Hardcore check in for February 2017

Cathlete
I just realized we do not have a February thread started. I think I may do PHA Strong and Sweaty today.

Debbie, nice work on starting 4 day split this week. I don't think that I love push ups so much myself.

Today's workout was Strong and Sweaty PHA with the bonus abs mix, 65 minutes, 329 calories. It took me a bit longer because I bounced a few minutes on the rebounder to warm up and I had to stop and adjust weights a few times. This is my first time through the entire workout. Now I know the format I can make decisions on using the pre-mixes better. I did mostly Cathe's weights except for pull overs and overhead presses, also I did on my knees for most of the push up segment. I upped the weights to 15's on the step ups. I followed this with Kelly Coffey Strength and Stamina bonus step, 22 minutes, 160 calories and finished off with Suzanne Bowen Stretch upper body, 12 minutes, 18 calories. Total time was 99 minutes, 501 calories. Tomorrow I will do cardio and maybe some sort of stretch/flexibility work. I have my routine dentist appointment late morning.

Roselyn, I hope your appointment for your hand goes well.

Today I did Cardio Coach 6 with Candace and had a great workout. Actually, I had a puke status workout. This one was tough today, I did it a bit differently and it really ramped up the intensity.

Workout was 54 minutes, I burned 380 calories (TM said 507!!!), ran 3.47 miles and went 7245 steps.

I feel like I might need a rest week here soon. Feeling a bit burned out.

Diane Sue - I can't remember if I did all of PHA or just parts of it. I like the new series, I'm glad I got it.

Waves to Jolie & Roselyn!!!

Have great workouts girls!

Sunday I did Cardio on the treadmill. 40 minute walk uphill, 2.3 miles. I also did Abs Core #1 from Xtrain. I burned 462 calories.

Monday no workout, my oldest son is so extremely sick with the flu for 4 days I am afraid to workout, I do not want to get this sickness!

Today, Tuesday, I am going to workout just not sure what I am doing yet. I have to take my son to the doctor at 10am so it will have to be a short workout, probably chest. He is now on day 3 of missing school, I hope he doesn't get too far behind. I will check back in later with my workout.

Have a nice day.

Diane Sue and Debbie, nice workouts yesterday.

One of my kitties has been in the hospital since Saturday. He has been blocked and can't pee right. They unblocked him Saturday and I was supposed to be able to take him home today but they told me he was blocked back up this morning. :(

Please say a prayer for him. I can't stand thinking about him being in such distress. He's my baby.

This morning I did Party Rockin Step 2, 53 minutes, 385 calories. I wanted a cardio without any weights in it today. That is all that I had time for before my dental check up appointment. I really wanted to do some stretching and yoga. I swear I posted this already but maybe I forgot to post. I did get sidetracked when I was on here awhile ago. Maybe I posted on last months check in as I remember Debbie mentioning 4 day split.

Debbie, I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I will send some prayers out for him. I remember you adding a new one to your household at one time that was not quite fitting in? Is this that one? It is hard to watch a pet suffering.

Jolie, I am sorry to hear that your son is still sick with the flu. So, did he get to go with his date to the dance? Take care of yourself and do not get rundown. The flu can really take a toll on you.

Debbie, I will pray for your kitty.

Today I did Muscle Meltdown Chest, minus the pushups and Pyramid Upper Triceps.

Giant Set

Chest Press- 20# x 12, x 12, x 12, x 12

Chest Flies- 20# x 12, x 12, 15# x 12, x 12

Incline Press- 20# x 12, x 12, x 12, x 12

Incline Flies- 20# x 12, x 12, 15# x 12, x 12

2 Arm Kickbacks- 5# x 12, 8# x 10, 10# x 8, 8# x 10, 5# x 12

Lying Ext.- 8# x 10, 10# x 10, 12# x 8, 10# x 10, 8# x 12

I could have gone heavier on the triceps exercises.

I took my son to the doctors and he has a severe case of the flu. Day 5 of high fever, upset stomach, sore throat, congestion, cough, and mucus. They gave him some medicine to help with some of his symptoms but there isn't much we can do except let him sleep. He has lost 10 pounds.

I hope you all have a nice day.

Jolie, that is a bad flu. I hope his fever breaks soon and he starts feeling better. 10 pounds is a lot to lose. Hopefully the medicine helps some. Once you have had the flu awhile it pretty much has to run it's course.
Nice workout today. Stay well.

Hi to Roselyn, I hope you are mending.

Also walked on my treadmill for 1 mile.

Jolie - Did your son get to go to his dance? I sure hope he feels better soon, I hear the flu this year is horrible.

Diane Sue - Nice workout yesterday. So do you feel your upper body is getting better? I hope you can start lifting for chest soon.

Roselyn - How is your hand doing?

Today I did Strong and Sweaty Boot Camp mish mosh Extreme 2, 6 rnds + 2,3,&5. 62 minutes, 310 calories. I then did 21 Day Fix Extreme Yoga, 32 minutes, 71 calories. Total time 94 minutes, calories burned 481. Of course there was a few modifications here and lighter weights for some of the upper body moves on Boot Camp. I modified a bit on the yoga as well. I hurt my neck today doing the yoga. It probably would have been laughable if it didn't hurt so much. I was in the dancer pose in the yoga leaned over balancing and somehow when I was getting ready to come back up to standing I lost my balance and fell on my head. It hurt up my neck, shoulder and upper back. I did some yoga tune up for neck and shoulders and took some Excedrin which I hate taking. I felt like my neck was crackling and when I turn my head I feel it, so I know this is not going to be good for awhile. I do not know how I managed to lose my balance like that on such a simple move.

Debbie, my upper body is getting a bit stronger. I am feeling the workouts though. I have did a bit of chest but picked up very light weights. I did some of the push ups today on my knees but the second round of those today I did mountain climbers with my hands on the step. The pullover to flies I did with 5's. I am not doing much for awhile. on the chest other than very light and just a little. I always kind of liked the hanging curls because it was something different. The move in that series I always found difficult is the lower body one where you pick the weights up off the floor and come to the lunge. I would try to go heavy and it was hard to get off the floor. It would get better after I did the series a few times.

I was going to run today but woke up dizzy and my head was pretty blocked up. I decided to just walk on my treadmill which was cool because then I can read my book and I'm reading a good one - "Sliver Bay" by Jojo Moyes - excellent book.

Workout was 57 minutes, walked almost 3 miles, burned 304 calories and went 6830 steps. Not bad, worked up a good sweat. Was on a 3% incline for most of it.

I thought I updated you all on my cat but I'm not sure what happened as I don't see it out here. He is still at the vets and I'm telling you all, I am not happy with those people. I have no idea what they are doing. He had blockage in his bladder which is as the doctor said "common among male cats." Should have been as simple as releasing the bladder and then cleansing him out, which they did and are still doing - for 5 day now. WTF??? She said he has mucus in his urine and usually that clears up in two days but it hasn't with him. She said they were testing the mucus and its bacterial, but now they have to see what kind. I don't get it, why isn't he on antibiotics? Why are they doing this? I told her yesterday I want to take him home on Friday and she said she thought I would be able to. I'm about ready to take him to a different vet and I will never go there again. I am beyond pissed about this.

So that's the scoop. I wish I knew a vet, I'd ask them if this is normal. It seems to me they are trying to get more money out of me or something.

Diane Sue - This cat is my first cat, Spaz. The one you are asking about is Fuzz, and he is doing great here. He's a good little kitty and fits in well with us now. I'm glad you are able to work your upper body more, that is great!!!

Hope you all have great workouts.

Debbie, that does seem wrong with how they are taking care of Spaz. I remember you talking about him before. I had a vet that I used once, and now look back and see he was not good at all. Plus I was charged 100 dollars more for my one dog being spayed by the staff than what he told me it would cost for my great dane. Then he said he couldn't do large dogs and sent me to someone else who was way more reasonable which is what got me to figuring out that something was wrong. Our Dane had skin issues and he could never seem to identify what it was. He would say staph then treat and the something else. She had an issue with her legs and he had to coffer with other vets. He had to do the same with another Dane we had that became lame at 6 months. We spent 1500 dollars on her care while he was trying to figure it out and told me finally that she wouldn't live past a year. We had to put her down. We loved that dog so much. The second one was from the same breeder. Fortunately she got well.
We found a good vet which is a bit of a drive to a border city and I have used this one for years. My favorite one though was in the City we lived 100 miles away from here for 2 years. I have tried several close to us in the past and just stick with the one. You might do well to find another vet.

Yesterday I did not workout, a nightmare day with my son. Six days of a high temp., vomiting, coughing, congestion, headache and upset stomach. I made the doctor give him an IV Drip and put him on antibiotics. Today, he is a totally different kid. No temp and eating and drinking. What is wrong with some doctors, he almost had to go to the hospital!

I am not doing cardio right now because I am so scared of getting the flu. Today I did shoulders and had an awesome workout. I took parts of my favorite workouts and put them together for one super duper workout! I finished with leg extensions.

Barbell Overhead Press, 35# x, 12, x 10, x 10
Superset
DB Upright Rows, 15# x 12, x 12, x 10

Finisher, Scarecrows, 5# DB x 20

Superset
Front raise DB, 15# x 10, x 10, x 10

12# x 12, x 10, x 8
2 arm lateral raise

8# x 15 BOS

Rear Flies
12# x 12, x 11, x 10
10# x 12 BOS
8# x 15 BoS

Leg ext. 50# x 20, x 16, x 14, x 13, x 12, x 10

This was a great workout. I burned 296 Calories.

Debbie, I hope you feel better and I am sorry to hear about your kitty. Don't mess with our animals people!!! You had a nice walk today. I cant wait to start again, I just don't want to push it and then be sick for a week.

Diane Sue, you are doing some really great workouts lately. I am proud of you! Coming out of surgery and doing what you have done, you should be proud of yourself!

Have a nice day.

Today I did X10 mix 38 low impact and step, 39 minutes, 233 calories. I then did Kelly Coffey's Athletic Step 36 minute, 298 calories. I finished off with Susan Chung Rapid Fire Results abs and stretch, 15 minutes, 55 calories. Total time was 94 minutes, 646 calories. I kept fighting with my Fit Bit because it kept syncing with MFP and doubling workouts. I finally think I got it fixed. I kind of like My Net Diary for my workouts because I can just put in a type of workout and add the calories or save a custom workout like I do with MFP. I have started using both of them at the same time because I like My Net Diary's features a bit better. It is also easier at time to just click on Copy recent meal and see all of my meals of late in a list. Then I click on the meal that has foods I want to use and it will get me a list of the foods and I can check off which ones I want to add to my current meal. The graphs are nice on it. I like the food pictures as well. I can put in weight calories without putting it as a cardio workout as well.

Deb, I used to spend a lot longer on the treadmill when I had one because I would read books. My Tread Climber states that you can put a book on it but I do not see how you would get it to stay. There is a pocket for the cell phone if you listen to audio stuff. I could probably put my husbands smaller tablet on it to read but my 12 inch Galaxy tablet has to be strapped on with a bungie so it doesn't bounce off onto the floor. I bought a surf desk but it takes a lot to attach since my husband would not want it on there. I can put my laptop on it and it has astrap to hold it down. It was so much easier with the tread mill book rack.

Jolie, I am glad that you spoke up for getting something done for your son. My husband had the flu once, got a little better and went to work and a few days later he caught some rare blood born pneumonia, probably from food eating out. He was quarantined in the hospital for 8 days. They did not give him anything at first. They just kept trying to keep the fever down till all of the tests came back. Once they started an antibiotic near the end of his stay he got better and was able to go home. He lost loads of weight because he couldn't eat. We thought we were going to lose him for a bit. The nurse was scared when his fever had shot up to 106. Needless to say it took him weeks to get back some strength to return to work. You have to be careful. Oh, and he had went to the doctor a couple of days before who had given him an antibiotic for the pneumonia, but he got worse. When Called the doctor in the wee hours of the morning he had me meet him at the hospital. He said if I had waited a couple of hours he would likely have been gone. Thankfully it was not his time to go yet.
I don't blame you at all with taking it easy with the cardio workouts.

oh gosh I have been bad and not posting i am doing my workouts

Got stitches out of my hand, the doc said 6 months to totally heal, I have to be careful not to get the spot caught where the blade went in and open the wound again so being very careful

Today I did 4DS Shoulders and had a great workout. I also did the Ab work on this workout. Warmed up with Pyramid Upper Body.

- 10's/12's/15's/20's - Pyramid sets (16/12/10/8 reps)

Round 2

Upright Dumbbell Rows – 15's - 12 reps

Round 3

Round 5

Abs

I then walked on my treadmill for 1.25 miles.

Thanks for the comments and prayers for my kitty. Seen him yesterday and he was more alert and you could just see he wanted out of there. He still has blood and mucus in his urine and we finally seen doctor that explained the procedures and what happens with male cats ad their bladders. The doctor that I have been dealing with really hasn't told me much of anything so when we went up there, we let this other doctor have it, which probably wasn't fair to her, but we are just so frustrated. Hopefully we'll get him home soon.

Diane Sue
- I have a Nook so that is how I read on my treadmill. If it was a book I don't think that would work. Love my Nook!!! I will definitely go somewhere else with Spaz if this happens again. Very frustrated with these people.

Jolie - Dang girl, nice shoulder workout. Nice job on that. You are right, leave our fur babies alone. Or at least give me updates instead of making me worry so much. Idiots.

Roselyn - Glad your hand is doing better and that you are working out!

Nice workouts everyone!!! Have a great weekend! So glad it's Friday!!

I had a bad night with my allergies. All of the coughing has made my neck hurt. I will have to see what I want to do today .

Roselyn, I am so glad to hear that you are healing and able to get your workouts in.

Debbie, that is good that you got them to explain what is going on with your kitty. I am sure seeing him and having him seem better provides a bit less worry. I have an old Sony reader that would work , but I don't buy books for it anymore and it is not wifi so I don't get library downloads with it. Sony quit having books to purchase a d transwered their accounts to Kobo. I use my library for a lot of my reading material now.

Today I had a lot of interruptions, but finally got through my workout. I did Ice Boot Camp circuit basic premix #6 main, blizzard, muscle meltdown biceps, and icy core #1, 84 minutes, 504 calories. I wanted to see how I felt about it over S&S boot camp since there was some thoughts on it. I think it is easier. I think that is because there is not the compound moves along with the upper and lower and it has you doing some ab work with each round. I went heavier than Cathe on lower body and for most upper moves when she gives a choice of weights I took the lower one. At first I was going to do just the lower mix, but I looked over the exercises and decided it was doable. I just did cardio when Cathe did the push ups. I think I have hit the chest enough this week. Also I did go a bit heavier on biceps than Cathe. 10's seemed really light so a lot of the 10# moves I did with 12's and the 12# moves I did with 15's.

Today I did Xtrain Biceps and Pyramid Upper Biceps. They are fried! I am not posting my weights because I am short on time but I went up on some weights from last week! Still no cardio, I am so scared I will get sick. The doctor put me on Tamiflu so I don't get sick. I usually don't take anything like this but I cannot afford to get sick like my son did!

Girls, great workouts!!!

My son went back to school today after being out over a week. He lost 14 pounds total. so sad...

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Jolie, Tamiflu is a good idea. Even if y ou got exposed it would make it less intense. I have had two very bad flu viruses and started getting the flu shot. I don't want the bad experience again. . My daughter got the h1n1 virus a few years ago and was horribly sick. Nope, I don't want it. I practically drug my husband to the doctors to get a flu shot this yeat. He always refuses and gets the flu. I don't like taking anything either.
It will take your so awhile to build himself back up.
