Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Monday Feb 19

Done with Butts and Guts. Wonder if Cathe should have called this Butts and Nuts cuz you gotta have some to finish it out. The floor work for the legs is just beyond me. I cannot keep kicking my legs in every direction without feeling the lactic acid build up so bad...I have to take a break..a wee one just so I can continue. Anyone else find this one difficult? The deadlifts and the squats are nothing to me though. I pause the dvd and go into my sunroom and do it off the smith machine instead. I went with 70's cuz of all the reps and low ends for squats, but I probably could have done so with 80 as well. Deadlifts I went with 120#. I used 12# db's thru most of workout when it called for db's. Eight pounders for ab work. I smell and my dog is licking me right now. I need to shower.bye

Lora, we all have the internet::::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this Forum. I can always visit here and get positive, honest and motivating information. The people I have met on this Forum have been good people with their heart's in the "right" place. It really means a lot to me to be able to communicate with so many others with the same passion! I frequent another Forum (whose name I won't divulge) and catty arguments and vindictive posts are a frequent occurrence over there and it turns my stomach.

I'm a kind, caring, compassionate person and I respect others & appreciate talking to other's with the same common goals as mine!

I hope this doesn't sound sappy........but I love this place and I'm so glad it's here!

Can I also just say that this is the place that got me interested in practicing yoga again and I can't believe how many great video rec's I received in just a couple days of posting!

Thanks for being the special bunch of ladies (and gents) that you are! It's good to see that we can all get along and inspire each other!

Keep up the good work!! It's been a pleasure!

P.S. You are also an ENABLING bunch of Vidiots!! my wallet thanks you!

If you have something to say, say it.

I also get on video fitness. I just don't post much...
Whose forum would you be talking about....
You started the catty arguement if i recall.

Toasty - I don't think we all do 120 pound deadlifts during Butts & Gutts ....you're a true maniac girl!!

Deb - I didn't know you even had kids...at one time.

Diane Sue- Does P90 X stretch do plough and shoulderstand? If so, I'm going to need to break this out!

Meg - no mail today......hopefully you'll get a lot of workouts tomorrow!!

Debbie, this is how the rotation is. They say you are using multi joint exercises. Focus is on heavy compound moves.
Jan/Feb issue. It is done in 3 2 week phases Phase 1 build, Phase 2 Sculpt, Phase 3 define. You do this 3 days a week and do abs and hi intensity cardio the other two.

Phase 3:Define weeks 5-6 all exercises except where noted are 15-20 reps
legs barbell squats 3 sets
back pull up do as many reps as you can then finish off at lat pulldown machine
legs squat jump
shoulders overhead dumbbell press
legs romanian deadlift
chest decline push ups
shoulders upright row
triceps parallel bar dip
calves weighted jump rop 3 sets 100 skips
legs walking lunge 3 sets 40 steps
perform these exercises in succession, circuit style. Rest no longer than two minutes between circuits.

I have been adding some bicep curls to the mix and some calf work. Also on the super sets some of them I use dumbbells in place of the barbell to save time switching weights for upper body from lower.

Lora - I have two step-kids. They are 20 & 21 years old. Can't deduct them anymore.

Diane Sue - thanks for much for typing all that out! I really appreciate it! I didn't mean for you to do that, but thanks a bunch!

Deb - Diane Sue is such a sweetie.......she typed that out for me once already also!! But since I'm ADD girl....can't follow a paper!

Diane Sue -I got a copy of Cory's Get Hard Arms & Shoulders off of Ebay over the weekend! It's a superset workout....so I can use it for that generalized rotation you posted the other day.

Off to watch GH........I bet it's a good one.

Good evening, all! Tonight's WO was Turbo Jam Cardio Party # 1 (45 min) followed by the shortest UB WO from Supersets plus stretch (30 min). I used 1/4 lb weights during the TJ WO, which doesn't sound like much, but if you think of it as a 45 minute pre-fatigue before the weight work....not so wimpy! :) Here's my weights for SS:

(prep WO area for 1/2 of warm-up since already warm from TJ and did other 1/2 of warm-up)

BB Deadlifts-40#
BB Bench Press-40#
DB Shoulders on Ball-5#
DB Pullovers on Ball 20#
DB Incline Chest Flys on Ball-15#
DB Shoulder Rotator Cuff on Ball-5#
DB Seated Overhead Press-12#
BB Preacher Curls-25# (Barely made it, just increased this WO from 20)
DB Triceps Extensions-15#
DB Rear Delt Flys-3# (hey, it's a tough one!)
Seesaw Triceps-bodyweight-good god I have got to lose some weight

Char-Butts & Nuts-ROFLMAO!!!!! :+

Dallys-I'll stay awhile but won't take my coat off-unless my arms magically turn into yours-best for everyone involved that mine stay covered!

Randi-Oh no! Music & Lyrics was not good? What didn't work about it? I have IMAX 3 but have not even attempted it-unless you count taking the plastic off the package!

Amber-I usually vacation at home because I have 3 very high anxiety dogs that wouldn't do well being boarded or with a petsitter. I always wonder what I am missing by not seeing the world, but vacationing at home does have its advantages, too. One time, my DH and I got desperate to get away just once, but didn't want to bother anyone with the dogs, so we flew to Orlando in the morning, went to Universal Studios, and flew home that evening. We were exhausted but had a blast. So much so that later in the year, we did the same thing again and went to Epcot. Not as much fun-rained all day!! Still was great to get out of our routine, though. Sorry, got wordy, here-obviously the word vacation puts me in a hypnotic state!

Lora, Deb & Anne-thanks for your kind words of welcome today! :)

Have a great night everyone...off to check on those yoginis before bed!

Jen

Good evening maniacs! Went to see "Norbit". I liked it! Course I was in the mood for something corney and on the stupid side.:) DH is making me some pizza. :9

Diane Sue- I copied that rotation. It looks like a good one.

Jen- Great you decided to stay! What kind of dogs do you have? Most of us have dogs here or at least cats ;). I know the feeling of having difficult dogs to leave. Mine gets diarrhea when she knows we are leaving, and she doesn't like just anyone to watch her. She tortures us on purpose. LOL! Awesome workout by the way!

Janie- Step away from the Smith Machine and give us a report!:)

Dallys,

Just now got home from East of the mountains. So glad to be home.

My DH has the Smith Machine all built and ready for me when I arrived home. What a sweety he is. The neatest man ever.

I'm going to wash the grime away a figure out a rotation to follow. Although Diane Sue has a fantastic one going on. I'm really considering that one. We'll see.

Everyone sounds good and healthy, and I also see new faces. Welcome Everyone, you are going to enjoy this little piece of Maniacs. They are all awesome!

See you all tomorrow and sleep tight.

Janie

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

Quick hello! I just got home from a looooong day.

WELCOME BACK AMBER!!!!!! Can't wait to hear all about Mexico!

Janie - before I forget - I spray my Smith machine with WD40 every 5th or so time that I use it to keep it moving smoothly. And you might have to do that the first time too. Makes a big difference. Have fun! What a sweet DH you have!

I'll try to check with you all tomorrow. I've been off work since last Wednesday so lots to catch up on. Hopefully though I'll get to say hi to you all. I miss you ladies!

ETA: Oh - but the kicker is that even though I was off work, I was busy busy busy on the phone b/c our Shelter blew it again. We have dog training classes there and get this. They had ANOTHER outbreak of canine influenza - EXTREMELY contagious. Well, they FORGOT TO TELL US!!! So we had dog training classes out there Monday night (puppies), Tuesday night and Wednesday night (they're closed by the time our instructor gets there). One of our students saw a note on the front door Wednesday - we don't use the front door. Can you believe it? I got a call that night at home from the instructor. I e-mailed the shelter director right away. He e-mailed me back the next morning a flippant - oh, sorry we overlooked you. So now all these dogs are at risk - especially the puppies. So I was at DH's work the next day, asked the Chief of Police how long they had known (he's still on the board - I used to be on it with him - he says I'm so smart for leaving and he's NOT), he said they had known before our classes were out there. He was really angry we weren't informed. Apparently I'm getting a phone call tomorrow from the shelter director apologizing again. Thing is, it's not the first time they've forgotten to inform us. This shelter is a mess. Do you guys remember the last case of canine influenza when they euthanized almost all of the dogs in the entire shelter?
