Deb H and I drove to Mansfield (1-1/4 hr. drive) and met Aimee! We all had a huge salad at Applebee's that took an hour to eat, they were so big ('course we gabbed, too), then we went SHOPPING! In a mall, on a Saturday during the Xmas rush! I NEVER do that!

It was neat to meet Aimee....she's fun and jest a lil' bitty thang. Too, too cool!

So when do we do it again?!;-)

It sounds like you had a ton of fun. Anyone want to come up to northern Saskatchewan and visit me where I live??? We could go snowshoeing or skiing right now. :)

Hope you had a ball.

RE: Don't let HB fool you all........

HB and Debbie are lil' bitty things themselves:)!!
We did have a wonderful time!! Shopping during the X-Mas season is totally out of character for me too!! That's why we always try to get done before Thanksgiving;-).
We definately need to do this again!! Talk about some fantastic ladies!! Anybody who has met these two are privleged!
Let me know when you all want to do it again and if I can, I'll be there!! Hopefully with a better sense of direction too;-)!

Thanks again!!
Aimee

It...

...was sooo FUN! AND...those salads were GREAT! I wish everyone could have joined us. It is so neat to put a face with a name. Of course, I had the privilege of meeting HB over a year ago and it was so great to finally meet Aimee. Aimee,I'm not sure about me being an itty bitty thing, but thanks for the compliment. We all know how HARD we work to get where we are. After our get together, it just makes me so much more excited to be able to go on a roadtrip to Cathe's place some day to meet all you great people here. There just is not another site on the net that has sooo many! Thanks HB & Aimee for a great day!!!:7

the kitty logo comes from Plauder Smiles i dont have the exact web address here at my office computer... but its the same place DebbieH got her little wavey friend!
you might find it on a search.

i selected the kitty and copied the address at the bottom...then i deleted the "img" from both ends of the address... other wise i had an unwanted little image box with my kitty.

i just mothered a litter of kittens from a stray kitty and they are too loveable.

RE: There are a few in the cities I frequent

LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-01 AT 07:34AM (Est)[p]Hi Honeybunch

Saskatoon and Prince Albert both have some pretty decent malls but there are none in the town I live in. But hey, I would meet you in Saskatoon no problem.

I would love, love, love to make it on a road trip but the distance and the cost tends to be a bit restrictive for me. Even to go to the fitness event in Toronto (Canfit pro?) would be difficult and very expensive because of the distance. However, at least that would be in Canada in Canadian dollars.

You know you all you Americans that if you come to Canada for a holiday right now, a $1000 of your dollars turns into $1500 or $1600 Canadian so you can't lose and conversely for me. And, don't let anybody tell you that things are that much more expensive here because they are not. A pair of jeans in the states is $60 and they are the same price here so for my buck (or 64.5% thereof) it is better for me not to shop when I get into the US but to do it in Canada.

Sorry this ended up so long - have a great day.

Kim

I've wondered

Kim, you've posted several times that shipping from the U.S. is quite expensive because of the tariff. I've wondered about that. Isn't the idea behind NAFTA free trade? Doesn't sound free. Maybe it's something to do with the Canadian VAT (or whatever it's called).

As we're nearing the solstice, what time is the sun rising & setting up there? Sunrise is about 6:15 & it's setting about 4:45 here (with lots of grumbling about the later).

Got off the original track here - not the first time!

Anyone fancy a trip to London?

Oh now I'm really missing out - I'm all the way in England and bet no-one will make the trip over here ;-)

Oh well - will just have to make do with the forum then ;-)

RE: Hi Debra

I will explain why ordering from the US is so expensive. Here are the reasons:

1. The Canadian dollar is at about .64 or .65 on a good day lately. That means if I order something from the US which is $100, it then becomes $160 for me in Candian money.

2. The exchange is bad enough but then we get charged duty on items we order from the US unless it is listed as a gift and as you know, companies and corporations have a pretty hard time mailing out "gifts" to people for which they have paid. Years ago, my father sent me a gold ring and forgot to put "gift" on it and I had to pay $50 just to get it out of the Post Office!

Things like free trade and the NAFTA agreement have so far not helped out the average Canadian consumer shopping in the states, at least not the last time I ordered anything from the US. If it were not for CK Sales, my video collection would be somewhat (who am I kidding) very thwarted.

Further, last year when I was in Vegas, I found that a pair of jeans, for example, would cost $60 American and back in Canada, the same pair of jean was also $60. So for my Canadian buck, shopping in the US is just not feasible.

As for the sun setting and rising, this morning, it rose at 9:09 a.m. and it will set close to 4:34 p.m. After December 21, as you know, the days will start to get longer again. I am fairly far up north and in the summer, the sun is up at 4:30 or earlier and does not set until 10:00 p.m. That of course is around the summer solctice in June.

Hi Kim

Thanks for the response. I knew the exchange rate favors the U.S. but I didn't understand the tariff. Interesting.

I tend to get up with the sun & would have a tough time with a 9 a.m. sunrise!

RE: Anyone fancy a trip to London?

I just watched some kids while their parents went to London for the week...
My mom is from Scotland (Aberdeen), and she goes back quite often. Maybe I'll join her one of these times and head down your way! :)
