HAPPY FRIDAY - C'MON & CHECK IN!

Hi gals! Hope everyone is doing well, especially those who haven't exactly been "up to par" lately.

I'm entering my 16th week and can't believe how much I'm showing already! My mother-in-law gave me a few pants last month that I sorta giggled about because I couldn't believe that I'd get big enough to wear 'em! Well gang, as I sit here typing this email...I've got 'em on. I've surrendered to getting bigger though because I know that I'm eating healthy and working out. Heck, I'm growing a little human in there.

I must admit that my appetite is has tripled since I've been feeling better and hard to keep under control. From one challenge to the next. For the most part I do pretty well...but there are those days I must have MacDonalds or some other sinful treat. If I do indulge, I definitely make up for it for the next couple of days. This weekend I'm going to a cabin on a lake in the Poconos with a group of girlfriends. I was a little frightened by the sheer volume of food they loaded into my car this morning. Every single imaginable snack, baked good and junk food. Yikes, I could be in trouble! Luckily, I packed my workout gear and walking shoes.

I feel kinda left out on the new video excitement. Did anyone order Cathe's new tapes? I figured that I'd use them for my post-pregnancy come back, but it's hard not to at least check them out. Anyone order them already?

One last thing...I've been reading up on ultrasounds. Is it true that you get a clearer picture with a full bladder? Is there anything else you can to enhance the image?

Thanks for posting. I LOVE hearing what is going on with everyone else. It's fun to be able to meet all of you during this exciting time.

Have a great weekend!

Candori, Your weekend sounds like a lot of fun. Have a great time with the girls and eat lots of junk food for the rest of us!

As for my week, I am approaching 28 weeks and can't believe how quickly it has gone. I did my glucose test this week, but have not heard back on it. I am a little concerned about my glucose level because of some symptoms that I am having, but I guess I will find out soon enough. I have a dr. appt on Monday. Has anyone else had any experience with gestational diabetes?

I didn't do any workouts for an entire week, but this week I am back on track and I actually managed a strength session this morning (I hate strength work)! I am feeling a little left out on the new Cathe tapes. I didn't order any yet. I want to use them as part of my post-partum motivation. I will probably break down and go ahead and get Rhythmic Step and Power Hour! I am anxious to read some of the reviews. I must admit that I am getting a little bored with the tapes that I have been using. I am a creature of habit, so I end up using the same 7-8 tapes over and over again.

As for ultrasounds and a full bladder, it depends on the type of ultrasound. I asked my dr. if I needed a full bladder prior to my u/s at 21 weeks and he told me that it would interfere with the picture. He indicated that a full bladder is helpful for gynecological u/s, but not for obstetric.

My appetite is playing tricks on me latley. I am really having trouble eating supper. I just am not hungry and NOTHING sounds good. I have been weighing myself this week, and I don't think I have gained any weight since my last dr. visit 4 weeks ago. I am not too concerned, but I have been steadily gaining a pound a week for the last 16 weeks, so it just seems a little strange.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Hi Everyone!

I'm visiting my family in Montana until August 15. Fortunately, my parents have Internet access, or I'd be suffering from some serious withdrawal! Pathetic, isn't it? ;-)

I also got to meet my nephew for the first time last week! He's a month old and so much fun to hold! I'm trying to learn as much as I can from my sister, since this is my first pregnancy! It seems like constant work, but worth it!

I'm at 8 weeks now and I'm starting to not feel as nauseous as I was last week. I just don't feel "good" most of the time. I'm trying to eat regularly, and I feel pretty good right after I eat, but then I start feeling yucky again. I'm able to hold everything down, which is a good thing.

My exercise has been limited to playing with my sister's new baby and her 2 year old. I go for walks mostly. I haven't done an exercise video in weeks! Everyone keeps telling me, I'll feel much better after the first trimester is over. I hope so!

I ordered Cathe's new DVDs and have to wait until August! :-( I'm looking forward to hearing about her new workouts from those who ordered VHS. Maybe I'll feel good enough to try them when they finally come!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi!

I'm 35.5 weeks now , and I feel great. Except for the itchy skin (bile salts in my skin. Happened llast time too.) But I can manage that. Sometimes I have to take an antihistamine to sleep (to cut on the edge of the itching), but mostly i'm fine.. and it isn't like this every day.

I'm days away from when DD was born (36 wks to the day), but I am hoping to make it to 37 or 38 weeks this time. In any case, all is ready, and I'm not in any huge hurry.

I'm on weekly visits since 34 wks, and everything seems fine.

I also did not preorder - my company had layoffs durign the preorder time, and engineering finally got hit. I didn't want to get hit at the next round (I am the most senior engineer, other than my boss, and I am also taking 3 mos off post partum. Not a good position to be in (paid the most, but not *there* if you know what i mean..). But the pictures and descriptions have got me frothing at the bit.

I am going to wait (sorry Cathe!) until I get back into shape (With all myother Cathe vids, etc) and then get them as a reward or to alter my routine. I will probably get them on DVD and then either get a dvd player for downstairs, or use my laptop as a tv for this purpose.

Boy, it sure feels weird - my last weeks of ever being pregnant!!!

RE: Hi!

Leela I am right there with you! My husband says the "groveling" at the doctor begins this week (I start weekly visits and hopes of induction). I'm at 35.5 weeks as well and generally feeling pretty good - except for this ghastly heat! Thank goodness we have a pool. I am in it every day doing my "water aerobics" routine. I do leg work and arm work, and believe it or not, I actually am noticing some arm definition I've never noticed before! And I am getting some of my leg definition back! It feels great! plus it's so refreshing.

I actually did order the new Cathe tapes, and I should get them today. I don't plan on using them for quite a while, but the price was too good to pass up. I probably will begin with my pilates stuff shortly after I deliver, at least to get my legs & arms back into condition.

Leela, I hope you make it to your goal! My dream is to go at my 38th week. Hopefully he'll talk about induction tomorrow!

Good luck!
Sue

RE: Hi Everybody!

Hi to all you "fit mama's to be!!"
It sounds like everybody is doing well!! Candoori, I know about those McDonald's cravings... Egg McMuffins are food of the gods in my world!
I am just past 31 weeks and still doing well. The baby is starting to give me bladder jabs, which aren't too fun. (Esp. after drinking a quart of water and sitting in a traffic jam!)
I am still continuing to exercise every day, although I am starting to slow it down. I am still able to do an elliptical trainer, recumbent bike, walk, and some of Cathe's step tapes. ( I revamp all high intensity moves now so they are low impact.) I am still using all of her strength tapes, just modified and at lower weights. So far, so good!!
I think the exercise has really helped as far as minimizing back pain, swelling, and general fatigue. Now I am starting to get anxious about the labor/delivery and what the world will be like Post baby.
I did preorder the Cathe tapes but I am not going to touch them until after the baby is born and I can work out again. It gives me something to look forward to when I start back up.
PS-- In regard to your question on Ultra Sound...My doctor had me do mine on a full bladder for better viewing. She felt it does show a better picture. If you are extremely uncomfortable, let your technician know so that you can empty some of your bladder to a more comfortable level..
Looking forward to hearing from the rest of you!!
Lynn

Hi all of you happy Mommies-To-Be. I can hear the enthusaism in your posts. It's so nice to hear. Ahh, the days of being pregnant are all coming back to me so vividly as I read your posts. I'm so proud of all of you for making such wise exercise choices (notice I didn't say eating choices, HA:)) for yourselves at this special time in your life. The hardest thing I found to deal with during my pregnancy was the irrational food cravings. I wanted Mc Donalds practically 24/7. I found many other pregnant women dealing with the same cravings for salty or starchy foods.

Well, I just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and wish you all the best of luck.

Well hopefully I'll get to hear the heartbeat this Friday at my appointment. It'll be the day before I turn 11 weeks so it could go either way. Keep your fingers crossed....please.

My m/s appears to have gone away, thank goodness. Energy is coming back slightly. Maybe I'll actually manage to exercise this week. Let's hope anyway.

My mother decided to announce yesterday that I have a gut. Gee thanks mom. I'm at the point where I can wear drawstring pants and that's about it. Maternity pants swallow me up and my jeans are so uncomfortable. I just feel like a big fat marshmellow...LOL

Hi everyone! It sounds like everyone is doing well. Fitmom-Good luck hearing the heartbeat!
At 15 weeks, things are getting better with the fatigue. I'm very slow getting up in the morning and some nausea hits in the afternoon and usually in the evening. Probally my biggest complaint is my stomach always seems uncomefortable. I am either nauseated or I eat and then I feel like I ate a huge Thanksgiving dinner. I am having trouble finding a happy medium. Oh well, it was the same as my 1st pregnancy.
I am feeling more energy which makes me excited. I just recieved Cathe's new videos today. I previewed Power Hour and some of Rythmic Step. I have a feeling I will also be waiting to use them after the baby arrives. It's o.k. because it will be a great motivator and something new to look forward to!
As some you stated, I am also trying to be creative as far as finding clothes to wear. Not big enough for maternity but feel very bulky in my regular clothes.
Have a great healthy week everyone!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-31-01 AT 09:43PM (Est)[p]I can totally relate on the clothing issue,I am usually known as a fashion queen but lately it's drawstrings and t-shirts(you know I had to invade the hubby's closet)
I'ts should not be too long until we can pop on our good ole maternity jeans.
I can't wait especially with all the nice stuff that the Gap has.

Just wanted to tell you that I first heard my baby's heartbeat at 9 weeks.(Now I can hardly believe that I only have 9 weeks to go!) So I think you should have a great chance of hearing the heartbeat this Friday! Good Luck !

Linda

Thanks :) I thought so too but there's several people on my email list that didn't hear it at their last appointment. I heard my daughters heartbeat at 10 weeks so I'm pretty comfortable with hearing it Friday. Thanks for the encouragement though :)

I heard my first's at 10 weeks, and this baby's wasn't audible at 13!

And it wasn't 'maternal fat' related either. The placenta placement, coupled with the baby placement made it impossible to detect via doppler so they did an impromptu u/s.

I just wanted to reassure you that at 13 wks, I couldn't hear it, and it was beating! (Still is :) )

Leela (36 weeks today! Today is the day my first girl was born, in terms of 'when in the pregnancy')

Hello all!

Exercising & eating have been going well. I think I might order the new Cathe videos. I checked out the video clips and the music is really motivating. I, also, feel like I need the new choreography to keep myself motivated to exercise. I started doing the PS series which I haven't done in a really long time. I had been doing the CTX strength series (which I love) since its release, but I really needed a change.

Are pushups discouraged for pregnant women? I can't remember. I've been doing them on my knees. I tried doing them against the wall, but it doesn't feel quite the same to me.
