Happy Thanks Peeping

Ellie-Hopefully you won't feel lonely when you get up this morning. :D I'm actually GMT +3, so I could start the thread every day. But that would be boring (and I can't think up that many titles!). So sometimes I hang out till early afternoon here to let someone else get the ball rolling. But you can always know that, whatever time little rooster gets you up, another PEEP is peeping across the ocean.

And speaking of roosters, a real one actually woke me up this morning at 5:15! :D There are tons of roosters here, but the fact that we don't have any on our compound and that we run a loud fan at night means that I usually can sleep through them. But not today. Must've been yesterday's power of suggestion. :)

Wendy, I am LOL at Houdini and the phone and the milk. She sounds just like my DS at that age. (The one who was also launching himself out of bed.) I have 3 kids now, ages 8, 6, and 4 and I consistently tell people that having THREE is easier than my first DS alone when he was 2. Seriously! So hang in there. For me, at least, it really has gotten easier.

Well, I've already earned my piece of pecan pie for this afternoon. After Mr. 5am Rooster, I went ahead and got up and ran 5.2 miles. I'm very proud of myself. The rest day for the ankle yesterday was perfect, and today it gave me no trouble at all. So it was a truly minor thing. I think laying off yesterday was really smart. I bet if I'd tried to work through it, it would've been sore again today. As it is, it's all better.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you PEEPS who follow.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I just finished baking my first apple pie and it looks good. It wasn't hard at all, but I hated peeling all the apples and after I did the first one I gave the rest to DH to do. He's the resident potato peeler so I decided that he could do apples too :D

I rode the bike tonight and basically made a huge mess of the kitchen with cooking and everything for tomorrow. We are going to go over a friend's house for dinner so that should be fun. We are supposed to bring dessert (apple pie) and stuffing.

Tomorrow DH and I are going to do a Turkey Trot here in the morning and then go and see James Bond and then go to our friend's house. Of course the weather here has been relatively good but tomorrow it is going to be a high of 40. The nicer weather couldn't have held out for one more day??? I hate jogging in the cold, but it should be a great day.

Laura - sounds like you had a great run today.

Wendy - how are you feeling? Did you see TC tonight? I really want the recipe for that vegan stuffing. It looked yummy.

JJ - I hope that you enjoyed time with your family today and sorry that your mall trip was not completely successful yesterday.

Hi to Dani, Jerry, Ellie, Vilma, and Heather and others that happen to peep in. I'll check in again tomorrow.

Good Morning Peeps
Happy Thanksgiving

Of course I am up, it's 5 am.
Waking up DH on his first day off is not fun!!! He has rolled over 4 times and told me he will run later. But I am a persistent little bugger, so in about 5 minutes the alarm next to head is gonna go off REALLY LOUD. Then he can go for his run and I can enjoy a Cathe tape when he gets back.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I hear him up there, gotta go. BBL for more. Maybe I should run:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Happy Thanksgiving, Peeps!!!!

Peeps:

Happy Thanksgiving! I wrapped up my rotation for November this morning with a very modified version of 4-Day Split Boot Camp. Workouts like this are not fun at this weight and size, and the pain in my feet is keeping me awake at night. I am amazed that the contestants on The Biggest Loser keep up with all the running and jumping. I was able to keep up with Cathe’s intense workouts until this year. Getting older is not fun! The cardio premixes I was enjoying in the summer are a much better fit for me at this point in my journey. I decided to take a break from Cathe for the rest of the year and focus on water workouts in the pool at the club as well as Zumba classes. I need to start my one-rep max tests too. Since STS will be a disciplined 14-week rotation, I want to enjoy something more spontaneous during the holidays and hit the ground running the first week in January. Less intense workouts during the holidays may help me keep my appetite in check and eat less. This is a stressful time of year at work, and water jogging is very soothing and meditative.

I am spending the day with friends. We decided to fix dessert only. We are eating a small meal out (so we do not have to contend with all the leftovers) and returning home for the good stuff later in the day while we watch the Cowboys. I am hoping to break away for an hour to meet a friend for a walk at the lake.

Laura, I mailed your caramel Fiber One bars yesterday and had to fill out a customs form for the first time. The postal clerk laughed when I disclosed the contents of the package--granola bars and Peeps. Yes, I added a box of Christmas Peeps just for fun.

Karin, have fun with your friends today. Your apple pie sounds good.

Ellie, enjoy your workout and yummy food today.

Wendy, I just remembered a veggie I like without butter or cheese. I steam cauliflower until it gets nice and soft then mash it with sea salt, organic pepper, and garlic. It tastes like potatoes! I like steamed kale with organic apple cider vinegar too. Garlic, lemon, and vinegar are flavors I love.

Love and hugs to all the Peeps. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Blessings,
Heather B.

Happy Thanksgiving to all Peeps!! No workout for me today, and I received a special treat, DW was cancelled from work today!!!

Happy Turkey Day!!

I'm not in charge of dinner this year (YAY!!) but I have to make a bunch of side dishes. I hope to get in a quick workout before we have to leave. We are eating early because some people have to work later. My nephew is a security guard at the mall and DS starts work at Best Buy at 3:00 AM. He is dreading tomorrow morning:confused:

We had a great time celebrating DH's birthday yesterday. We all applied for passports in hopes of a trip to Germany next year and maybe a Mexico trip for spring break if prices come down. Had a wonderful dinner and watched the Gophers win their basketball game.

Laura~ So...are you having rooster for Thanksgiving?;) High fives on your run this morning!

Karin~ Save me a piece of apple pie:p Have fun with DH at the turkey trot and enjoy the movie.

Ellie~ LOL! Your DH sounds like mine:confused: Mine loves to lift weights but I just can't get him to do intense cardio.

Heather~ I haven't started my 1 rep max either. It just seems so overwhelming. Steamed mashed califlower is so yummy!

Jerry~ Glad to hear DW got the day off!! Enjoy:)

Wendy~ I hope you are feeling better today.

Sending a shout out to all the peeps! Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

JJ

JJ--Thanks for the high fives!! When I came in, I was already to whoop and high five with DH and he was STILL ASLEEP! He did congratulate me enthusiastically later, but he missed THE moment. I don't begrudge him the sleeping in though . . . he's been getting up early to do P90X with his buddy, and today was a rare sleep in day for him. Would've been for me, too, if it weren't for the sore ankle yesterday and the ROOSTER this morning! ;)

And, speaking of the rooster, JJ, I'm LOL at your asking if I'm having rooster for Thanksgiving. As a matter of fact, we ARE having chicken because the turkeys here are just dry and tough. We tried it for a few years because you HAVE to have turkey, right? And then we decided moist chicken was better than dry turkey. :D

Hi Peeps! HAPPY THANKGIVING!!!

See that there are many Peeps up and at 'em bright and early on this holiday morning! It is only 7:30 Pacific time... We are just going to take it easy today, but still getting my workout in sometime before noon!

Laura: you are awesome! good job on the run and so glad your ankle did not bother you! Are you guys doing the traditional American Thanksgiving feast, or are you throwing in a local flair? Hope you enjoy every bight of that pecan pie!

Wendy: also hope you are feeling better today... are you still having the entire gang over?

Heather: have a wonderful day and enjoy our walk too!

Karin: Good for you on your first pie! Will you do it again? I agree with the apple pealing though... I have the evidence of DH's first apple pie from a few years back... He can make just about everything, but baked goods were not his focus, so it left a little to be desired asthetically, but still hit the spot... My DM got him a pretty cool pastry kit with all the little shapes like leaves, hearts, etc. so you can make fancy pie tops like Martha Stewart... she always made her pies with that little extra flair! You have an action packed day... you can actually go for a run and then sit in a theater? my hats off to you girl! I'd be full from all the popcorn to eat a Thanksgiving dinner... just can't do a movie without the popcorn! let us know how the movie is... :)

Ellie: LOL at kicking DH out of bed to go for his run! my DH is usually up around 8am on the weekends but I send in MissyLou (furbaby) to do the dirty work... she licks non-stop until he complies! ***insert evil laugh here*** (funny, it's almost 8:00 now and she seems to know it is just about time because she is sitting here staring at me, wagging her tail and doing her little happy dance in anticipation!) but hope you enjoy your workout time... What did you end up doing?

Jerry: enjoy the day with your DW! what an extra special blessing to have her around when you were not expecting it!

JJ: good luck with all your side dishes! It must be great not having to deal with the entire meal and still be able to have the whole shibang! We did that a few years ago with some single neighbors on our block and it was great fun and a larger variety of foods than if we would have just done our own thing! Enjoy your day! Keep us posted as to your upcoming vacations! they sound wonderful!

So we are not doing the traditional turkey either.. DH found a duck at Whole Foods and got me a cornish game hen, so I am basically having chicken, too... no rooster but close! but most of the regular sides so it will still be a grand feast!

Raise your glass in a toast to all the Peeps, and those who follow, for a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Cheers!!!

Dani--for the most part, it's traditional American. We do chicken, like I said. And you can't get orange sweet potatoes, so I make that with pumpkin. And we have to do everything totally from scratch (ie, you make the french fried onions for the topping for green bean casserole, and you make the cream of mushroom soup; you churn your own butter and whip your own cream, etc.). Yes, I mean TOTALLY from scratch.

But, yes, it's an American meal.

:D

Happy Thanksgiving!

OK, Cowboys are on in a few, but I just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday and tell you how grateful I am that I feel like I can call each and every single one of you a friend. :)

I am MUCH better today and did Push/Pull upper body and Stability Ball abs this morning. Then I baked a pecan pie. I can tell I'm still not 100 percent, though, because this was not my finest Thanksgiving dinner (just for me, DH, and Houdini...and the crew member who is flying into Dallas in three hours--he gets a plate of leftovers. :) ) My stuffing was a little soggy--I think I wasn't paying too much attention and forgot how much stock I already had in there, and my sweet potato casserole was too sweet (NOTE TO SELF--if one is congested and can't smell, ask someone else to taste it for you--I couldn't taste it yesterday when I was cooking and kept adding vanilla and hmmm, oddly enough, it's over-flavored today when I can taste. UGH!)

I must say, however, my deserts look FAB and I have high hopes for them because I simply followed the recipe and didn't tinker with them like I did everything else, LOL. I took a picture of my pies and of Houdini enjoying the day in a leaf pile, I'll share them tomorrow after downloading...

:) Wendy

I’m back and I’m pooped out already. DH and I did the Turkey Trot this morning. It was a 5K and too me 40 minutes. I know that I didn’t break any speed records, but I did a walk/jog and was pretty excited about finishing that fast. My knee just really can’t take running on asphalt anymore so I take what I can get!

We also saw Quantum of Solace and we were two of about 15 people in the theater. It was great. I had no expectations for the movie, but I ended up liking it quite a bit. Also, it helped that it was only 90 minutes so I didn’t get too antsy.

Well, I better get ready to go to our friend’s house. TBH, I am feeling like laying around on the couch but have to push myself sometimes to be more outgoing. I really want to stay home though :). I’m sure I will end up having fun, right?

Ellie – LOL about your DH trying to get more sleep but you trying to get him up to go to run. Did you do a Cathe DVD today? What are your plans for today?

Heather – we are going to have to share modifying tips for Cathe’s 4DS. I just bought 4DS off of the yaya swap for $50 (woohoo) and I previewed the boot camp and HIS sections while riding the bike last night. I have to say that I got a little upset when I previewed them because my knee just can’t do half of that stuff anymore. I’m glad to hear that you have modifications for BC. I’d love to hear them if you want to share. Did you have a good meal? Where did you and your friends end up going? I love your idea of going out to eat and having dessert at home. Dessert is my favorite part!!

Jerry – that’s wonderful that your DW is home from work today. I hope that you share a wonderful holiday together. BTW, I was wondering if you went to the Phillies victory parade after the World Series. I was at my parent’s house (in South Jersey) right after the World Series and my brother and I went to the parade. It was insane. I am embarrassed to say that I spent about $100 when I was in Jersey buying Phillies world series memorabilia for DH and I.

JJ – OMG, I don’t envy your nephew or your DS. When I was a teenager I worked in retail and the day after Thanksgiving was so horrible. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday. Also, I am glad that your DH had a great birthday. I love that you guys applied for passports and are planning a trip. Where do you think you will visit if you go to Germany?

Laura – girl, you are amazing. I am just blown away at the thought of making every ingredient from scratch.

Dani – how’s your relaxing day going? What workout did you end up doing? I had to laugh at your DH’s first attempt at a pie. It seems like mine is the same. It looks pretty messy and sketchy but tastes really good. Do you have the day off tomorrow or do you have to work?

Wendy – I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better. I was getting worried. I had to LOL at your too sweet, sweet potato casserole. It really stinks to cook when you have a cold because you can’t smell or taste. Pecan pie sounds delicious! I haven’t tried to make one of those yet. I just started with apple because that seemed pretty straightforward. Have fun watching the Cowboys!! I also can’t wait to see your pics tomorrow.

rain rain go away!

Well, the big dry ditch, aka Las Vegas, isn't so dry anymore! It has been raining on and off for the past 2 days. Normally when that happens we have some pretty sever flooding shortly after, and then there is the aftermath of garbage, rocks and mud to deal with... and I'm feeling especially fond of snuggling on the couch with furbaby and a pillow! I did a short treadmill walk but nothing to write home about... so much for one of Cathe's killer circuit workouts... Oh well...

We haven't even started cooking stuff yet... broke out the cheeses, crackers, olives, pickles, etc for snacks just before noon... baked the apple pie (from a box this time) so just trying to get everything to digest a bit... Duck/game hen will go in the oven in an our or so, as DH has them marinating overnight. Asperagas, green bean casserole, mashed red potatos, hawaiian sweet rolls and already mentioned the apple pie (with vanilla low fat ice cream)... so nothing that really needs a lot of prep work!

OH, I am SO disappointed in the Seahawks this year... watching the game and it is depressing... I'm from Eastern Washington and was excited that they were playing the Cowboys (DH's team) and was so hoping for something more competative! At least it's not a blow out like the Lions game!

Karin: so glad you did well on your run and had a good report on the movie... DH really dislikes going to the movies, so I have not mentioned going lately, but as we were snacking, the preview came on for the new Bond movie and he suggested we go... it definately helps that it is just over 90 minutes and not any more, so the action makes the time go by a bit faster... So looks like we may go either tomorrow or saturday... apparently today was the day to go though, as it seems you had the theater almost to yourselves! Enjoy your festivities this evening with friends!

Wendy: I am so glad you are feeling better too! hope you are enjoying the game and your afternoon with family and friends. That was most kind of you to include an out-of-towner in your plans... it's so hard traveling on a holiday!

will check back later (after the eating-induced coma wears off a bit)

Karin...

I didn't go to the parade, I don't really enjoy that type of crowd. If I had gone, I would have went straight to the stadium and waited there until the players came in, it would have been more of a controlled environment.

Don't feel bad about spending $$$, you're just doing your part to stimulate the economy, and things like this don't come around too much, only the second title in 100+ years of exsistance....enjoy every minute of it!
