Hard Core Fitness Maniacs for Mon Sept 26

I started STS this morning and it felt great to get back at it. Still not 100% but I have a feeling moving around and getting active again will help the rest of the way. I feel great. I lifted pansy weights and did pansy pushups, but I broke a sweat and I felt the burn. So I'm happy about that. As the weeks progress, I will up my intensity. I just want to play it safe for right now. It felt really good getting back into my workout room and throwing those weights around.

I rode my motorcycle on Saturday to go get dh and I dinner and as I rode I could feel that pinch in my left side again. The next day that pinced nerve was acting up again. I hate to say this, but I think my motorcycle is the culprit. I'm not sure what to do about this? DH said maybe we need to get different handlebars for me. He said we should go to the place where we got my bike and I can sit on different motorcycles to see which handlebars feel better. Thing is, I won't really know until I ride for a while. I'm hoping since riding season is almost over, this problem will heal and by next summer I will be ok. We'll see. I'll have to just be very aware of how I feel when I ride. I'm bummed about this if this is truly the case, but as of right now that is where the problem seems to lie. :(

We painted our dining room yesterday and although I was worried about my traps and upper back, I felt fine all day. I stretched out by hanging (sort of) on the ladder every now and then and that helped alot. I did that stretch today with my workout as well, actually, I stretched alot while working out today.

Only time will tell I guess. I feel great now, lets see how I feel in about 4 hours. :)

It was a busy weekend. No workout yesterday. I went shopping at the farmers market with dd and dinner at chilis. I ate way to much.
Today I did Tracey Staehle's Bootcamp strength week 1, 39 min, 307 calories, max hr 160. I followed this with Kelly Coffey's Train like a contender quick blend 19 min 122 calories max hr 148.
Total time was 58 min and calories burned was 429. I had to get done to take my grandson to school and get back to for the sprinkler repair guys. This week is probably going to be quite a few short workouts unless I can drag out of bed at 4 am.
Bootcamp strength #1
4 rnds 30/15
kettlebell swings 35#, kettlebell high pull 35#, dumbbell squat thrust with overhead press 15# dumbbells ( think I should try 20's next time), dumbbells front &back lunge 20# dumbbells, push up with toe touch, bridge shoulder press 15#
finisher 10/15 8 rnds squat jumps on rebounder/ plank hops
tabata 20/10 squat jumps/hold

Debbie, for a long time I would get neck pain from my motorcycle helmut. It was too loose and when we were on the highway it would move sideways slightly and I would tense my neck trying to fight the twist on it. I finally got a new good fitting helmut. I hope you can figure it out. I am glad your workout went well.

Diane Sue - I think my helmet contributes by pressing down on my neck because it's heavy, but I think the handlebars are mostly to blame. I remember when we first got my new motorcycle that the handlebars seemed way far from me. I had to reach and I know that aggrevated my traps and upper back. I rode a lot like that. About the middle of summer we ordered 4" extenders which brought the bar towards me another 4" and that helped alot, but I think it was too late by then, the irritation was already there.

I'm hoping with the coming winter the nerve will heal and by next summer I'll be ok. I'll just have to be very careful and see how I feel after every ride. This really bums me out.
