so sorry to hear about the shelter again. Will your doggies be at risk? Someone should be fired if you ask me. That is unacceptable!

I'll be doing GS Chest and Triceps. Also using the Marcy for pectoral fly's. Then an ab work. Will post this later today.

It's rainy and dreary here in the Pacific Northwest. So staying in and planning my vegie garden.

Janie

Suz- I can't believe that happened! So, are all the people that were there with their dogs mad? Especially the ones with puppies as they are so vulnerable? Geez, what a mess for you. Hope it all works out. I went to our new dog shelter thinking of maybe getting a part time job there but, it smelled so bad, I don't know if I could do it. They also wanted you to learn how to administor (I know I gonna spell this wrong) Euthenasia (told ya). I really don't think I could do that!

Janie- I want a vegie garden! My Dh put gravel all over my yard and I have no where for a garden, besides my whiskey barrels.:(

Dallys,

Whiskey barrels are great for zucchini or any vegie to grow in.(Perhaps not corn) Also raised beds, just add soil and you'll have a garden. The gravel can be left in-between the beds. Think about it. It's the only way to get organic fresh vegies. If there is a will there's a way.

Meg - I guess I typed that note to the wrong person......FireEater is from last year's Carnivale series which was Carnivale Noir......I just got rid of the last little bit I had..........but there's always Ebay.

Diane & Deb - I ended up getting Stability Running shoes for "over pronators", as they said they'd have more lateral support. The girl I spoke to actually had the shoes and runs marathons.......she said they're good!
