Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Wed March 22

Cathlete
Morning Ladies -

This morning I slept in a bit again. I only had time to do Power 90 Masters Upper, Middle, Lower followed by Yoga Now 30 min core yoga workout. I really wanted to add some aerobics, but opted for the yoga instead since my low back and knees have been achy for some reason. I hope I don't regret this workout, as I did a few push ups on the floor and some off of a chair to see how my shoulders handle it. I also have been doing a few down dogs and chataranga's in yoga and I have had increased pain in my shoulders and down my upper back, but I'm hoping I can get to a point where I can do them without pain. My doctor said I'll never be able to do push ups.....we'll see.

I had a whole review of the Yoga Now DVD's typed out, but just deleted it, as I tend to babble about my yoga way too much for you ladies.

Diana Sue - I'm jealous cuz you'll be able to order CC #6 way before me. The MP3 download will be ready before the CDs. The CDs have to be sent off to be made.

Have great workouts ladies and I'll check back later.

Good Morning Maniacs!!

Yesterday I rested. Today I will be doing 1 set of BBM w/weights, Imax 2, 500 crunches (all angles) and chest/back off smith machine. I have all day to workout so I will get it all in.

Charlotte~~

Good morning Lovely Ladies!

This morning it's BBBB and PUB Shoulders, then Cardio Coach or Spinervals at the gym.

Lora - glad to see you're getting some sleep.

Charlotte - enjoy your day! Sounds like a wonderful thing - having all day to workout!

Hello to all of the wonderful women who follow!

Happy Hump Day to you Wonderful Ladies!!

This morning I did KPC...I mixed it up a bit, but in the end, I did the entire workout. I'll run and do some back work at lunch.

Lora - Alot of the ladies love hearing your review...don't stop now.

Toasty - All day to work out...must be nice. Hopefully, I can squeeze in a set of BBM today.

Christine - Good workout planned today...what did you end up doing at the gym yesterday?

Hi to all that follow...I'll be back.

Lora - I agree with Marietta - I'm always looking for a good yoga tape - don't stop reviewing them!

Marietta - ended up taking the step class. It's an advanced one and if you don't go weekly it gets confusing. So, I stopped and stared a few times (she can be as complicated as Cathe!), but I think I'll go back tomorrow and try again! :p My break from stepping, short as it was, made me realize how much I love it.

Hi All!

This AM I did an hour on the treadmill. I then did S&H Chest and Back. I wanted to get in my version of BBM too. I think I'll do that tonight w/my PT stretches. I have to go tomorrow for PT. I'm almost afraid to go. That woman hurt me! lol ;-) It's all good...the treadmill felt fine today! Oh, I hope it's getting there this time!

I have to run. My mil is coming to stay with the boys so I can do last minute errands for the party Friday.

I'll try and check back later...

Dallas

Hi All,

Just popping in for now. No workouts just yet. I'm catching up on housework. Yesterday the baby SCREAMED all day long. ALLLL DAAAYY.

Dallas, I had to go to PT once, and it was very painful at first. But, it did eventually work. Stick with it. Maybe the rest from your vacation with help it heal too. Don’t you leave real soon? The Oxygen issue was a special collector’s one that came out Winter 2006. It says Fat Loss, The Complete Guide for Women.

Terri, I’m glad your dad was able to go home. How are things going?

Christine, Do you take any supplements since you’re not eating meat? Once a month I’ll eat about an ounce of steak. I’m not too fond of it, but there is L-Carnitine in it.

Hi Nicole, Sabrina and Diane Sue!

Susan C.M.

Hello Everyone,
Today I will do SIM and PS legs

Ya Lora I always enjoy your reviews!! Now tell me about the turbo jams!! Do you do them that often??? I was not to sure of the first batch that they came out with.....They did not seem long enough, but I am kind of interested in the new ones.... I see they have to 50min ones.

So I can't wait for you and Sabrina to tell me about these.. Diane Sue did you ever order these??? I know you were thinking about it??

I cannot wait for Cathe to put out a new kickboxing dvd!!

Dallas you are so lucky that your mil will come over and do that for you!!

Susan are you trying to kill me??? Ha ha. I see tomorrow I have High step advanced Me ab, and bootcamp abs X2.......

Marietta here is the rotation I am going to do...Its by A-jock

klfb2, and thanks for your kind words!

I think it's a full rotation you're after rather than mish-moshes of strength DVDs. If it's real mass-building you're after (and it's mass coupled with reduced fat stores that creates the "super toned up" look), here's my suggested schedule:

Week 1:

Slow And Heavy; one complete strength workout on non-consecutive days, getting in at least 4 hour-long cardio sessions in addition to that; at least one complete rest day and at least 4 total ab sessions (your choice for additional abs)

Week 2:

Gym Styles Series; one complete strength workout on non-consecutive days, getting in at least 4 hour long cardio sessions in addition to that; at least one complete rest day and at least 4 total ab sessions

Week 3:

Muscle Max, Push-Pull and Supersets workouts performed as originally produced on non-consecutive days, getting in at least 4 hour long cardio sessions in addition to that; rest day and abs as noted above

Week 4:

Pure Strength Series; one complete strength wokout on non-consecutive days, getting in at least 4 hour long cardio sessions in addition to that; rest day and abs as noted above

Week 5:

Pyramid Upper Body and Pyramid Lower Body on non-consecutive days, cardio as noted previously; rest day and abs as noted above

Week 6:

Circuit Max
HSTA
Hard Core Extreme circuit workout
Terminator's Gauntlet or Viper (your choice)
Boot Camp as produced

Two rest days; at least 4 ab sessions (Boot Camp included)

What I've tried to do is go hard on the split-set, true strength and mass workouts and then balancing with endurance-oriented workouts like MM, PP/SS etc., and then even more endurancey with a week of circuit-style workouts to give the muscles a real chance to breathe and build. Split-set training offers the most benefits when your goal is absolute strength and mass. Make sure to keep your cardio varied (in terms of type and impact) AND intense.

Check how you feel after week 6; you may be ready for an ultra-light week or indeed a week off. If you're rarin' to go again, start all over again with S/H week.

HTH - let me know what you think.

A-Jock
I forgot about Muscle Endurance and the Cross Train Express (CTX) Leaner Legs and Upper Body Split on DVD. These would be good ones for Week 3 when focusing on total-body workouts rather than split set training.

WHAT WAS I THINKING?!

Doesn't this look GREAT!! I am looking forward to doing this!!

Christine you are so right!! Form is everything with the TLTs!!

Charlotte I have the day to, and have done not a whole lot so far.

Terri is your dad are settled at home?? How are you doing??? I know your plate has been overflowing!! Sending you a big ((HUG))

Take care,
~Nicole

Susan - since this is 40 days for me, I'm not taking any supplements other than my standard vitamin and calcium pill. Depending on what happens after Lent, I'll decide where I'm going after that. Probably vegetarian 90% of the time. For me it's more health than anything else. I think Americans simply eat WAY too much meat.

Nicole - I did FYC yesterday and BBBB today. The ole buns are on FIRE! I had L&G scheduled for tomorrow, but I think I'll hold off for the moment - but I'll see how I feel in the AM.

Oh - I had a wee trauma this morning when the battery on my HRM chest strap died. I spent 15 minutes getting it to work, to no avail. Felt weird doing a workout without it. Maybe I'm too dependant on those numbers...

Good Afternoon
I wanted to get in some good cardio today so did I Max3 w/u and cardio, then P90X Plyometrics eliminating the w/u and the bonus work. Then I did Ab ripperX with my Jolies and a med ball. We still have workers here doing our flooring.

Lora, Even when I download the Cardio Coaches to my mp3 player I also use Media Player and download to a cd and play it through my DVD player. Then I don't need a headset.

Nicole, no I haven't ordered the Turbo Jams yet. I do intend to but with vacation and doing P90X I am just waiting. I am looking at the Cardio Party ones.

Dallas, good luck with the PT. I'm glad your treadmill workout went well.

Hi to everyone else,
Diane Sue

Diana Sue - that's quite an aerobic session you did!! You amaze me!
I had to buy a non-skip CD player for all of my jumping on the rebounder. It works well though. My old one was non-skip but didn't work right, as it was older. I wish I worked out during the daylight so I could walk/run with them, but I can't do that at 3:00 am around my neighborhood.

Hello Ladies,

I am late checking in but I feel I got a lot done. I ran for an hour and also did chest and tri's. Later I will do some ab work. I called my dad last night and this morning and so far so good. He is still kinda weak but feeling ok.

I am on the fence about cardio coach and Turbo jams. I have the abs from turbo jams and it is ok. I don't want anything to dancey!

Looks like everyone is working hard. Nicole the rotaion looks good that you are going to do.
Lora-We count on your reviews.
Marietta-What rotation are you doing or are you?
Diane Sue-How is DH? Has he been doing any workouts with you?
Christine-Care to share a sample menu day of what you eat?
Susan-I hope yhe little guy is not as fussy today.
Dallas-How are things? Another party?! :)
Sabrina-How is work?

Ok I am off to catch up on a ton of sruff from when I was bussy running to the hospital.

Terri

Terri - just keep in mind that I'm 5'10 and can eat a lot... LOL

B - protein shake w/ 1 c strawberries /5 cup blueberries (fruit varies) and 1 tbsp flax seed
S - Steel Cut Oats w/ 3/4 cup ff milk and a banana/apple or pear
l - usually something from Amy's Kitchen (organic, vegetarian, nothing processed, frozen meals - oh yeah and yummy). Today was the Santa Fe Bowl, and a salad w/ an olive oil/basamic vingrette dressing (1 tbsp)
s - Indian Samosa from Amy's Kitchen (I'm addicted to those!)
D - Veggie wraps (brown rice, mushroom, green onions, red peppers, kidney beans in a tortilla w/ salsa and ff yogurt) and a salad with the salsa and yogurt dressing.

I average between 1800-2100 calories a day. If I fall below 1800 I have days where I need to eat everything in sight. I'll sometimes have a glass of milk with dinner - depending on how much calcium I've had during the day and how many calories. Or if I'm low on protein, I'll toss in a second protein shake, but I don't like doing that. With the TLT's and doing one body part a day, I'm not as fanatical about my protein, although I do keep it around 100 grams a day.

And for me, this is weight loss - I've been averaging about a pound a week, which is fine with me.

Hey....

I went for a run at lunch with the guys today...it was funny, they opted for an easier run than what I wanted to do, but as it turns out, todays run ended up being harder. One of the guys failed to turn when should have and so we had to go further...I knew all along but kept my mouth shut...I'm just rotten aren't I? If they had done what I suggested in the first place...always looking for the easy way out.

I didn't get to do my back work...might do it tonight or just may not get it in.

My PC is acting weird...

Anyway...

Dallas - Hang in the with the PT...hopefully it will get better.

Nicole - I think I'll print off this rotation...looks great.

Christine - I'm addicted to my GPS...even when I'm just running, have to have it on. It is hard to do advanced step when you've been away. I always have to back off when I start to teach a new session..I have alot of the same students but it's like they forget or something...I have to build them back up. How's that Flax treating you??

Diane Sue - You did have an awesome workout...I was gonna order a cardio coach...PC's acting up. Will try again...

Terri - Glad Dad is good...I'm not doing rotation right now. Just kind of doing what I'm feeling. I'm still doing 1 body part/day right now. Glad you are able to get caught up...

Toasty - How's your heart...IMAX2 giving you heart attacks now??!!

Susan - How's the baby today? I hope not as fussy...I liked the emphasis you put on ALLLL DAAAAYY...lol.

I'm off to the grocery store and then home...no praise dance practice tonight.

Hey Christine, Thanks for the sample menu. You are 5 inches taller then me so I would for sure have to cut that down! I am not trying to lose but love new ideas on things to eat. I never eat red meat but I do have chicken and salmon or tuna. I am getting sick of chicken so thought maybe I would cut it out of my diet as well. I will see:)

Charlotte - This is the lead singer from Buck Cherry. He's wild, huh? I like the Chaos tattoo! I found out the new album comes out April 11th. There's sound samples on Amazon.com for their older CD. I think I'll listen to it tomorrow.

Did I freak everyone out with this picture??

Oh no - I just looked at my rotation and tomorrow's workout is Plyo Legs. My legs are already sore. I'll need to listen to Buck Cherry for this one!

Thought I would pop in and say "HI" to all my wonderful lady friends. I went shopping today and then went out with DH for lunch then I can home and went to work from 1-5. I had to get a few listings together for a possible client and I had to get them mailed. I am hoping for the best.

Lora-Looks like you had a great workout even though you slept in a little. We do want to hear your reviews. I have to know what to buy!

Charlotte and Christine-Great workouts for you ladies too.

Dallas-Do you have everything ready to go? How are the kids? Are they driving you nuts with the wait yet?

Susan-So good to see you!! Sorry your little one was fussy all day yesterday. They all seem to have those days. Take long deep breaths.

Nicole-I have not received my new turbo jams yet. I wish I would soon. Let us know if you survive that rotation of A-Jock's! Good luck!

Diane Sue-great workout for you too! How is DH?

Terri-How are you? Are you getting things caught up now that your dad is home? How is he doing? How is Ashley? Any more news?

Marietta-Good run with the guys!! lol Show them who's boss!

Ok I have to go watch CSI:NY. Have a great night!
