Good morning,
I had to jump in here and let you know that I too just started doing my new Cathe workouts this week. I too was a Firm gal that simply wasn't seeing the challenge I wanted. I have started watching the entire Cathe videos through while on the elliptical and then when I did my first (think I did GS legs, it was one of the lower body ones I just bought) DVD I went much lower on weights so I could get through the workout and do with correct form. I know how easy it is to injure yourself so I wanted to be safe. Mind you, with the Firm I was using 2 15lb dumbells for the step ups. I did the Cathe DVD with ONE 10lb weight and got a great workout; I remember thinking, how in the world can I get a good workout with ONE dumbell?? Boy was I wrong...not sure what to attribute it to, but Cathe's workouts are far more intense; I think the step-ups are faster and there are MORE plus the overall workouts are longer and more intense; more bang for your buck than the fluff found in Firm workouts with the Stepford Wife instructors (LOL sorry!)
So I hope that helps!! I have NO problem humbling myself to start small and work up because I know it will happen. (FYI I have also been doing Taebo advanced workouts the older ones for years and gosh I can still barely get through those workouts without pausing for some water..so it shows you that fitness is a journey!)
**also on your food, I think you do need to change your 'diet' or way of eating. Have you ever read anything like Body for Life or Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle? (www.burnthefat.com)??
I would suggest trying to eat 5-6 mini meals a day with good quality protein and good carbs (fruits, vegies, oatmeal) etc.; cut out processed foods, fast foods, sugary fake foods and diet frozen meals/bars etc. and you'll see progress!
Go for it!!
**Excuse me while I order MORE Cathe DVDS!!!
