Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Monday 9-11

Oh yes, I love this rotation. Yeah, I know..hear ya my maniac benching friend!!! Cheat curls you gotta try....it will expand your arms. Well it helped mine. When I first started doing them my dd noticed my arms were getting bigger. Remember, you are cheating, but you are still working the lower bicep muscle and forearms. What you do is get on a preacher bench and just have someone help you with handing you the weighted barbell and then you keep curling as much as you can at a angle, going down as much as you can, but being able to bring bar up. This really has worked for me and my legs use to shake uncontrollably until I got use to it so brace your feet and your core and try!!!!!

So whatcha gonna do next when your done with this?

Love that bike picture of you! I wish we could ride together. Your workout room goes on forever. That is so neat you have all that equipment. You are really working that band too doing your pullups. Your pictures are so motivating! Thanks for sharing.

Charlotte - I know I've read in the past (I think from Cathe's - Ask Cathe Forum - but I know we're not supposed to say ..Cathe Says) that everyone genetically has their strength limits. So maybe Debbie is genetically predisposed to build muscle easier than you or I and to lift more than you or I. I know you're sort of small on top - like me- Ectomorph's. We really need to work hard at building muscle. Don't be so hard on yourself. You're a maniac. Hey, I'm only doing side laterals with 12# dumbbells now and chest presses with 25 pounders...but I've come a heck of a long way. I need to buy a 30 pound set though cuz I'm ready. I probably shouldn't tell you guys what I lift .......talking about wuss!! . My Platemates really started helping me increase my weight! (PS ...I'm getting sooooooo addicted to Mme Moriarity and my Chyrsanthymum (spelling?) Moon order shipped today!! Yay)

Debbie - I'm going to watch GH in about 15 minutes. I'll let you know. I certainly hope not and I certainly can't stomach another ENTIRE episode about Lulu and her baby!! YIKES! Let me see more of Jason and I'm happy!!

Diana Sue - You might be petite, but you sure are mighty. An 85 pounder, huh? Is that your husband's?? LOL. By the way, I'm a bit bummed. I bought that new Shiva Rea Yoga DVD Fluid Power and I didn't really know it wasn't traditional yoga. It's fluid wave yoga....weird yoga ...like Trance Dance. I haven't tried it yet, but I paid $29.99 for it. It has a lot of material on it and is set up like Yoga Shakti, but I was counting on regular yoga. I'll probably try some of it on Saturday and I'll see how it is. I know I only use Trance Dance in the evenings cuz it's so non-traditional....and it's hard to catch on to cuz she's moving all of these different ways that I'm not familiar with. Also - Didn't your piriformis/hip start bothering you towards the end of your P90X rotation? I think I remember you complaining about it in your final phase and I told you that it was most likely from PlyoX....and I think you played around with it and then agreed. Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
Charlotte - so you are using your shoulders to get the weight up, right? Kind of like a cheat curl when you use a barbell while standing? Sounds painful girl! LOL! I have to put weights at the front of my bench so it doesn't tip over when I do preachers. What a pain that is. I almost killed myself the first time I did them. I'm going to continue this program but the next 8 weeks I'm going to do a pyramid style full body. Gotta make it up myself but it shouldn't be too hard.

Lora - I'm thinking my VCR didn't tape today's somehow, not sure why? But it was just weird how I rewound one day's worth of tape. I'm going to watch Soapnet tonight to see what I missed. I'm also sick of LuLu's baby storyline.

I do it in steps. Bring the bar up to the top of the preacher and then the rest of the way up, from there I take it as far back down as I can go and keep bringing back up. Just repeating. Really hard on your wrist that I could really, and probably should wrap them. I have a tendency to curl my wrist when doing these, but that just works the forearms more.

Well I just heard some horrible news from dd. Says there were about 4 guys that raped a girl. Same town I ride my bike thru all the time. They used sticks and they ruptured something inside the girl. Really don't have much more info to go on until I get the newspaper as dd just told me what she knew. I just know the guys are in their early 20's and the girl is 23. This just sickens me and so now I will need to bring mace along or something next time I go. This is not going to keep me from riding. Very sick though.

Charlotte- how disturbing! I can't believe that. I always get nervous when I run outside, even thought it is such a small town here, but where I run is pretty secluded. Geesh. Thanks for the comments on my progress. Maybe I can take pics after my shower.

Deb and Lora- Lulu is annoying me too!

You guys are all amazing, and I think you ALL lift heavier then me LOL!!

I just did a great run outside, haven't done that in a while. I need to do tris now. I am thinking of doing hi-lo from SJP too.

I did 3 sets of 10-12

lying DB extensions (first 5 with 15# then dropped!!!)
overhead extensions
kickbacks
dips with 8# DB in lap!!

I supersetted these, except for taking a 30 sec break before dips.
I think I am done for the night!

I finally got in my shoulders. I had to go do some grocery shopping after the grandchildren went home. I did Slow & Heavy shoulders. Shoulders are my weak area and I don't like working them.
front raise 10#dumbbells
side lateral raise 15# then dropped to 12#dumbbells
posterior raise 10#dumbells
seated overhead press 20# dumbbells
lying rotator cuff 5# dumbbell

Dallys, I hold the sides of the dumbbell as I squat like Cathe does. I need my gloves for this :) Your workout room looks so big. I wish I had room for that much equipment.

Charlotte, looks like you are really getting some development ing the lat area. Keep it up! Your dh and son look great. You can tell your family is into fitness.

Lora, I did have hip and thigh pain. Right along the upper back of my thighs. It still nags at me sometimes. It feels like spasms and tightness. It did start when doing p90x. The first time I felt it was right at the end after I had done Plyo X. I have started not doing hi impact as often and not doing running hard on the treadmill often as that aggravates it. I walk and do a moderate paced run minus the incline. I am hoping I can build back to it. It really kind of makes me mad:(

Charlotte, be careful on those bike rides. That story is so scary! I'd take maze and a tazor gun!! Yikes!

Diane Sue, I thought you might do that lift like Cathe did. My workout room is pretty big, but I did have to sacrifice a family room for it.;) We got that Huge weight machine from a Fire Station. Unbelievable it doesn't have a squat rack. My DH uses the calf raise station for squats, but it hurts my shoulders that way. It's actually way to big. Some day we'll buy something alittle more modern and smaller. But, I'm not complaining. :) Good thing my DH is in to lifting too.

Oh, where's the kid? :(
