Cathlete
So I'm doing my first Cathe rotation this month. I'm doing the January one so you know I've been working out a LOT! Problem is, I missed Monday AND Tuesday this week due to some cat drama. My question is: has anyone done an upper body Gym series workout and the lower body workout in one day? I really really want to complete all the workouts this month and I'd rather not do a strength training session and a cardio session on the same day. Has anyone out there done this? Did you survive???}(

Carolyn

Carolyn, I haven't done an upper and the lower both on one day, but I have done both of the upper body ones. It was tough, but doable. Why don't you eant to do cardio and strength on the same day?

Hi Carolyn,

i'm at the end of my first Cathe rotation now too but i've been working out with Cathe for years. I've been doing the December rotation that includes some Gym styles and the new DVDs. I myself have done two workouts in the same day to make sure that I complete all the workouts in the month - and so that i don't have to mess up my calendar. :) I've always found it ok to do upper body GS and lower body on same day but i've had to be careful what was planned for the following day - i usually just try to put a cardio :)
How have you found the Jan rotation? have you been getting good results?

Aileen

Hi Carolyn - yes, I've done both upper and lower body in one day. One time I did all 3 GS in one day - takes a while, and because I did the one with the chest last, I lacked strength a bit for all those push ups. I think you'll do great! Good luck with your rotation!

Thanks for the replies ladies!:)

Robin - for some reason cardio really tires me out for weight training and vice versa. I feel like the second workout (whatever it is), always suffers. Maybe it's mental but I just feel like when I finish a complete cardio or a complete WT workout, I'm DONE. Maybe I lack the patience for 2 different kinds of workouts. You'd think I'd hate circuits but I actually really like them.

Ailenna - good to know you've done 2 in a day. I tried the Dec rotation but I just didn't complete the last week. I had my sister visiting from the US so we traveled and had fun which was more important at the time :) . I really like the Jan rotation although I made a critical error at the beginning. I took the first Monday off (dropped sister off at the airport that day), so I ended up working out 15 (yes 15!!!!) days in a row before a rest day. Crazy I know! But Cathe expertly planned the rotation so there weren't too many cardios or WT days in a row. It was do-able but definitely a first (and hopefully last) for me!

Tygra - I can't believe you did all 3 in one day! That's really commendable! I feel better about attempting it now. Especially after 2 rest days in a row. It shouldn't be too bad right?;-)

Aileen and Carolyn,
Did ya'll see results from the Jan. rotation? I have gained 5 lbs. x( and now I've got to get it off. I just can't make up my mind as to what rotation to do. Also, I've GOT to work my legs with weights at least twice a week or they get really chunky looking. I've got the Gym Style workouts but have never done a rotation with them and I've got Slow and Heavy but haven't even done them yet!! I thought maybe Jan.'s rotation would be good but only if it will help me get these 5 lbs. off!

Ashley

Carolyn,

Why don't you do MuscleMax instead? You hit the total body in a way similar to the GymStyles, in 70 mins. I would consider that a great way to catch up.

Cheers,
Sandra

Good idea Sandra and Carole I might consider that one.
Shelley, can't believe you did all 3 too! You guys are hardcore (pun intended ;) ) I actually just finished chest and tri's and I don't think I could do anything else involving the chest. It was shaking like no one's business! Of course upper body is my weak point.

Ashley, Since I've tried so hard to follow the rotation (up until this week that is), I've noticed some strength gains in the triceps and biceps and *MAYBE* the chest (It's so hard for me to build strength there). I've noticed that I can almost do 12 pushups on the toes with my upper arms going parallel to the ground but no lower. I've also gained some more cardio endurance with running and I'm NO runner so that's been exciting. It was a revelation to me that I could actually run at a slow pace and still count it as running. I was way to hard on myself before. It was also re-affirmed during this rotation that I absolutely HATE Maximum Intensity Cardio. I just can't stand it and I don't think I'll ever do it again}( !
