HARD CORE FITNESS MANIACS FOR THURS FEB 3

Theresa - I foam rolled my left side last night and I can't believe the difference I feel today. Knee still isn't 100% but at least I can bend it. I felt each tight muscle as I rolled and I can't believe it. I just don't feel like my muscles are tight when I move around throughout the day. They are, and I think I'm damaging them by not keeping them flexible.

So I've decided to incorporate yoga into my fitness routine. I remember how good I felt when I was doing yoga on a consistent basis, I just need to figure out how to add it in. With my current rotation it will be easy so I'll start Saturday or next week, depending on how the knee feels. I will also start foam rolling on a consistent basis in the evenings while I'm watching TV. It only takes 5-10 minutes and I'm quite sure I can muster up that time.

Tired of being tight and in pain....

Thanks for you time on this, Theresa. I'm hoping my SIL can get me one of those books today at the library. I'll find out later.

And thanks to everyone else for listening to me complain about all these pains. I just need to start doing something about it and I know what I have to do. I'm actually looking forward to doing yoga again. I'll just have to get it worked into my routine. It is doable.

Good Morning :D

I am feeling better, got home lasts night and did my chores and off to bed I went. This morning, I did Muscle Max. I did not bother recording this workout, I did not have my workout sheet and I lost count, I just went for it. I had to hit the pulse button several times, to caught air

Debbie I remember you doing yoga, glad knee is getting better. I’m having pain in places I never felted before, getting older sucks. Maybe I need a lubricate a few tbsp of castor oil, my dad uses to make us take it when I was kid, um…talking 1910

Hey Ladies-

Oh Debbie :D :D :D :D I am so glad it helped, and that some of the pain is gone. The more I looked at that book, the more it clicked and I have been feeling the same way. I ALWAYS pass over stretching and tried to cut corner with it.....it catches up eventually :( I have noticed a big difference just spending the little time I do on it. And now to enable purchases :D The Element Yoga for Flexibility and Stress Relief is FABULOUS. She is not annoying (not too earthy and yoga-y  ) and the workouts are 30 min each. Also, Jill Miller has some great yoga workouts (she is a little more LOUD for a yoga teacher but tolerable). She has one called Upper Body Rx and Lower Body RX that can break it down into 5-10 min sections like hips or shoulder or you can do the whole thing. Also there is a lot of talk on her post athletic yoga workout. I am not sure what you have in the way of yoga, but these are pretty darn good ones :) Mary's website (totalfitnessdvds.com) has long clips of those and if you use the code 10 off, you get 10%off and free shipping.

Rosleyn-I look at Cathe's latest rotation, it looks nuts :D

Teddy-glad you are feeling better :)

Yesterday I did Amy's Hi Lo Knockout. I did the knockout mix and my miserable attempt at hi/lo section one. I don't seem to click with those very well, but I will tough it out b/c it's fun :D I finished with VCore static work and stretch. Total time was 64 min. Today I am not sure yet....I need to go study while I have the opportunity.

Roselyn - Nice workout. Intensity scares me!

Teddygirl - I'm starting to believe the older we get, the more flexibility we need to have. I have to get yoga into my rotations, it's a must and I realize that now. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Theresa - THANK YOU for the yoga recommendations. I have a few that I really like but need some new ones. I will definitely check those out. They sound fabulous. I can't believe how much better I feel today. My inner thigh is screaming at me, though. I know I certainly did something to it last night. I'm glad, it's finally trying to stretch out. I will check out total fitness at lunch. Thanks so much! :D

Speaking of foam rolling. Does anyone know if you can or should do it every day? Or is it like massage? You have to wait a certain amount of hours to have it done again, usually 2 days? Anyone know?

Debbie-you can foam roll as much as you want. In fact, it is often encouraged as a warm up to correct muscle imbalances or use it as a cool down. I also thought of a way you could work yoga into your routine, is it possible to use it as a warm up? Some of the power yogas can really get your body moving :)

The personal trainer thing I am studying for REALLY encourages the use of a foam roller, along with active, static stretching of the hamstrings, calves, hip flexors, and lats to help fix the imabalances we get from desk jobs or repetitive movements :D Hope that helps :D
