*~*~*Happy Independence Day MELTERS*~*~*

Cathlete
Morning all!

I don't suppose you'll be around today, and I'll be chatting to myself, but I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

I got up and did Strikezone this morning. Still need to do some abs later.

**BreckGirl enters, catching up from yesterday**

Shelley – so good to see you – hope you come back and hang out awhile. Hope your mind is giving you a rest. I’ll be around a little today! I’ll play with you!

Deb – what iTreads do you like? I do love Grace. ( I could do without the “oh my goodness, oh my goodness” that she perseverates on, and the “WOO”s sometimes cause me acoustic trauma… but other than that, I love them!) I haven’t tried my CC yet, but those iTreads keep me huffin. Do you do the longer ones? I might ask for some assistance on new purchases… there’s one track in particular that GRATES on my nerves that I want to be sure is NOT on any more that I buy. Otherwise I won’t do it. So there.

Tneah – I bet fireworks on the boat will be spectacular! Sounds like a blast! (well, that’s a corny pun which was completely unintended, but I’m leaving it). :7 I had some MBTs. Never wore them enough so got rid of them on eBay a matter of a few weeks ago, actually. Do you think they really make a difference? I mean, obviously you have to WEAR them to find out – that’s why I’m asking you. But my feet fell asleep on the elliptical when I used to use it! Weird. So strange yours did the same thing. I always wondered if it was because I was pushing my foot too far forward in my shoe, or had my laces tied too tight or something. You’re a ROCK STAR for wearing the MBTs on it… Extra work baby! What’s Red Carpet Ready? And thank you darlin, for your sweet congrats. Thank goodness is right! You are just precious! When I came back out to the waiting room and saw DH, I wanted to hug him (I was already tearing up) but I knew that I would have burst into tears. I didn’t want the other ladies in the waiting room to have to see all that (for whatever reason – didn’t want to frighten them, didn’t want to advertise my health in case someone there was sick, you get the idea), so I pulled him out into the hallway and melted down by the elevators. Relief, it was, but just a release of emotion! He was a little freaked since I didn’t talk until I got him out there. (giggling now at your description of DHs massage)

And yes, lady – enjoy that vino. Life is too too short. I was thinking (while humiliated, shirtless, with things drawn on my body) when I was sitting alone in the mammo room waiting for someone to tell me that I was okay (while various people came in and out, clicking on the computer, looking – studying, staring) that I do complain an awful lot about my body. But the bottom line is that it’s always worked for me, it’s generally done what I’ve asked it to do (and more, when I push it), and it takes me everywhere I want to go. Why do I criticize it so much? I’m not perfect by far, but I’m healthy. If I died tomorrow, would I say “thank goodness I did extra cardio for that ice cream I ate”???? Hmmm… Why does it take something so serious to make us look at things differently? Now I’m sure at some point I’ll become less dramatic about the situation, but I’m honestly going to try to take it a little easier on myself (as far as criticisms go). I’m the worst. Really, the worst.

Sorry Tneah – that was a bit long. **she continues**

Leanne – are you a vegetarian? Or just don’t like beef/red meat? Thanks for the happy dance! I had no idea you were such a good dancer!!! :D :D :D I will add that to my growing list of Leanne’s talents. ;)

Shannon – are you a Cathe step person or do you have other faves? Amy Bento you like, no? I like step a lot, but am a little burnt out right now. So I’m resting my step for a bit. :D

Robin – yep, that was my baseline mammo. I’m glad I don’t need another one for a few years! Whoa. A Finger Lake GTG? Holy smokes that would be a riot! :7 Your description of dinner sounds DIVINE! Do you love cooking/baking? Cake sounds tasty too of course… mmmmm
I’m with you, Tneah and Shelley on the sleeping thing! I’m completely unpredictable with sleep. DH says I sleep in shifts. Sometimes if I get home from work early enough (as in an hour or so before he does), I’ll collapse on the couch and slip into a coma until it’s time to fix dinner. But often I can’t sleep through the night at all.

Hope you get some rest, Peggie dear! And screw the workout. Your body is CRYING for sleep. ;)

Lainie – your party will be fab regardless of furniture. Fun people=fun party, no matter what. Nobody is going to care! Have a wonderful time and I can’t wait to hear details!!! Do y’all have fireworks nearby?

Waving to Kara and Allison!!! (any plans for the 4th with studley man?) ;)

Didn’t work out today. I’m up early enough, but just have a bad case of the “I don’t wanna”-s. So that makes a grand total of TWO days I worked out this week. Whatever. I’ll get back to it, because I do miss it – I just don’t want to right now. I want to sit here, drink coffee and write to my buddies! (LMAO, I typed “biddies” first! – y’all are so NOT biddies, but dang that was funny)

Happy 4th melty mavens!

:* :*

Morning all.

BreckGirl, no, I think biddies sometimes fits! Yes, I do love to cook and bake, mostly because I love to eat! I agree whole-heartedly with your decision to try to be kinder about your body. That's one of the things I admire about Shannon. She is very sane about her workouts and knows when her mind set is getting a little out of hand. After many, many years of fussing about my body, and never coming very close to achieving my fantasy look, I've gotten a little more accepting about what I have and what I'll never have. I used to get up early to workout on days when I knew it wouldn't fit in later. Now I just shrug and realize that life sometimes gets in the way. I'm still trying to clean up my eating act and I still dream of melting 10 -20 pounds, but I don't obsess about it as much as I used to. Note: I didn't say I don't obsess, just not quite as much as when I was younger.

Tneah, I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner and wine last night. Ours was wonderful. It was a recipe from Cooking Light, and tasted a bit like the meal I had last week when DH took me out in my new dress. You broke the dinghy!?!? Watch out how you use those muscles, girl!

Shelley, so how are your RT preparations going? Have you gotten any new stuff for the trip? Are you rooming with Evily? When do you expect to arrive on Thursday. I'm hoping to get off work early and arrive mid-afternoon. I'm excited about seeing you!

Leanne, how was your baby visiting trip? I'm excited at the thought of you and Tneah getting together!

Lainie, are you up and making party preparations? Wish we could all be there.

Jennifer, enjoy your trip. Hope the weather behaves.

Hi to Shannon, Kara, Kristi (are you home?), Peggie, Deb, did I forget anyone? Hope not.

Well, goodness! Here I was expecting nobody and I get reams of reading material!

BG - you crack me right up.:p You have a way with words (and parentheses). I can attest to the fact that Robin is a fab cook (she makes awesome homemade pizza) and an amazing baker!!! I haven't quite achieved sanity about my body image/workouts/eating habits. I figure it'll happen on my death bed or soon thereafter:p

Tneah - I'm LOL at you breaking the dinghy. Should we call you Miss Universe?

Lainie-bug - good luck with the party today, and nobody will care about the furniture!

Jennifer - I was surprised to see you! I thought that the Haters was your home and that you weren't going to post in any other check-ins! Enjoy kayaking.

Leanne - how was that baby yesterday? Just darling, I bet.:)

Hi to everyone else! When is Kristi back?

Hi, all!!!
Happy 4th of July!!! We are home! We got home around 11:00 last night. We had a wonderful trip -- lots of fun, shopping, FOOD! We all planned to sleep in a bit this morning, but DH woke us at 7:15 b/c our house had been TP'd (toilet paper'd) by some of DDs' friends! Boy, the girls were NOT happy to clean that up! :)

I just barely scanned some posts, but do I see we have two new Melters -- Breckgirl & Peggie??? Welcome!

I'll read the past few days and BBL. I have lots of unpacking and wash to do. I also need to get to the grocery store. I'm planning to do S&H chest and some kind of cardio later. We did run on Lake Michigan 3 days of our trip -- I did my first outdoor iTread one day. I loved it!!!

So I'll see what you've been up to and "see" you later! I missed chatting with you guys!

YAY! Kristi is back!!! Which outdoor iTread didja do? I have a couple and I like them too!

*jumps up and down because Shelley is* (that jumping up and down is contagious!) :D

Hi Kristi! Welcome back! Many many thanks for the welcome to your melty group! These ladies are super-wonderous!!!! While you've been away, I've filled this thread with lots of drama and verbiage. Hope you don't suffer from eye strain catching up. ;)

Happy Fourth, everyone!

Oh man, do I love holidays. I slept in until 6:15, and I feel so darned good! We got a totally unexpected thunderstorm last night. Actually, early this morning. It rollled in at about midnight, boomed around for about an hour, and then settled into some good rain. I woke up briefly at about 4 a.m. and it was still raining. Ahh, life is good. I guess Mother Nature gave us her own version of fireworks. ;)

I did CC 8 last night. It felt great. I was really supposed to do CC 6, and I fully intended to. I was ready, thinking about how I love the flow of that one.... and then I walked over to my CC collection and picked up 8. I just couldn't help it. :7

Today will be PLB, along with baking some bread and other odds and ends. Right now I'm cooking a bunch of corn on the cob that somebody gave my parents, and then Mom gave some to me... anyhow, I cook and freeze it. Otherwise, I'd never be able to eat it all before it went bad. And of course this evening will be our Fourth celebration, assuming it doesn't rain. There's still a 50% chance of more!

Shelley - I hope the workday passes super-fast for you, and that the boss doesn't pull one of his Friday Afternoon Frenzies. :p

BG - I'm very much a Cathe step girl! I have one routine by Tracey Staehl, and I like it. I don't have any by Amy yet, but I have a couple on pre-order that I'm looking forward to trying. I'm glad you're enjoying your morning and taking it easy. That's what holidays are for!

Robin - thanks so much! You know, I always admire you for the same reasons. AND you have such a great sense of humor about everything. I'll have to admit that I wasn't very rational about CC 8 last night. That second challenge pushes me into Level 4 every time, even though Sean says to stay at level 3. I don't want to drop my resistance back! So yeah, I was stubborn and very nearly got myself into trouble. I felt some very strong signs of overexertion but pushed just...a...little...more...

Kristi - ugh - who on earth would want to TP your house? How annoying. We don't have much of that out in the country, but punky little teenagers do love to go on mailbox-bashing sprees. Mine's been hit a couple of times. I'm glad you're home safe and sound!

Hi to everyone else... I really don't expect to be back today, but you never know!

*Marches in carrying our flag* Happy 4th of July!!:) :)

I get so teary-eyed when I think about all the wonderful military boys and girls who have fought to save our country and give us the wonderful freedoms we enjoy. Oh dear, its gonna be one of those reflective, tear-filled days I think.

I used to date a captain in the Marines years before I met DH. Before that I lived close to a military base in Washington, so I have always had a very soft spot in my heart for our military and their service I guess. Plus I love history and visiting the memorials in WA DC is so incredible, it almost brings you to your knees in gratitude. Oh dear, see? I am tearing up as I write...

OK! We are not going to take the boat out to see the fireworks, we want our captain to be able to spend today with his wifey and child so we will walk across the street with George (who will no doubt bark his fool head off) and watch the fireworks.:7 Everyone have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

BG, you are a hoot and a holler girl!:+ I am with you on the body respect thing. After my hip surgery I was in total awe of the body and the way it heals itself. I think we should all have to list one positive thing each morning we love about our bodies, I know that sounds kinda "Dr. Phil" but I find that when I do this, my day goes alot better...oh, and instead of comparing myself with other women, I find if I give a perfect stranger a compliment that I mean sincerely of course, that it lifts me up too and helps erase my body bashing talk.Oh, and yep, I bet it was the MBT shoes that made my feet fall asleep. I used my regular shoes and my feet were fine.

Tneah 101 this morning!

Shelley, its not 4th of July for you, but you can join us in our celebration! After all, we are sister countries.:p And I will be around to play today as well. Oh, MBT's are these shoes that look slightly orthropedic, they are supposed to work the tushy and legs when you wear them. They have alot of cushion making them the perfect choice for runners and walkers.

Kristi, welcome back chica! Too funny about the toilet paper mess...kids these days *shakes head*:p

Robin, I know, it was hilarious, the captain and DH just sorta stared at me in amazement when I broke the steering wheel, it was funny, I guess I am really stronger than I think...heehee. And kudos to you and your healthier approach to body image...well at least on most days right? :7

A big good morning to the rest of you lovelies, need to go walk the pup, its really foggy out there this morning. Will try and make it to the bike shop today. I want one that has a basket in front so I can haul stuff if I need to. You know those cruiser types of bikes? I will not be doing any "Lance Armstrong" cycling on it, so the cuter the bike the better. Maybe I will get a pink one, and then wear a white straw hat covered in plastic flowers with bright red lipstick. I could be the talk of Shelter Island. That crazy lady on her pink bike!:7

Be back later...hi Shannon!!! Which ones are the Itread outdoor workouts guys??

Good morning. Happy 4th! And Happy Friday to our Canadian Melter. ;)

I feel so weird today. I was so tired last night. I ended up not going out with the Boy and I went to bed early. I didn't sleep at all though. I was up all night with horrible night sweats. Why do I get those all the time??!?!? x( I went through two--yes TWO--sets of pajamas. I finally dragged my arse out of bed at 9:30 and I feel like a total zombie.

I'm supposed to go to a picnic with The Boy today and it starts at 1pm. I don't want to go anymore. The weather is crappy and I'm beyond exhausted. I don't know why. Ugh. Why oh why on my day off does this happen? I just want to go back to bed.

Kristi--WELCOME BACK! It sounds like you had a great time. Details, please! :)

Breckgirl--you are too funny. I love reading your posts. I'm trying to become more sane about my body and working out. It's hard, though. I've been nutso about it since I was 15. I don't know why. It all started when I joined the swim team back in highscool. I quit after a week. It all went downhill from there. I love your attitude about it, though. :)

Robin--I'm so glad dinner went well. And wow that it tasted like your meal when you were at the restaurant! Maybe you should contemplate a a career change....Allison's personal chef perhaps??? ;)

Shelley--thanks for the lovely title to our thread this morning! You are too funny. I'll try and be around today for ya. I hate it when the thread is lonely.

Leanne, Tneah and Lainie--what's shakin?

I should go read last night's posts. I'll try and BBL. For now I must go chug massive amounts of coffee.

Allison

Tneah, I love the picture of you on your pink bike and a straw hat. You will be the crazy HOT lady of Shelter Island. Isn't that nice of you guys to give the captain the day off. I agree about the WA DC memorials. We took Jay and Emily to Arlington a couple months before he left for Afghanistan. The changing of the guard always gets me.

Shannon! I didn't expect to see you until Monday. Happy 4th! Mmmmm, corn on the cob. It should be ready here in a week or so. I can't wait. I love summer meals of cold shrimp, corn on the cob, fresh tomatos from the garden. I can't wait.

Welcome Home Kristi. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. LOL at the TPing. Also, LOL at the girls having to do the clean up.

Shelley, I'm blushing. Thanks for the compliments. Especially since I know you get to eat pretty good with Chris around.

I'm all done with GS Legs and the pie is cooling. Now what to do for the rest of the day. We are going to Jay's family's for a cookout and fireworks, but don't know what time the shindig starts. I wonder if I can talk DH and Tris into going for a hike?

Happy July 4, ladies, and Happy Friday to Shelley (and hooray for your half-day!)!

Hooray, Kristi is back!! :) But now we'll miss Kara while she's gone. :-(

Sorry that I didn't get a chance to check back in yesterday. We brought DH's friend and his wife lunch, and spent the afternoon ooh'ing and ah'ing over the new little baby! His name is Cooper, and he's such a little cutie pie!

Today we're having my family and Mike's family over for a little BBQ. It should be pretty casual and relaxing. We'll probably take my niece for a little walk to see fireworks. From our house, we can see the LegoLand fireworks, but if we walk down the street a bit, we should be able to peek out over the lagoon and see some more. I think I have Imax 2 scheduled for today, along with some Core Max. We bought a tiramisu cake for dessert, and I plan on indulging a bit! Speaking of which,I dropped a half-pound this week, and my body fat has gone down a bit. It's so odd b/c I wasn't trying to lose weight this week -- and it always seems to be that when I'm TRYING to lose weight, it doesn't happen, and then when I'm NOT trying, it does. Lesson learned! ;-)

BG -- Reading your post just now made me tear up! It's so true that we stress too much over stupid things like how we look, instead of appreciating all our bodies do for us. I'm just so relieved and happy that everything turned out to be fine yesterday! And how exciting that your new little nephew arrived safely! What's his name? If you had posted a picture of your boob, it probably would have fit right in with our new Melters theme -- LOL! Naw, I'm not a good dancer at all, but I sure like to do happy dances! I'm sort of a vegetarian; I'll eat chicken *occasionally* if someone else cooks it ;-), but otherwise I don't eat meat at all. You should definitely not stress if you don't get a workout in today. Enjoy that coffee with us "biddies"! ;-)

Deb -- Hope you're sleeping in this morning and enjoying the start of the holiday weekend!

Robin -- How nice that Tristan is there for the weekend and that you were able to have a nice dinner last night! Yes, we had a great time yesterday, and it was so nice to cuddle and smell the new little one, Cooper!

Kristi -- Welcome back, welcome back! We've missed you, but I'm so glad to hear that you had a great time! Did Katie and Haleigh enjoy their first visit to Chicago? Oh, that's awful about the TP'ing! Teenagers! Oh, and thank you so much for that lovely card! Did you make it?? I'm so impressed -- it's just gorgeous!!

Shannon -- Hope you have a great time with family today! Robin is so right -- we all admire you so much for your sane approach to health and fitness!

Jennifer -- It was nice to "see" you yesterday! Glad you're doing well!

Peggie -- Yes, I agree with BreckGirl that you need to get caught up on your sleep!:)

Shelley -- Hooray for doing SZ today! The first time I did it, I ended up taking off my weighted gloves since they made my shoulder bother me, so I hadn't been using them. The other day, I got the gloves out again when I did SZ, and it made such a huge difference. Ah, Chris' massages sound so nice! :) It's funny that you and Tneah were talking about massages b/c I was thinking of getting Mike a gift certificate for a couple of massages for his b-day.

Tneah -- I'm getting such a nice image of you having that nice glass of vino, sitting on the deck of your boat last night. Sigh. Sorry that the steering wheel broke. :-( How fun that you'll be getting a bike! We have beach cruisers from when we had our condo down at the beach, and I loved zipping around on them. I miss living as close to the beach as we used to. Oh, and I didn't get your message in time to give Mr. Trainer a big kick, but I'll be sure to do so next time. ;-) Hey, any news on the photos from Florida?? :)

Lainie -- How exciting that the patio is done in time for your BBQ today! I hope you have a blast!

Allison -- Gosh, babe, I am just so darn happy that you're doing so well and are enjoying time with your new beau! I'm sorry that the family drama is still going on, but it's nice that you're able to detach a bit. Sorry that the nieces were a bit exhausting. LOL about your comment about them being good birth control. When I was in college, I worked on a labor and delivery ward of a hospital, doing data entry. When I went in early on weekends, I'd call my parents, and they could hear the screaming in the background. My dad once said that it was probably the best form of birth control ever. :+ I've always wondered if that somehow informed my decision to not have kids . . . . ;-)

ETA: Wow -- lots of lovely lady Melters posting in the time I took to type my message! Like Robin, I love the idea of Tneah looking like the HAWT lovely lady on her pink bike! And Shannon -- what a wonderful way to start the day! Allie -- You poor thing! Instead of chugging that coffee, can you go back to bed for a little bit longer so you'll maybe feel up to the picnic??

Love to all my melty gals!

YAY! Peoples! I love it when the peoples are here!

BG - does the jumping up and down count as a workout, d'ya think?

Tneah - you almost have ME in tears!! Is Georgie okay with the fireworks? Gilbert is fine, but Sadie goes crazy. Poor thing gets so stressed out. I Googled MBTs this morning. They're not THAT ugly:p

Allie - oh dear! I'm sorry to hear you feel crappy! Drink some coffee! I bet you'll enjoy the picnic thingie once you get there.

Shannon - boss man is CRANKY today! I think he's leaving early to go to a meeting and we're only here until 1, so I'll manage.

Allison – I betcha you’ll perk right up (um, no “melty” pun intended here – but obviously my mind is gutter-bound… and so early in the morning…hmph) when you see studley. And if you don’t, you can chill together and relax. Have some coffee, spritz some cool water on that pretty face and stretch. Your body will wake up. You had kind of a trying day yesterday!

Shannon – I just want to sit and listen to your musings for like, 15 hours. Although I don’t know you so well just yet, you seem to have such amazing insights! I can’t eat corn on the cob cuzza these dang metal things attached to my teeth – but I so love it! It’s not exactly the most glamorous food to eat, but aren’t those always the best???? :D

Tneah – how awesome you’re giving your captain the day off to spend with his fam. That’s what holidays are all about – and your generosity is evident. Y’all (said with complete and thorough Texas drawl) will have such a wonderful time! And Georgie barking will just be his way of celebrating (consider it his rendition of *insert any patriotic song you like here*) And I completely adore the idea of a pink bike with a basket. Be sure to get one of those little “ching ching” bells on it. ;)

Robin – I can smell the pie. Mmmmmmmmm How can you work out to pie aroma? I’d be doing bicep curls with a fork, from the pie pan to my pie hole. :D Hey, and I noticed on another post you mentioned Greyor. I think I remember from awhile back he was born with some challenges, right? How’s he doing?

Shelley - *hangs head* I wasn’t ACTUALLY jumping up and down. It’s really hard to type while doing that. But I was jumping up and down in my heart. Does that count? I know you’re Canadian and all, but maybe if you strategically place a firecracker in cranky bossman’s behind, he’ll leave you alone. :p

Leanne – so happy you got to smell little baby with me yesterday! My new little one’s name is Jacob. I don’t know how to post a picture, though. I love how you’re spending your evening, too! I love fireworks, but from far away. Me no likey loud noises. I can remember as a child, being completely obnoxious and cowering in the backseat floorboard crying during fireworks shows. So I enjoy them from a distance now.

Have fun Lainie – we miss you, but know you’re partyin down!
Hi to everyone else!!!

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj39/tneah/HPIM0286.jpg

Hope these work! The first is the rehearsal dinner...I am the white girl on the far right...:) DH's daughter is standing with her boyfriend in the back..pretty girl huh? The others are DH's best buddy with his wife, and his wife's niece.

The next is me on the left with DH and his DD. These were not the pics I wanted to post, but have not had access to the others yet...oh well. My dresses actually looked really pretty, you cannot really tell from the pics though. Oh, and we were all kinda buzzed--can ya tell?}(

OMG, woman, you are so darn GORGEOUS and SEXAY!! Your dresses look absolutely wonderful, and you and Mitch are such a stunning couple!! You look absolutely elegant and classy and just plain BEAUTIFUL in your dresses. You picked out the perfect things to wear! Mitch's DD is so pretty, too! WOW, chica! You are one HAWT woman, but of course we already knew that!!:D

Here! Here! Tneah, you and Mitch are one slick looking couple!

Allie, I hope you feel better after you get up and moving.

BG, Greyor is doing OK. He is seriously delayed, but so darn cute. Right now he is asleep in his car seat. He gets therapy twice a week and laughs all the time. As long as he's happy, we'll take it.

I've decided to take Tristan out to the mall for some new shorts while DH mows the lawn. Emily came home and wants to mall with us too. See you all later...

I know -- I had been thinking the same thing as Shelley -- that Tneah looks like she's 25 in that second photo, where we can see her face a bit more! Wowzers is right!

Robin -- Oh, so glad to hear that Greyor is still doing well! You'll have to post some recent photos of the cutie pie. Have fun at the mall with Tristan and Emily! Hope you find some good bargains!
