Hair Help

I have very long, thick hair. It seems that the only way that I can tie it up (while still looking clean and professional) is to stick it in a ponytail. I wish there was somthing out there that I could use to do some type of an "up-do" or other style. Does anyone use any particular clip or gadget that allows them to secure long, thick locks?

Do you have a Claire's Boutique in your shopping mall? They have all kinds of thingy's for your hair. I really recommend you going there.

Christine,

When I used to work in an office I would go to the gym first. It didn't leave a lot of time to shower and make myself presentable. Anyway, I used this big clip and would twist my hair up and secure with the clip. It did look professional. I can't remember the name of the clip, but Charlotte's right you can go to Claire's and they seem to have a ton of options for your long hair. My hair isn't as long as it used to be, but I still use the clips when I'm running short on time.

HTH!

Hi,

I'm going to recommend Claire's or a beauty story where you can find all kinds of heavy clips to hold your hair up. You can twist your hair in a bun in the back or closer to your crown and then take one of the clips to clip your ends at the bottom or top of your bun to hold it in place. You could put your hair in a pony tail after you tease the roots a little and then add a skinny headband just to give it a little oomph! You could even pull your hair in a ponytail but don't pull all the hair through leaving half of it out and fasten the ends close to the hair band... Sometimes the teenage magazines have really cool updo's more so than adult magazines...maybe flip through one of them to get some ideas.

My hair is long and thick, and the only thing that will keep it in place is a ponytail band. When you do high impact exercise, I have found that the other types of clips loosen.

I think that the ponytail look is kind of cute, and it is easy to do.

I highly recommend a Ficare clip. They are relatively expensive (for a hair clip), but they hold INCREDIBLY well, and come in 3 sizes (S/M/L). Large clips are made for very thick hair. You can use them to make a pretty french twist, for a 1/2 up-do, etc. Lots of options. Department stores carry them, higher end boutique shops often carry them. If you do a Google search for "Ficcare clip" you'll get some hits to see what they look like.

Whatever you do, please bypass those horrible giant banana clips that were popular in the early 90s. They look so dated!! Every time I see someone in one, I think of that Sex & the City episode where Carrie's boyfriend wrote the book featuring a woman running around wearing a scrunchie, of all things. Hehe.

Maybe you can find some bands in interesting colors or with some embellishment.

I'm sure you look fab regardless, though.

:)
