Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Friday Dec 8

Morning,

Today's workout was P90X Legs & Back and the AbX. Great workout for my legs. I like these types of leg workouts better than a bunch of barbell squats and such. AbX was harder for me today for some reason, but I persevered and even did as many Mason Twists as the gang. Oh yeah, I had a protein drink afterwards. Is this a good recovery drink? 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder, 8 oz. of fat free milk, 1/2 banana and a dap of natural peanut butter? It was yummy!!!

Lora, I know you'll pull out of this. Things will get better. Don't have too much of the yogurt and chocolate, you'll only feel worse.

Amber, I've been sleeping like a log since doing P90X for some reason. Yep, Eoin and Shiva. Lora is the guru on yoga workouts. She has tons of recommendations and she's right on with them. I'm sure she'll recommend some others. I know I need to do more, but I just don't put the time in to doing them regularly. Now with P90X, I'm sure going to do either YogaX or something else. I'm doing the more rep workouts with Tony too.

Maeghan, good for you for listening to your body. Whatever you are doing is working well.

Anne, sounds like you are very busy. Have fun with the Dec. rotation.

Diane Sue, why are you selling your house? I've only moved once as an adult in my life an it was a big thing. They just about can't blast me out of here. Good workout for you.

Charlotte, I wasn't absolutely crazy about YogaX, so I may be subbing. Lora is THE WOMAN when it comes to yoga recommendations to sub. She knows her stuff. Vein work, huh? I'd like to someday SEE the veins in my arms. I have some veins in my legs and HUGE veins in my feet and hands. They don't count in the cool book for me. My mom has really bad spider veins on her thighs but I only have a couple and hope they don't get worse.

Deb, good workout for you. I emailed a HRM company to see if they could suggest a HRM that doesn't react to TV interference. Mine didn't work at all 2 days ago. Bummer as I'd like to see the calorie burn and know what range I'm in.

Dallas, what workouts do you do to maintain your P90X results? I'd be interested in knowing. I'm with you, I haven't paid attention to Tony's lips. I keep looking at his arms and thighs. I like his style of training.

Randi, sounds like you really need to take a rest week and skip workouts until your body is stronger.

See! I'm so dense today! It like took me a good minute to figure out why "drink water"...what did I say to get that response? Oh! I get it, I'm having a bad-for-me diet coke! Sorry I'm making no sense.. And I don't even work with hairspray!! LOL!



Jeanette- I have no idea what I'm doing to maintain. I'm all over the place with my workouts since P90X. I've got to figure something out quick. I'm working out with no rhyme or reason here.

Done with P90X Legs/Back. I liked the workout, but I do miss my barbells and such. Went with same weight Tony did for calf raises, etc. except for second time around went with 30's again. I need the extra weight..I have no calf muscle to speak of. Maybe someday I will find it? I did some lat pulldowns to substitute some of the pullups. I can only get to about 6 and then the rest of the pullups are assisted. I don't know how those other women do all of them. I really do like the groucho walk..anything related to plie squats I just love. Feels so great.

Ab Ripper X tonight. This one is gonna get easier and easier everytime.

So you like Yoga X? Really burns the shoulders, huh? Doing that workout, you cannot have any interruptions at all. I have to learn to have patience. I cannot stand same moves over and over again. I was watching the clock the entire time. Shame on me! lol

Char- That's what I did. I did Pull-ups the first half and pull-downs the second. I did all the workouts with back that way. I also used my calf station for calves. I don't have any either. Hopefully you'll be sore tomorrow. That workout always crepted up on me the next day! Yowsa!

I'm done with work and I'm thinking of taking on Megs challenge of doing Imax 3!

Gotta eat some lunch first.

Charlotte, no, I wasn't really crazy about YogaX. 90 minutes is a long time. I will be subbing, but who knows, maybe YogaX will grow on me. I love poses where your legs are burning and shaking. I remember doing Bryan Kest's power yoga series and they got to me then so I think they probably still will. I don't have a pullup bar, just my Bowflex and I do the Lat Pulldowns. I'm at 50# (measly compared to Diane Sue and Susan), but am going to up it next time because I can do at least 15. Will bump it up 10 pounds next time. I just installed a DVD drive on my computer so now I can do AbX at night if my mornings are running late. That way I won't tie up the TV in the evening. Should have thought of that sooner. I'm surprised it worked for me. I already tested it with P90X Bring It and it worked!

I think YogaX has been the hardest workout to like of the bunch for most people. But, it eventully ends up to be a favorite for some. I ended up liking it alot. Maybe because I could do all the poses by the end. It's a challenge for sure.

ETA: My first round, I subbed alot with Eoin and some others, but this last round I never subbed. Weird. (thinking to myself here, lol)

I am dying here. I have an awful belly ace... I still have 2 updo's and a cut to do. HELP!!! 2 malox and still hurts...

You guys...I didn't realize this until reading the posts above...and I think Char's comment. We have a lat tower...should I be doing those pulldowns vs. pullups and chinups, or maybe the band like I talked about a few days ago for half, then switch to that.

I'm just thinking about chest and back on monday...and knowing I have all those sets of stuff with no bar. It was kind of a voila moment.:7 :7 :D

Yes, I have to admit, I think the YogaX will be a hit with me.

Just finished Ab RipperX. Went with 15# db for mason twist this time. This is easier for me. The hard move for me in this is when you lay sideways and bring legs up. Anyone else?

In any event, I'm sorry to 'highjack' this thread, I just wanted to say that I know you'll make it through this. And major kudos to you for working out today. I'm proud of you, and so are a lot of other folks. Just remember that!

Thanks Jillybean and everyone. I just got home from work and I'm not going back. I'll try to make a long story short. My 8:30 AM meeting with HR did not go well. I feel I was treated very disrespectful by the hospital. They had the Secretary meet with me to go over my options and I won't even go into detail about her, but she is a real piece of work. When I first was starting in the dept. I was in and went to get my pic for my name badge - she warned me about my boss and put the fear of death in me...I had been told this before I even walked in my office. I thought that was inappropriate. I like to get my own sense of someone's personality...I don't need help seeing how someone is!! Anyway, I found out I was losing my job by her bringing a crappy letter to my boss and me walking in on the conversation. Thought I should have been called up to HR. For my meeting today, I met with this Secretary, and she did not give me any information that was useful. I was livid. I did not sign the papers yet to be released, as I need questions answered about my Vacation time and 401K, etc.

Since I have only missed 2 sick days in the 2 years and 10 months I've been there, I have 197 sick hours accumulated that will just be TAKEN from me if I don't get sick and use them. My last day on the job is supposed to be 12/29 and I was informed that I have to train the person bumping me for 2 weeks. This sent me over the edge. I packed up my desk and spoke with my boss. I will be calling off on Monday and next week, I'm going to the doctor's to get a slip stating I'm too sick to work for the next 3 weeks. This way - I'll get 3 weeks of sick pay and then on the 29th....I'll lose my job. I don't think I could work in that stressful situation - or at least I don't think it would be healthy for me right now. I'm off to update my resume. No jobs found yet.....but I pray I find one by the end of the month.
 
Lora- Good for you for standing your ground. It's horrible the way they have delt with all of this. The nerve of them asking you to train the 'new' girl. That is so degrading! I'm proud of you for taking your vacation the rest of the time. It's yours and you deserve it and should get compentsated for it. You do not need to spend another second working there. Great for you for not signing anything and giving yourself time to do what right for you and get all you've worked for. I'm praying you'll find a great job by the end of the year. Please don't let this get you down. You are such a strong person, don't forget that.

This might make you laugh...I was making my own imps from my large bottles and spilled Blinding Glory of Love. I sucked up as much as I could and the rest I could not I ended up wiping with napkin and since I don't want it to go to waste, I just wiped the napkin all over my body. I smell like a french whore right now! I think I have half the bottle on my belly. LMAO!

Ok Toastywhore, I think I can top that (well maybe not, LOL!). I finally located my missing DVD's my daughter sent me (after she borrowed them). They are at Cathe.com! They just emailed me with a WTH? LOL! She also sent me some ProActive. LOL! So, they are sitting there wondering why I sent them my DVD's with some ProActive and no explaination whatsoever. Oh!!!! I loves me my Daughter!:) I'm frigging never going to get these babies!

Oh and I forgot to mention.....I only had 1 Very Cherry Yogurt today and ZERO chocolate. I even turned down fresh, homemade brownies at my Mom's and came home and had a sugar free DQ fudge bar (50 calories) instead. (a very difficult thing for me to do TODAY).

I just updated my resume & references - now all I need is a job.

Toasty - I'm only the 2nd secretary bumped so far...but the hospital is in the midst of MAJOR downsizing....so I'm sure they'll be plenty more. I'm bound to get bumped by someone though since I'm the low man on the totem pole........not like I haven't been working my whole life, but I just keep having to start at the bottom every 2 years!!

Off to lie on my balls and watch GH.
 
Yes, I could definitely use some whoredom about now! LOL! Geez, what a fiasco with the DVD's. I had only opened 2 of them before my daughter borrowed them and swore she'd bring them back on Thanksgiving. So, there they sit on Cathes desk with the ProActive. LOL!

That is so funny. Cathe must be cracking up! O.k., I am getting ready to get my children and a friend from the movies. I am gonna stop by and get some mocha coffee. I wonder what reactions I will get with the way I smell? LMAO!

ETA: I bring my own milk with me when I go there. I don't want them giving me whole milk...ew gross. I put splenda in there myself. Just so ya'll know I am not eating/drinking like a cow coming home. lol

I am really sorry you are going thru this, but it is bound to only get better. You have to remain positive. Just take one day at a time. That is what I will be doing when FIL comes. OMG!
