Hardcore Fitness Maniac Hotties for 3/17

Did STS Meso 3, Disc 37, Squat Rack Legs. I went fairly light due to this being my first leg workout in way over 2 weeks. I'm almost sure I'll be paralyzed tomorrow! This is how it went:

Warmup:
Squats - 65#- 2 sets/12 reps

Workout:
Squats - 85# - 4 sets/8 reps

Elevated Deadlifts - 75# - 4 sets/8 reps

Leg Press Station - 155# - 4 sets/8 reps
***This was suppose to be Front Squats but I hate that exercise.

Static Lunges - 70# - 4 sets/8 reps

I also added in some calf work:

Barbell Calf Raises - 90# - Toes forward, in and out for 15 reps each position; rested 1 minute and did toes forward, in and out for 12 reps each position; rested 1 minute and did toes forward, in and out for 10 reps each position. Calves are FRIED! Legs are too, I'll be feeling this later.

Debbie-that's some pretty impressive weight for a 2 week break :D

Yesterday I did weights and cardio. For cardio, I chose Tracey's Walking Stronger-22 min. total workout time was 44 min and I burned 631 calories

Weights were 5x5

band assisted chin ups
lumberjack squats-60#
one arm standing shoulder press-20's
one leg deadlift-40#
trx "ab wheel"

Today is cardio and I don't know what I want to do yet. I really like this rotation so far, it changes often enough for my attention span

Theresa - Wow, nice workout girl!!! I love doing 5 reps in any workout, makes me feel strong!

Where is everyone? I think we need to post a "WANTED: HARDCORE POSTERS" to join us. Seems this list is dwindling. :(

Hi,

Not sure if you were serious Debbie, but I've been following this check-in for quite awhile now (part of how I start my morning). A lot of days, you guys really help get me going and have given me a bunch of great ideas to help me in my training. You're a great group and I've thought about popping in to ask if I could join several times. Um, I guess I'm doing that now. I've been working out seriously since my late teens (I'm 43 now). I'm a single mom and I work from home, so the connection would be nice for me. I mostly lurk on the forums. This would be a big step, if it's ok with everyone.

Anyway, have a great afternoon,

Lori

Welcome Lori! New faces are always welcome. Especially as Debbie says our members seem to be dwindling!

Today was another rest day for me. I was too tired to get up after 2 hours of skating last night. I have been out walking with DD again today.

Also tonight we are starting a Biggest Loser Challenge at work and I am feeling all fired up and ready to attack things tomorrow. Gonna check out those Band circuits in M&F hers and probably do some of Cathe's HIIT. And if I feel good at the end of the week I may try and restart Insanity next week.

Debbie - Nice numbers!

Theresa - ITA w/ Debbie , I love 5 rep workouts!

Debbie and Linda-thanks :D 5 reps sure helps when it's pull ups :p and ITA about the group......I have been wondering what's going on for awhile.

Lori-WELCOME......we would love to have you join in. I joined the same way a few months ago, and everyone has been very supportive :D

Lori - We would LOVE for you to join! Please do!! And yes, I was serious!

Linda - Just take it easy, ok??? If you don't feel up to doing insanity on Friday, don't. I'm just so worried that your hand will never heal. How is it feeling now?

I wouldn't restart Insanity until Monday and again only if I feel up to it. ;) Even though the hand is still sore, the doctor did say it is improving (regardless of me misbehaving:p). He always knew it was going to take 6-7 weeks in the brace for it to completely heal, but for whatever reason he didn't share that with me at the first visit. I'll be good I promise, cause I can't wait for this brace to be off and I can pump some iron - I so, so , so miss it!:(

My workout was STS disc 38 legs doing calves duing the rests. 66 minutes and 304 calories burned. I then did Taebo Fat Blasting Cardio wearing my 1# gloves and using my new tubing. Workout was 45 minutes and I burned 357 calories Max Hr was 155. I finished off with Cathe's Extended Stretch and Yoga Shatki lunge and supine segments 26 minutes 67 calories. I had a hard time getting the HR up today.Total calories burned was 718. I think my HR monitor strap was loose. It kept sliding down. I am going to get out the machine and sew it so it doesn't loosen on me anymore. It is very annoying having to mess with something like that. I enjoyed the Taebo workout. It is a nice way to burn some calories without all of the impact. I upped the lower body weights again. Feel like I must not be going heavy enough. My HR doesn't spike like Cathe says it does when she is doing these. The only place I saw a significant rise was front squats squats which I did with 2# gloves, a 65# barbell and 20# vest on for a total of 89#. I hate front squats. I took
STS weights:
Squats Bowflex: w/up 200#1x10, 220# 1x10, 4x7 290# resistance
Deadlifts Barbell: 4x7 104#
Front Squat with weights above 89# 4x7 reps
Static Lunge: 20# vest, 2# weighted gloves and 65# barbell for 87# 4x7 reps
I did 3 sets of 25 calf raises with 25# dumbbells an 5 sets of 20 reps seated on the Bowflex at 310# between some of the weight work. This still gave me time for stretching.

Debbie, that is funny I just read your post after posting mine. I hate those front squats too. I have noticed that posters were dwindling. This weekend I didn't see anyone here so didn't bother. Maybe I should have posted anyway. I checked this morning and no one had started so I just went and worked out. Guess I should have done it then

Lori, welcome to the check in. It will be nice having someone else here to share their workouts:D

Theresa, I contemplated doing the Walking Stronger leg premix but then ended up doing the Taebo one. I got those bands and was really itching to try it out. Still got a lot of leg and core work in with the Taebo dvd. Nice workout. I am glad that you are enjoying your rotation:)

Linda, that is good that you are healing. Just be careful because you really do want to do those weights;) I know how you feel though. I have been there.

Diane Sue - LOL! Alot of people did STS squat rack workouts today. I'm on another checkin and someone else did the workout too. Weird because ever since STS came out I don't remember reading much of the squat rack workouts.

Debbie, when I first got STS the squat rack was the thing I wanted to do. I get more results in the legs with heavy weight work. Plyo legs is fun and can lean them out but it doesn't do much for me when I want to add some muscle.

DianeSue - I remember when I was doing STS, Cathe making that same statement about the upper body workout and I was like huh? My heart rate isn't up?

Theresa & DianeSue
- What are your opinions on Walking Stronger? I have Walking Strong.

Linda-It's not bad. I did the cardio only premix and it really helped the time go by. there is nothing worse than just walking on the treadmill, even w/ music I get bored fast.

Theresa

Linda, I like Walking Stronger. I have done the lower premix and the whole thing so far. When I did the whole thing I really liked the circuit she put on the end where you did a circuit of soldier walks, skipping, duck walks, on the incline. There is walking backwards to the side and lunges with a leg extension on an incline. She also goes a little faster on this one up to 5 mph. Upper body was good to. There is some additional floorwork for the legs on this and push ups. Next time I will add ankle weights on the floorwork. Tracey wears wrist weights throughout and picks up light dumbbells for the upper body stuff. I wore 1# weighted gloves and used 3# dumbbells. Saturday when I did the entire workout I took note of the calorie burn and time at the end of the treadmill portion and it was 61 minutes and I burned 488 calories. Which wasn't too bad for me. Max HR was 157.

Edited to add that I put my Sony Reader on my treadmill rack and read part of the time I am on there otherwise I would probably get pretty bored with any treadmill workout. Tracey does switch it up quite a bit so it is more like another workout and not so boring.

Hi Everyone - I've been stressed. My DH's place of employment filed straight Chapter 7 Bankruptcy which means liquidation. He doesn't have a job right now. I'm off today. I slept in and then I did Amy Bento's Kettlebell Dynamics. I skipped a couple of the cardio segments to shorten it. I used my 20-25 & 30 lb KB'...s and avoided some of the overhead holds. Workout was 75" and I burned 510 calories. I also did Yoga Journal Yoga for Mental Clarity. Still need lots more stretching. Why am I always soooo tight??

Welcome Lori. It's always fun to have new fitness friendsl

Thank you for such a warm welcome, everyone! It ended up being a long day and was really nice to come home to. Since I'm checking in kind of late, I'll keep this on the short side. I did Circuit Blast today. Fun. My legs were pretty "heavy," though. I'm finishing the last three weeks of an Undulating Rotation with STS (another one who did squat rack legs yesterday). I also added 5 Tabata rounds (8 intervals with 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest) on after Circuit Blast. I used to do a lot of interval training in my twenties, though not so precisely structured time-wise.

Anyway, thanks again for your receptiveness. Have a great evening.

Lori

Hi everyone, and welcome Lori!
I think I am the late exerciser of the group, lol. Actually, since I went to yoga class today, my workout was done by six, but I'm just now posting. Traffic was bad coming home, much to my dismay.

Lora, I hope your DH will be able to find new work. =(
