Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for June 2016

Today I did Plyo Fix Extreme, 31 minutes, 235 calories. I then did Pilates Fix Extreme 33 minutes, 132 calories. I finished off with Icy Core 1 11 minutes, 42 calories. Total time was 75 minutes and calories burned 409.

Debbie, nice calorie burn for that short of time. Yes, sometimes those tasks will push something already brewing further. I am sure a break will do you good.

Jolie, I noticed that some of the Fitbits had very small readouts. I have not really looked over the Blaze.

Today I walked 2.5 miles on my treadmill and and worked up a good sweat. I did it on a 2% incline, not much of an incline but it gets my heartrate up. I got about 5500 steps.

Great workouts yesterday! Hope you all have great ones today as well!

No workout for me today. I went to bed last night with a sore throat so I dosed up with vitamins and woke up feeling ok today. I don't want to push it and get sick because my family and I are going to Big Bear Lake for a 3 day weekend and I want to feel good. I noticed a lot of people are getting sick! I hate summer flus and colds.

Nice workout Roselyn and Debbie.

Have a nice day.

Today's workout was 21 Day Upper Body Extreme 38 minutes, 177 calories. I messed up and did all of the concentration curls on the right so, at the end I went back and did two rounds of the biceps with a break between them on the left. I then did Kelly Coffey's Cardio Pump workout 1 cardio, 30 minutes, 181 calories. I finished off with 21 Day Fix Extreme Yoga, 31 minutes, 103 calories. 99 minutes, 461 calories.
My week is turning into a much busier week than I had imagined. I will have to do just the 21 Day Fix leg workout Thursday if I am going to fit it in. If I don't I will add it somewhere else. Got to leave in a bit to help my husband pick up a car.

Debbie, nice job on the walk today.

Jolie, I feel for you on starting to get sick. I just went through that but seem to have bounced back. I hope that you stay feeling better.

Roselyn, good job at always getting those workouts in.

Debbie as Roselyn, does the Fit bit blaze and surge have rechargeable batteries?

Today I did Cardio Coach 6 with Candace. Had an excellent workout. I did all of it, usually I skip Challenge 3 but I decided to do it today. Glad I did even though I do not like that challenge. My elbow feels much better now so I should be good to go next week with weights.

Workout was 54 minutes, ran 3.5 miles, burned 373 calories (TM said 519) and went 7169 steps.

Diane Sue - I just have to charge mine every 3 days or so. I have had many Fitbits and never and to replace the battery.

Jolie - Hope you are feeling better today. Summer colds are the worst sometimes!!!

Roselyn - Nice job with your workout!

Today I am feeling a little better so I decided to workout. I did Cathe Live Tri-Set Legs again and had a great workout. I upped the weights some and it was tough. I modified the lunges with leg ext., leg curls, bent legged dead lifts, slide back lunges with the discs and narrow stance squats. She does a lot of lunge sequences in this workout which I cannot do due to my toe and knees. Workout was 1 hour and I burned 485 calories. I was drenched when I was done. I also added some ab exercises just because!

Nice workouts everyone as always!

I have been doing abs 3 times a week and I cant believe the change in my stomach! It is getting cut and you can see the muscles, which I love. I had two C Sections in one year so my abs are not my best feature. :( My boys are 11 months apart so my stomach never had time to recover from one baby to the next.

I did a two mile dog walk this morning as well! I try to walk my dog each day so that helps me get my steps in.

Have a wonderful day.

Today I wanted a good cardio day. I started with Intensity timesaver step and low hiit, 45 minutes, 334 calories. My heartrate here was only 123 avg/ 152 max. I used to do better than that with this. I then did Ice Low Impact Sweat workout 2 with muscle meltdown back, 44 minutes, 245 calories, avg 111/ max 147. Total time 92 minutes, 579 calories. I also did fitness blender upper stretching routine, 11 minutes since my neck and shoulder has been bothering me a bit and then I did You Tube Sarah Beth Yoga Static Yoga Cool down. This was 15 minutes and loosened up the neck and shoulders some more and I always kind of like the up the wall version of the figure 4 stretch. I did not count the yoga. These were slow paced.
Editing here to add my muscle meltdown weights
Giant set done 3 times 5 exercises 12 reps
1 arm row 25#
pullover 30#
wide one arm row 25#
1 arm pullover 15#
deadlift 25# each hand

I feel I am staying pretty light on the 21 Day Fix Extreme. Usually my max weight is 15# for the heavy since most things she does a heavy and a light drop set. Once in awhile there is a move that I pick up 20#

Debbie, thanks on the Surge. I have read good things about the accuracy of the Blaze but the one complaint is taking the frame off to charge it. Most people say around 4-5 days on a charge with it and I had wondered if, because I do longer workouts it would take the battery down even faster. It is nice to know they are rechargeable. I was worried that I would be out buying batteries every few days. I am glad that your elbow is feeling good.

Jolie, you managed to keep that a great workout despite the toes and knees. Nice work. I love working abs a lot. You will notice I do them a lot. I particularly like weighted work for the abs but not too heavy. Particularly on the obliques. I have seem some people with great physiques but they build themselves a barrel shaped belly. I can always see the cuts in my abs and I imagine it is because I like to work them so much. I bet doing them more and all of the metabolic work you are getting in is making the difference.
I remember going to Big Bear a lot when I was a child. We went for picnics and family fun trudging around the woods. I am sure that you will have fun.

Today I walked on my treadmill for 2 miles on a 3% incline and then I did the ab work from KP&C. Love that one! Reading what Jolie wrote yesterday, I need to do abs more, my goal for the upcoming weeks is to try and do abs at least twice a week, if not three. I have really been neglecting them. Jolie, you gave me motivation to do my abs more. I used to love ab work and now I hate it for some unknown reason. Maybe because it seems like I never have time to do them. I just know I have to make time.

Diane Sue - My avg. HR yesterday with CC #6 was 114. How is that possible? The highest it went yesterday was like 128. I used to hit 163 when doing these workouts and now I might hit 130. I don't get it. I was breathing very hard, actually weezing at one point and my HR was still in the 120's. And it actually felt like my HR was that low. I put my finger on my neck to feel it and it wasn't beating all that hard at all.

Roselyn - Nice workouts!

Jolie - Nice job yesterday and thanks for the motivation. Glad you are feeling better.

Hope you all have great workouts today!!!

Today I only had time to do 21 Day Fix Lower body Extreme, 34 minutes, 213 calories. avg hr 117/max 138. I sometimes wonder how the heart rate monitor does it's calculations. I was sweating and worked harder on the jump moves and 20's for the squats and the rest 15's. I had to get out to my daughter's. I took a protein shake with me made up with Amazing Grass Protein and Greens.

Debbie, sometimes I will have a reading of up to 110 for yoga and find it hard to believe that I am working with the same effort doing a cardio workout. When I used my Bluetooth HR monitor with Map My Fitness it gave me really high readings on calorie burns for things like yoga and floor work and I didn't feel it was accurate so I would go to the Calories burned app and put in the avg HR to see what it said. I finally just started using the Polar app. Polar is low by about 20-30 calories per hour for most cardio workouts. I would love a really accurate reading. My watch will give a heart rate avg 1 over the Bluetooth with the polar app. Most of the cardio coach workouts I would get up to 158 most of the time as a max HR. If I got into the 160 range I was usually pushing 8 plus mph. I have just come to the acceptance of having lower readings. I loved it when I would do a workout and burn 800 to 1000 calories in a day. Not so at all anymore. I have done the Fitness Blender 1000 calorie workouts and burned 450 calories. I was working hard and can't figure how anyone can get that reading. I saw someone on a Beachbody Challenge post pictures of their device readings at double the calories on the same workouts I did. I also saw this on a Paleo Crossfitters readings and I just sit there with my Jaw dropped in wonderment.

Checking in late today... so busy, getting ready to go out of town for a few days. Todays workout was Cathe Live, Upper Body Sculpting, and I burned 365 calories. This workout included core, which I did not like the exercises, so I did my own. I liked this workout, it moves very fast so you need to use lighter weights but you really get a burn. It is high reps and about 3 to 4 exercises per body part, two rounds.

Debbie, I notice that I love abs now because it is easier to do once you get some strength in your ab muscles. I used to dread them so I avoided doing them. I am not sure if I will ever have awesome abs due to the stretched out stomach skin from having babies. With that said, I am going to try extra hard to make my abs look good. :) Great treadmill workout, I have to go back to that soon. I find It helps me burn fat better than anything else. I like to do a high incline approximately 8% for about 30 minutes, you really get a butt burner workout.

Roselyn, nice workouts this week. I am kind of missing lifting heavy but I welcome this change, I was getting board.

Diane Sue, great workout and good on your food as always. Before I sat down to write this, I made Rice Crispie Treats to take on vacation and had one!o_O I'm not very disciplined am I???

I have to say that since I switched up my workouts and am getting a higher calorie burn, I am starving all of the time!!! I need to make good choices or I am going to end up looking like a BEAST!

You all have a nice weekend and I will workout and check in on Monday.

Today I did Cardio Coach 1. Dang, three CC workouts this week!!! I did well on this one and had fun. I really enjoy running now, I remember when I despised it and any type of cardio. Love it now.

Workout was 36 minutes, ran 2.36 miles and burned 237 calories (TM said 331). Went 4861 steps.

So do you guys remember that ab routine I used to do that I got from Oxygen magazine? I swore by it? Well, I found the workout and I want to start doing it again, only thing is, I got rid of my pull up station and can't do hanging leg raises anymore. However, I do have one of those pull up bars that is in my doorway but I need to get hanging sleeves to help hold me up. I need to order some, I hope I can find them. I can't think of another way to do hanging leg raises, anyone have any idea??

Hope you all have great workouts!!! So glad it's Friday!!

Debbie, I have a door pull up bar. I put my high step with enough rises to hold onto the bar and assist with a toe. I can do knee raises without assistance but straight legs I can not do. My problem is the hanging position with straight arms puts the rotator cuff in a vulnerable position. That is what my doctor told me anyway. I am not sure of another way other the hanging sleeves. Maybe Google ideas or check hanging exercises from a bodybuilding site. I do kneeling crunches and obliques with a door attachment that works pretty well but it doesn't get the lower area as well.

I ended up being rushed again. Today I did 21 Day Fix Extreme Cardio, 33 minutes, 249 calories. I then did 21 Day Fix Extreme Hardcore abs, 11 min. 51 calories. I finished with Ice Core 2, 13 min. 50 calories. Total time was 57 minutes and calories burned 350 calories. I have my grandson here detailing one of our cars.

Deb, that looks like it would work well. It should protect the shoulders. Is your door attachment attached to the door frame? I have an iron gym that doubles as a push up stand that I put in my door. I don't need it for the push ups though. I have the perfect push ups stands and most of the time I just use the floor. I miss my dip station that I had. It worked nice with the padded back for doing leg raises and knee raises. I used to be able to do them with a med ball between my knees.

Diane Sue - Yes, it's attached to the door frame so it's very secure.

I also had a pull-up/dip station that had padding and arms I could safely do leg raises on. I gave it to the Boys & Girls club a couple years ago. It just took up too much room plus i' m not doing pull-ups anymore. I hope these sleeves work ok, they should.
