You are such an inspiration!!!!!!!

I have to tell you, I was a long time lurker on the boards before I started posting, and you have always touched me with your kind words, faith, and dedication. I'm sure you have touched so many people that you don't even know about.

Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You deserve every happiness.

God bless!

Heather,

Let me add my voice to the cheering here. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! BRAVO!!! You rock!!:D That is such an awesome achievement and good for you pushed yourself to that finishing line. Well, you know what, Cathe's right 2009 is your year to shine and be blessed. You are an inspiration to us all and if I could I'd give you a high five and a hug. See, there's nothing holding you back from achieving your dreams. I think Cathe and Coach Sean are the best coaches anyone could have, and with God on your side how could you not shine as the wonderful accomplished person that you are.

Hugs, applause, and a autograph please.:p

Heather, AWESOME JOB!!! Way to go for setting a goal and not only seeing it through but surpassing your expectations!:D:D Your post was very inspiring and I wish you continued success as you begin your STS journey.

Congrats! That is VERY exciting! I have ran for years but never really cared to race, last year my brother talked me into my first race and I have been hooked ever since. Grant it, I don't do it to win:rolleyes: just for the t-shirt!

Still Doing the Happy Dance!!!!

Thanks for celebrating with me and sharing my joy! I am still smiling and doing the happy dance! :)

My first 5K was such an awesome and life-changing experience. Standing at the starting line was a defining moment for me. I made the decision to go for it with all my heart and give it my all instead of walking at a comfortable pace just to finish. I know in my heart that I gave my very best that day, and I have a true "before" picture of my fitness level and my personal best time to race against during my next 5K! This was my first, but it will not be my last!

I did not follow a structured training program. Diving in the deep end and just doing it is more my style! LOL! I pushed myself for this special occasion, but I know that pounding the pavement on a regular basis is not good for my feet and joints at this weight and size. I started training with Cardio Coach Volume 3 in the pool in November. I jog and run sprints through 4 feet of water and step up and down on a step at the end of the pool for hills. I have Ryka water running shoes that look like regular running shoes but are made for the pool. This is a great way to train while I am overweight. The water adds resistance, supports my weight, and protects my joints. Other than a 30-minute walk on New Year's Day and my practice walk at the race site 2 weeks ago, I did not run or walk on land at all. I warmed up in January with Cathe's cardio and circuit training workouts. I did not plan on running this time. It is my goal to run a 5K all the way by the end of the year without any walking breaks.

Making my goal and finishing in less than an hour was a huge victory for me. A local attorney who is an experienced marathon runner called yesterday to congratulate me. He watched me finish strong and cross the finish line, and he wanted me to know that I picked the hardest course in the area for my first 5K with all those hills! Yes, I dive right in the deep end! The good news is that most of the races around here are flat courses.

I started STS with confidence Sunday during the Super Bowl knowing that I can believe and achieve my fitness goals with a determined focus and plenty of perseverance when the road gets rough. During my 5K, I also made the commitment to give my all to every STS workout instead of babying my body with comfortable weights. I want to make every rep count! I am getting a better workout than I would with my personal favorite weights. LOL! The workout cards tell me how much weight to choose, and I have faith and just do it. Yes!

My energy has returned, and I believe my body has finally recovered from the 5K. I am delighted to share that I never experienced any pain or discomfort in my knees. My legs, glutes, and feet were sore. That is to be expected! Thanks to the first and second STS workouts, I have upper body DOMS to match! Glory!

Hugs to Dani, Karin, Sue, Michele, Judi, Becca, Mary, Jane, Ellie, Wendy, Jill, Jonahnah, Traci, Jo, Sandra, Cathe, Leanne, Iris, Vikinyc, Brighton, Kristi, Belinda, Nora, Dianna, Lori, Cynthia, Jenn, Angela, Dixiedog, Carole, Lorrie, Robin, Jerry, and Wendy! :)

Sandra, look for an update after I faithfully finish each mesocycle of STS!

Lori, I run for the tee shirt too! LOL! I wore my pretty red Rhythm 5K tee shirt to my Zumba class Monday night and did a victory dance!

Jerry, I will let you know when the presale starts for the Heather jersey. *wink * It will sell for a bunch of hugs! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.
