Hardcore Fitness Maniac Hotties for 12/7

I feel 100% better today so I did Bryan Kest's Yoga - Energize. Some of the moves I had to do slowly and I had to stop some of them. Still a little discomfort and I was worried to pull my back out again. So I took it easy. I really like this yoga workout and I feel great right now!

Slept a little later this morning. The rest of the week I will have to get up much earlier. Especially if the weather gets bad. I am sitting here looking at a workout plan using the 3 Insanity workouts. I think I want to do it like this:
Mon. Insanity upper and abs
Tues lower body kettlebell goddess like I did Saturday along with a couple of rounds of the metabolic circuit I did from Rachel Cosgroves book with the squats & box jumps etc(more focused on lower)
Wed Insanity Sports Drills
Thurs. cardio
Fri Upper Insanity and abs
Saturday lower same as Tues
Sun rest
I need to get to the store and pick up some things before the icey weather hits tomorrow.

Debbie, that is great that you are back to normal again:D

Debbie-I'm sure it feels good to be active again. Nice work

Diane Sue-I think your rotation looks great. Icy weather, that sounds like fun? I'm in Tulsa and they talked about stuff but I can't remember....I think I need to check the weather :D

Yesterday was cardio and I did stepboxing. We went over to my parents house to watch football and I don't think I did too bad with eats. I could have done much better but had a little nibbling from everything and brought my own meal with me.

Debbie - Glad to hear your back is feeling better!

DianeSue
- Icy weather doesn't sound like fun at all.

Theresa
- I've done that broomstick stretch the past two days. Don't know if there has been any improvement, but my shoulders always feel good right after I do it.:D

My cold is still making me not feel so great and still having pain in the shoulder. But did Brian Kest Energize this morning anyway. Again way to many up/down dogs for me (are all yoga practices like that?) The down dog really worry me with my shoulder right now.

I think up/down dog is the staple of any yoga practice. Quite frankly, I don't see the big deal about these poses. The very first down dog that is on this workout is FOREVER! I always come out of it early. I hate holding that pose for so long. I prefer the standing poses and floor work.

I was talking to my massage therapist about my dislike for yoga and especially down dog and he said down dog is actually a relatively new pose to yoga. So maybe I need to find an old yoga dvd?:p:p One thing for sure about yoga is I have learned just how inflexible I really am.:(:(:(:(

Really? I wonder how new? I know Bryan Kests DVD's are quite dated. I know the ones I have from Karen Voight don't have a lot of down dogs in it, but it still has some. I do think that Yoga X and Bryan Kest exaggerate this pose too much. I'm sure they can replace it with something else if they just try hard enough. :D

Morning Maniacs -

This morning I did Jari Love's Get Extremely Ripped Workout one. I added on a set of lats and biceps. I don't think I went heavy enough, as I followed Jari's weights. I don't care though, as my injury is still flaring...especially with the weather taking a deep dip down into the 20's for the first time. I only did part of the Abs (due to my side hurting from my fall injury flaring). Workout was about 1 hour and I burned 512 calories (which surprised me, as my HR only elevated to about 130). I also did one segment off of Shiva Rea's new yoga DVD, Daily Yoga. I liked it, but wished I could have done more....but I had some stuff to do before I go into work at 2...so I had to stop.

Deb & Linda - I believe Down/Dog - Up/Dog - otherwise called Sun Salutations are used as a means to warm you up and get ready for the stretchy poses ahead. Can't you feel yourself getting warm from doing them? I agree that some DVDs go overboard - thus one of the reasons I really like Shiva Rea's Yoga Matrixes where you choose your own workout.....cuz I can choose a segment that only has about 5 minutes or so of Sun Sal's.

Re: that Broomstick stretch -- I did that once with a yoga strap following a yoga DVD and it was the WORSE thing I've ever done. Made my cervical injury so flared up that it took months to heal. I also can't do behind the shoulder lat pull downs. That movement kills me.

Deb - what exactly is wrong with your back that it "goes out"? What have you been diagnosed with? I'm just curious.

Diane Sue - that looks like a good rotation, although I'm not familiar with Rachel's workouts yet....have yet to look at my book, but someone over at VF posted that the workouts take over an hour to complete.....which is not a good thing in my book. Are you liking Insanity so far? I'm glad you liked the upper body one. I've yet to try it. One of the reason's I've not tried all of my Rev Abs is cuz 2 of the workouts are interval workouts but they alternate lower body with cardio....and I hate lower body workouts....so I've not been inspired to do them. I'm a leg wimp.

Have great workouts everyone.

Hi Lora! I'm not sure the term "goes out" is appropriate with what happened to me last week. I pulled a muscle. But I have had it where my hip gets dislocated and causes sciatica, and at one point last week if I would have moved wrong, that would have happened. But I am so intune with my body that I know exactly what to do and what not to do when it comes to back pain. When I really did a number on my back quite a few years ago I was never diagnosed with anything. Even though I couldn't sit, stand or sleep, had a CAT scan and x-rays, they never could find anything wrong with me. It wasn't until I hung on something outside that my hip realigned and I realized it was dislocated. Hasn't happened since but I know when I experience what I did last week that it wouldn't take much for it to dislocate itself again.

I started with 10 minute solution 5 day abs kickbox to get a little more w/up 74 calories Max HR 149, I then did Insanity Upper body weights 48 minutes, 410 calories, 167 Max HR 135 Avg Hr, 30% fat, then I went on and did Insane Abs 34 minutes 274 calories, Max Hr 168, Avg Hr 133, Total calories burned was 758, workout was 1 hr 32 minutes, 32 minutes in my zone.

Deb - okay....I do remember you saying that you hung on a pullup bar and it helped you. I've been trying that off and on ever since you said that, but it has yet to help me!! LOL. Do you believe in chiropractors? Have you ever been to one? My DH went for his sciatica which was so severe after our car accident that he couldn't even straighten up or bend down and the chiropractor helped his sciatic pain. I don't know if a Chiro could help me. I don't even know if they'll adjust you when you have bulging discs. By the way, glad you don't live close.....cuz you said you'd smack me. I'm still debating the workout versus rest day thing.....cuz if I do get more than 6 hours of sleep a couple nights in a row, I can't sleep without taking a sleeping aide....so not sure what I'll do for now. I know I have to start taking one rest day a week, but the weeks I'm talking about are gonna make me take 3 rest days in one week.

I'm not a big fan of chiro's. Sometimes I think my back is the way it is because I went to one when I hurt myself in the late 80's. Stupid guy strapped me to a table that pulled me apart. It hurt so bad and then I was sore for days. I did that once a week for 6 months and the pain never went away, in fact, I think it got worse. I quit going and will never go to another one again.

Not sure what you can do for bulging discs. You should get the book by Robin McKenzie, this has helped me a lot and it talks about exercises you can do with slipped discs. In fact, I did the exercises last week and I swear this is one reason I can heal so fast now:

I am getting ready to go get that shopping done. Checked the weather and it looks a little better "I think". Highs above freezing, but now rain and some lows around 18. You never know what to expect around here.

Lora, I used the last Metabolic workout # 4 in Rachel Cosgrove's book and just did two rounds at 45-60 seconds each exercise. This took me 13 minutes. So, adding that onto the Kettlebell Goddess lower body workout 28 (minutes) and the extra added step ups with the kettlebells and swings I did (23 minutes) My workout was over an hour. But it would really depend on how many rounds you did of the metabolic circuit and if you just did that and added w/up.

Theresa, I forget that you live in Tulsa. So have you been to the HardRock Casino there? I was just wondering. We have thought about checking it out for something to do sometime.

Linda, sorry about the cold. My grandson that stayed the night this weekend went in to get more bloodwork done since his platelets were off and he now has strep throat. He was so pale after Sunday School yesterday so I bought him home and gave him tylenol. He had collected a plate of pigs in blankets from the buffet at church to share with me and his sister. I sure hope I don't pick up anything:confused: I hope those stretches work for you. That is interesting about the down dogs. They seem to be on every yoga dvd I have and many non yoga dvds.

Debbie, Lora, I was reading up on treatments for my neck and shoulder pain I was having and read that if the chiropractor isn't good you could end up with a permanent injury.

Hi Diane Sue! What state do you live in? For some reason I thought you lived down south. It's cold here, too. Only in the lower 30's today.

I've heard the same thing about Chiro's. There are good chiro's and bad chiro's. And when you end up with a bad one you never want to go back. That's where I'm at right now.

Diane Sue-the Hardrock Casino is alright...it's no Vegas but it has all the slots and card games you would want to play. It is VERY smoky though, but that may be b/c it really bothers me now.

Debbie, I live in Oklahoma. Close to Oklahoma City. It was 33 when I went out to the City to get my shopping done today.

Theresa, I hear you on the smoke. It makes me cough and my eyes water. I don't any of the casinos are up to what the Vegas ones are. I believe the one at Remington Park has non smoking areas. But it still hangs in the air. Better upstairs watching the horse races:) We really are not gamblers though.
