Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Friday May 23

Eating has been off today. Just to busy. by 11 am I had not eaten anything. I ended up eating a Muscle Milk light bar in the car. Then later after things were put away and my grandchildren were settled with lunch I ate another Muscle Milk light bar because my grandbaby needed to eat soooooon. Later I had 1/2 cup Dannon light and fit vanilla yogurt. This is way to sweet for me. Wish the plain was better. I am trying to remember what grocer has one that is plain with splenda as sweetener. That was my best option.

Suz, so sorry about the bike accident. You are lucky that it was not to bad. If you tear off to much skin it takes a long time to heal. Helmets are great. I have first hand seen bike helmets and motorcycle helmets save the face and head several times. I am glad you decided to have your dh coach you. I do believe that less cardio is better. Wish I did not love it so much. I am planning on doing STS as is. ( I am sure if I keep telling everyone this I will do it :) ) Those tornados were frightening. Keep safe. I want a shelter.

Dallys - Too funny! DH just can't quit asking how I crashed both sides of my bike. So he's decided that I must have endoed. He thinks I must have hit my brakes and then gone over the handle bars. But I was looking at my jacket when I got home to see if there were any big tears that I might want to fix and there's a pretty decent hole in the upper BACK! What the heck? So I must have just been rolling around the road. :p Don't be afraid to draft off of people. I've hit DH's wheel before - a bunch of little taps b/c I couldn't get off of it and I didn't crash. You don't always crash. She just happened to turn her bike out and that's why I crashed. Sometimes it just happens. But it's so much more efficient to draft. What you do is WAY more dangerous!

Diane Sue - You sure didn't eat much today. Let me know how you do with less cardio. I think we've had that discussion before about loving cardio so much. I'm an admitted cardio junkie and it's a hard habit to break. DH said I could do cardio 6 days a week, but I'd be surprised if he stuck to it. :)

Off to soak in Epsom salt...

Dallys, so you like Jullian Micheal's shred?? I see it but am always unsure how that would work. Good to hear from you. Been missing you on the check ins.

Suz, I keep saying that I need to lower cardio. In my head I know it would work for me if I keep the clean diet. I eat clean most of the time so really just need to change up the workouts. I did lower cardio before(due to surgury) and did not gain any weight. I just think a clean diet and following a good weight program is key. You burn quite a few calories with effort and weight workouts.
So glad your dh is still working with you:) So now you have the best coach!

Diane Sue - I don't know why we get it in our heads that we have to do so much cardio. Look at the Body for Life plan. They only do 20 minutes of HIIT cardio 3 times a week and look at the results! And I know you eat as clean as they do. So maybe it's because we've been working out for soooooo many years and cardio was the thing back then. I started working out 30 years ago - when I was in high school. I did a little weight work at the gym, but cardio was my focus. And then I started running when I was 19 and off I went.

Yup, DH is sticking with me. And I'm doing what he says and trying really hard not to complain that it's not working. I'm sure he knows what he's talking about, so I'll do what he says. I'm lucky to have him helping me because he truly has my best interests at heart.

Diane Sue- Thanks! I do need to get back to posting more often. I like Shred because it's short and intense and I'm not getting overwhelmed with too taxing of a rotation on top of my biking (because that's taxing enough as is) and I want to keep some weight lifting going for maintenance. I've read that some people are using it for their cardio day as an interval workout. I'm sure you'd find uses for it as creative as you are. Plus, it's only like 10 bucks at Wal-Mart, you can't lose :). The workouts are only 20 some odd minutes and from what I've read, you do Level 1 for 10 days, Level 2 for 10 days, and Level 3 for 10 days. I'm probably only doing it 5 times a week and I just do whatever one I want. I lift heavier than she does too on alot of exercises, but not what we here would call real heavy lifting. The ab work is not all that hard, but that's ok with me for now.
