Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Checkin for Saturday 2/18

Hi Ladies -

This morning I AGAIN pulled out my Pam Cosmi Steppin' Rhythm DVD and did the warmup and block 2 and then I continued on with block 3 for my cooldown. I then did Power Half Hour (Beachbody) Stretch which is like stretch yoga.

After doing this DVD again, I have a tiny, tiny bit of hope that some day I'll be able to do it fairly well. I don't think I'll ever get it to the point of being able to end up on the correct side of the step or foot though! After doing these blocks though, I see that this will be SO much fun after you learn it. It has a lot of syncopated rhythms and I sorta like those. At least I didn't trip over my own two feet and sprain my ankle this week. I guess this will continue to be my Saturday aerobics session every week instead of a rest day until I learn it and then I can start taking rest days!! How's that for a goal??? I've still not taken one since October!! but today's session was only moderate ....so it's semi rest in my eyes!

Have great workouts everyone. I'm VERY happy it's the weekend and I have Monday off. No thoughts of that place until Monday. I also have my appt. with the ENT specialist on Monday. My DH is going with me in case he discusses surgical options with me.

Dallas - Yes, I have Brand New Butt....both of them. I haven't done them in ages, but from what I remember, they were hard (back then - but that was pre-Cathe) and I thought they were okay. Butt and legs are my problem area and I really should work them more than I do....maybe I'll have to break that one out in the near future when I finish my TLT/Firm Rotation and before I start another rotation. Let me know what you think of EFM. It is a workout that uses a lot of body weight exercises (sort of like Core Synergestics) and I think that's why I dislike it....cuz I'm not allowed to do body weight exercises with my injury and have to do pushups on the wall and she does this segment of pushups with paperplates under your hands sliding them and then pushups with them under your feet doing sliding mountain climbers. It's just a very hard one to modify. Also - what did the doctor say is wrong with your foot? I never saw you give a reason why you're having pain. Speaking of foot pain, these Saucony shoes are the best! I didn't wear them this week and my plantar fasciitis started acting up....so I must start wearing them again. They are really good for that! (you also asked me about what happened at work - basically, my boss called me in her office and actually had a sit down meeting with me telling me that I go to the restroom too often and I must have a problem so she wants a note from my doctor -- it's quite ridciulous - so I called my Hourly Rep and reported it to HR). She's not allowed to do this according to them. NOw she's being really mean to me cuz they talked to her about it.

Sorry for the length. I think we're going to see Firewall and Date Movie this week. I have no idea what they are about. My DH picked them and I have to go look them up now. I'll let everyone know how they are. Off for my Saturday soak in Epsom Salts for my aching neck and shoulders.

Lora-Glad you are getting better at your DVD and the steps. I have trouble trying to get any step workout. I can't believe you have not taken a rest day since October, that is a long time. I hope everything goes well at your doctors appointment on Monday and it is nice that you Dh is going with you. Have a nice time at the movies. Do let us know how the movies are.

What are the Brand New Butt dvd's? Sounds like what I need. That is the area that is driving me nuts right now. lol

Well tonight is the big night, to freeze my butt off it looks like. lol I cannot believe how cold it is suppose to be. I am going to have to find something to wear over my dress. We are leaving around 4:45 since social time starts at 5:45 and we eat at 6:30. I am going to soak in the tub and then go get my hair done.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, I woke up with a sore throat. :-( I guess it was inevitable to get something from the kids. Hmmm, the stomach flu, impetigo or a sore throat. I think I'll take the sore throat. ha ha! I just hope it doesn't go into strep! The babysitter got here last night and said I thought they were sick. lol That's why I knew it was OK to go out because they were fine Friday morning. The power of antibiotics!

We saw the movie Eight Below. That was a good, feel-good movie. There was nothing else starting when we got to the movies. We were going to see either the Harrison Ford or Samuel Jackson movie. Oh well, maybe next time. Lora, you can give me your reviews. I know that you'll see them before we get there again.

Lora ~ Thanks for the help with the Janis DVDs. So, you think that they are easier than Cathe? That's what happened when I bought Core Secrets. It wasn't challenging and I had to send it back. Are the two DVDs similar though? Maybe I should stick w/that special edition of Oxygen and see what happens. My problem is right now I don't want to do a lot of lunges, squats, etc because of my foot. It is getting better, but every time I try to do lunges I feel it! :-( The doctor I went to see never said anything about my foot! In fact, he said go back to exercise. He was a crack pot! If it gives me trouble again I'll follow up with my neighbor.

Diane Sue ~ Thank you about my pictures! I'm sure you'll get back on track with your eating. I have cut my calories a lot because of the lack of cardio. How's your back?

Sabrina ~ You have a problem area?! Are you sure?!:p Have fun tonight! Yes, it is minus 20 right now. Brrrrr! I hate when I get dressed up like that and then have to find something to wear over it. I also hate my feet being cold, but you can't wear boots with such an elegant dress. lol

Dallas--Sorry you woke up with a sore throat. I hope it doesn't last. How are the kids today? Oh by the way I am sure that I have a problem area. I am just not willing to show it. heehee I think I sit on it too much at work! lol

Diana Sue - I meant to ask you....what did you do to your back? Did you hurt it doing deadlifts?

Dallas - I can't really remember the Brand New Butt ones that much. I know they are a lot harder than Core Secrets. Core Secrets are REALLY REALLY easy for me, but I've kept all of them, cuz Kathryn says they are good to use on recovery weeks. I plan on using them some day! LOL. I do think both of the Brand New Butt's are different enough to own both of them though.

I'll check back later. I just got thru listing a bunch of stuff on E-bay, but it hasn't been selling lately. Where am I going to get my fitness money?
 
Hi there!

About 10 seconds after I hit 'post' yesterday, we lost power until 6:30pm. Thanks goodness we had a gas fireplace installed this year. The house got REAL cold, REAL fast. With winds up to 70mph I could see how my house is NOT well insulated.

I ended up not doing any exercise yesterday. Right now I have Endurance for Motion-TLT in the DVD player. But just reading what Lora said about it, I'm not sure I want to do it (saying that's its hard to modify this w/o).

Sabrina, I looked at your picture trail and saw your dress. It's so pretty!! I LOVE the color. Orange makes the statement of being a self assured/confident person (I studied colors in collage). That shade goes very well with your skin and hair color too. Have a great time tonight.

Dallas, I'll cross my fingers that you don't get strep. That would stink. It's so hard NOT to catch what the kids bring home. My DH wants to go out tonight to a Regional wrestling tournament. I'm reluctant since there are lots of people and the baby is not even three weeks old. He REALLY wants to go, but wont if I stay home. So, we'll see. What do you think?

Good afternoon
Today I did P90X Plymetrics. I was pulled on this as I still have off and on twinges in my low back. It went well and I don't feel it. I have been careful to do modifications all week where needed. So far it is almost gone but I am at the point where I know one little thing could set it off again. At first when I would step out of bed I nearly fell on the floor if I landed on the foot that was the side I pulled. Now I am sleeping well and moving around without wincing:)

Lora, I am pretty sure that I pulled something in my low back thinking I was really flexible and did the wheel in Yoga X. I quit feeling soreness in my legs and have made it through this following the more advanced moves throughout so thought I could do it. I guess I over estimated my flexibility.

Susan it is a good thing you have a gas fireplace. I have the gas to light mine, but no wood here. We have been there though when out heater broke down. Nice at least having the fireplace. I think a gas log would be nice. It is very cold here today. 14 which is probably warmer than some of you are experiencing.

Dallas, I hope you get to feeling better. I guess when you have so many viruses around you, you are bound to pick up one. I used to pat myself on the back when I did daycare and misses some of the things the children bought in. BTW I forgot to mention what a great looking family you have as well. You must be close to my older daughters age. She has been married 11 years now. I just realized this summer she will be my second child to reach thirty. Boy does that make me feel old!

Lora, you were right about not being able to modify Endurance for strength. She starts out w/planks, then lays on the ball....that's when I put in Better Burn for Better Buns. I did that except for the abs.

I've decided not to go to the wrestling tournament. It's about a 45 minute or so drive and I'm nursing the baby...so, I'd get there, have to feed the baby, burp the baby, change the baby and we'd be leaving (we only watch the lower weight guys/girls).

Diane Sue, I'm glad you were able to do Plyo.X and your back is feeling better.

Hey guys!

Just thought I'd pop in for a quick minute...

I did take a full day of rest yesterday and I'm glad I did...

This morning I did 3.5-miles on my treadmill and then I taught a cardio/weights class.

I just returned not too long ago from my uncles funeral...It was very nice service. You know how some funerals can be so sad...this one uplifted my spirits tremendously.

Susan - I agree with you decision to stay home....plus it's really cold there and the baby does not need to be out.

Diane Sue - I'm glad you back is better, but I'm also glad you playing it safe.

Dallas - I sure hope you don't get too sick...guess you kinda expected to get something...didn't you? My kids rarely get sick...I'm really glad about that. Never one ear infection...never!
I'm sure you needed to hear that huh....(smile).

Lora - Have a great time and give us a review!! Enjoy the weekend... and don't think about that place you go during the week.
