Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Tues June 27

Cathlete
Morning Fitness Maniacs -

This morning I was late getting started with my workout. I did 45 minutes of P90X Plyo X with my own music on.

My pain is radiating in the distribution from my cervical disc problems ...probably from doing all of those pushups yesterday. I'm going to have to modify with the pushups due to my injury.

I haven't had time to go back and read then entire thread (only skimmed it) from yesterday and I'm running a bit late for work this morning. I'll try to read it later.

Suz - I did see where you posted about having exercise induced asthma. I also have asthma and am on a couple inhalers and a nasal spray. I also discovered mine due to not being able to do aerobics without wheezing when I first got it. After they had me on the inhalers for a while, I was okay.....but I do have to use my rescue inhaler during some higher intensity aerobics at times. It's not really a problem though. Good luck with that.

Have great workouts everyone. I don't know if I'll be able to check in from work.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Yesterday I did not get my workout in except for abs in which I did alot of different moves and worked my abs hard...they are sore this morning cuz I worked them off the smith machine by hanging and raising knees up, over and over again. I had a dermatologist appt and had what I think was a *blemish* removed! LOL! Doctor said he thought it was some kind of cyst or blackhead, but really did not think it would turn out to be cancer, but would know for sure in about 1 week. My breast, where I had it removed, remained sore last night as if I got stung by a bee. Just had one stitch placed below the nipple so I am not sure if I can workout chest today, but will call and ask to make sure. I know I will be working legs today and I think I will do leaner legs minus ab work and the rest will be depending upon what doctor says.

Lora,

I did get the cd's you sent me. Thank you very much!!!!!! I will be sending you back something for them, k? I will take a listen to them today and let you know what I think of Tantric cuz I am not sure I have heard them before.

Morning Maniacs:

Today's workout was Lowmax, with barbell squats and lunges inbetween cycles. My total time was 1 hour (including stretch) so didn't get all the cycles in. This is a great leg workout and I enjoyed the sweat! I will be doing a short spin on my bike after work.

Charlotte, hoping the blemish is just that. Great ab work for you. Is your DH still working out? Have you gotten him to do any cardio yet? My DH is still working, but he's not big on cardio. We do hope to start jogging/walking while on our camping trip this weekend. We'll keep it low key and fun.

Lora, so was the workout today part of your new rotation? I'm loving this one I'm doing. I needed to get disciplined in my workouts, that's for sure. In the future, I'll be looking for a circuit rotation as I have a bunch of those kind that don't get used as much.

Hi to all that follow. We had lightning fires yesterday (right up to the town edge). Very scary. Hoping that's not in the cards today.

Jeanette

Netta,

Aren't your legs still fried from your bike ride? Probably not cuz your a MANIAC!!!!LOL! My DH worked out some yesterday before the hairdresser came by to do his hair. Yeah, he is so spoiled. I suppose I should start getting my nails done or something since he is getting such royal treatments. He just told me yesterday that he wants to get his abs as hard as mine. He already knows what he needs to do as I don't want to nag him any further..he just needs to do it!!!!! So to answer your question, still no imax or cardio or ab work he has done yet.

Hope all is well in your town today. We had fires up on the mountain not too long ago

Charlotte~~

This morning I did Slow & Heavy Legs & Shoulders. Got a great workout. Did the squats at 55 lbs. but probably should have gone heavier. I will next time. After the plie squats I did leg extensions using 30 lbs. and then hamstring curls with 20 lbs. Did feel either one that much. The hamstring curls with my bench were weird, I couldn't get a full contraction with the way the padded part of the bar is, it rolls down my calves and felt really weird. I hope I can figure out how to do them correctly.

Shoulder work went well, I got a great burn doing each exercise. I love those shoulder hinge things, man those burn.

I'm going to do abs this evening and maybe stretch or yoga.

Suz - never heard of exercise induced asthma, that sounds horrible. I'm so sorry you have this. I hope the doc's can get it under control.

Charlotte - hope your pain thing goes away. I'm glad it wasn't cancerous. Great ab workout, I need to do leg raises like that but I need a good piece of equipment to hold me up first!

Hi all you other maniacs! Have a great day!

Have a great workout everyone!

Debbie,

Your knees need to be behind the first set of padded rollers and then see if this helps. I know what you are talking about cuz I was doing them the same way for the first few times I got my bench. I can also raise the seated part up so my butt is raised in the air which helps to prevent my back from arching.

Charlotte~~

Charlotte,

I am surprised myself that my legs aren't toast still. I'll see how they are on my spin after work today. I also have a hill climb (kind of like a race) on Thursday after work. It will be tough as you are going as hard as you can sustain for about 7 miles I think it is. I'm hoping some other ladies show up for it. It will be a mass start (that's funny, probably be lucky if we get 10 riders) to the top, but they keep your time as you cross the line. It doesn't start until 5:45 p.m. so should start being shady in spots and hopefully, be cooler. Even though I'll most likely be last, there is a feeling of accomplishment for me to do these things. Do I have issues? Don't we all have issues? I have a great time though and really enjoy it so I guess its all good.

My DH also focuses on his abs. I need to look at the Bowflex book for more exercises than the standard crunch. I know your DH was getting some nice definition to his muscles. My DH has great muscle but needs to burn off the fat (cut back on the beer, in other words).

Must go to prison now.

Jeanette

Netta,

Just wanted to say, I wish I could be biking with you. I would go out today, but it is just going to be raining mostly so I will just have to settle for LL and then some.

Have a good day at work.

Charlotte~~

Charlotte - thanks a lot, I will keep that in mind. My back was killing me by the time I got done with those. Do you decline the bench part so you are bent down a bit? Or do you keep that part flat. I know it will be a lot of trial and error until I get use to it.

Good Morning Maniacs!!

This morning I did BodyMax. I did the step portion and the power circuits. Good workout....I need to work chest today so I'll do that at lunch along with some additional cardio.

I was up pretty late last night talking on the phone to my cousin who is going through some very hard times...she was in a bad way so I just listened.

Have great workouts everyone...I'll be back later!!

Hi there!

Last night I did MM, since I haven’t done that one in a while (no time for abs though).

Today I did Pilates Triple Threat. It was ok. It starts off like a TLP cardio (side steps will little hops and lunges with a weighted ball) then some floor work. Very easy and long (just over an hour). It was all I had time for. I hope to do *something* else tonight.
I should know better. If it's not Cathe then forget about it.;)

Marietta, I think that really shows your character when someone who is going through a difficult time, they know they can talk to you.

Debbie, my dh used to be a bodybuilder; so I know the dedication it takes. When we first met, he was training for his first professional show....I gained about 13 pounds training with him. He placed third.

Charlotte, you may not want to work chest today. Your muscles could bust through that stitch. Hahaha (not funny).

Lora, I hope your pain subsides today.

Nicole, I might look into that vacuum you got. I keep running over the stupid cord with mine, I think it’s going to die on me soon. You probably wouldn’t be so “into” baseball if your kids weren’t playing. It is fun to watch kids play.

Terri, hang in there. ((((HUGS))))

Be back later!
Susan

Hi everyone,
I will do the check in and try and get back later. I have an dentist appointment to get my crown in and a filling then I have an preop appointment with my laser eye surgeon after that. I am having my eye surgury on the 11th. This morning I started with Seasun's Straight up Step, it was fun. I stumbled all over the place and tried to take the step with me but still found it fun. I never previewed it or anything. I still managed to work up a sweat anyway, then I did Interval Max intervals 1-6, Slow & Heavy Chest and Back(no w/up) followed by Gym Style Shoulders and Slow & Heavy Side Lying External rotations from the Shoulder portion and stretch.

Hi to everyone,

Good morning!

Well this morning I rode with my girlfriends, only 20 miles about an hour and 20 minutes - first day on my inhaler. I didn't really notice a difference until about an hour into my ride. Not sure if this is how it's supposed to work or not? I'll give it some time. As much as I don't want to have asthma, I do want an answer. I totally passed some guy this morning after my friends and I split and went our own ways home! I NEVER pass anyone. I don't care if this is his first time ever on a road bike (I don't know as we only said hi). :)

Do any of you get eye migraines? They are just like the aura you see before you get a real migraine. I don't get the aura before a migraine but I do get it at other times - maybe 5 times a year is all. It doesn't hurt at all, lasts about 20 minutes and distorts your vision then totally goes away. It's the weirdest thing. I didn't realize it was the same thing that people see before migraines until I looked it up. An eye doctor years ago in my early 20's told me what they were. Anyway it was cool to see it on the internet because it looks exactly like what I see. So cool! I had one this morning on the way to work. Crazy.

Charlotte - my upper BACK muscles have doms today! I didn't even work back. I worked triceps. I bet it was from the dips I did with a barbell on my lap and my feet up high. Ya think?

It's so beautiful here - no wind! Hooray!!!

I hope you all have wonderful workouts!

Susan C.M. - Cool about your dh placing 3rd! Wow! How's come you gained 13 pounds? Was it stressful for you?

Diane Sue - I ordered Season's SUS and can't wait to try it. I hope the chore isn't too hard.

Suz - I use to get eye migraines all the time, haven't for a long time though. They are the weirdest thing. I'm actually suprised I don't get them more often, I have a lot of problems with my eyes.

Debbie,
I was going through a divorce when I met my husband. I was very, very thin (like 85 pounds) due to not eating because of the stress. I started lifting REAL heavy for me and got up to 98 pounds. I now weigh about 95 pounds consistently.

Hi Ladies - my boss finally had an appt (dental) so I came back from lunch a few minutes early so I could get on here. Charles & I both feel like "whipping posts" the last couple of days ....it has been rough here. I'm trying to maintain positive, but I am particularly "mental" today and this morning, everything I touched, fell, spilled, etc and I'm not quite right. Don't know if this is hormonal or what.

I just wanted to say WOW....can't believe how sore I am from Core Synergestics. I didn't realize that is such a good workout and my body must have needed a change. I really need to lose these few pounds I've been trying to lose. I'm changing a few things up on my diet and I need to research a few things to see how many calories are in them before I make any more changes.

Susan - Pilates Triple Threat? Who is that by and where did you get it? That's not Kimberly Spreen is it? Thanks for the well wishes with my pain, but I think it will be a while before it subsides, as I exacerbated it from doing too many pushups. I'll try to get some of the spasms out tonight when I lay on my Yamuna balls, but it's very deep pain...hard to work it out of there.

Diana Sue - Straight Up Step! YAY. Yes, I stumbled at first, but persistence will pay off...cuz it's so much fun when you learn it. I think it's my favorite step DVD! It makes me happy.

Suz - Is your inhaler you do before your ride, albuterol (generic name - brand name Proventil)? If so, that is a rescue inhaler and it usually takes about 1/2-1 hour to open your bronchial passages up, so doctor's usually recommend using it about 1/2-1 hour before exercise, if it is indeed a rescue inhaler.

Netta - Yes, P90X Plyo X is from Power 90 X by Beachbody. This is the new rotation I started. I have altered it a bit. I'm doing the Lean Program but adding a few harder things in from the Classic routine. We'll see how long I last on it. I've already decided I need more variety with aerobics, so I'll be subbing an Imax here and there and probably Seasun's step ...cuz I can't live without it.

Toasty - Yes, do let me know how you enjoy Tantric. I'm thinking of burning you the other Theory of a Deadman CD and possibly some ShineDown (see my email regarding the latter). I hope you enjoy the CDs. They are some of my favorites.

Well....gotta get back to work.

Lora - yes, the one I use before I ride is albuterol. That's good to know. She may have told me to do that but she told me so much that I wouldn't be surprised if I missed it. So that would explain why I felt so good at that hour point in my ride. I also thought I felt better after my ride than normal. But then I didn't know if it was all in my head. You have given me new hope that maybe this will work. Do you get any side effects (headaches)? I have one but not a bad one and certainly not a migraine. Wow - I'm becoming quite the little whiner. I better stop! :)

Pretty soon I'm gonna end up having to get Seasun's Straight Up Step with all the talk around here about it! I watched a video clip of it the other day and it does look fun.

Hello Again...

Just poppin in to see what everyone is up to.

That Season's Step does sound like it's pretty good...may have to check that one out myself.

Suz - that is promising about the inhaler....hope it's not the cause of your headache though.

Susan - How's your ds doing with his grandparents?

I've gotta go...I may be back.
