i am looking for a way to increase my energy. does anyone have any great veggie/fruit smoothie recipes that may help? thank you.

YUM!

Ahhh...a green smoothie!! Here is a wonderful website that I've recently used to get some good green smoothie recipes:

I just started drinking green smoothies this summer, and now I look forward to one every day.

P.S. I think this may be my first post, but I have been a longtime Cathe fan for years. Thanks to all for all the wonderful advice over the years.

Thanks for the link! I've just been adding a handful of spinach to my usual protein shakes, with mixed results.

I posted some green smoothies tipes and a lot of recipes in this blog post: http://cathe.com/forum/blog.php?b=1595

My go-to green smoothie when I'm in a hurry is two oranges (peeled), one frozen banana, and either a handful of greens (spinach is good for beginners, I usually use kale) or some Vitamineral Green. (If you don't have a high-powered blender, it might not get smooth enough, so use o.j. and blend the greens with it first, then add the banana and blend until smooth).

I used to do a smoothie with chocolate soy milk, handful of frozen blueberries and a handful of spinach. It was quick and you couldn't even taste the spinach.

wow-- so impressive kathryn, thank you ! you also mentioned vitamineral green-- what do you include with that? is that as healthy as the fresh veggies? same effect?

I'm not sure about your first question: what do I include with it? You mean how do it use it?

I basically use it in place of the fresh greens in a smoothie when I don't have any on hand (for example, 1-2 Tbsp of VMG in my orange-banana smoothie instead of a handful of kale). I think it's as healthy as fresh veggies, because it combines quite a few different greens, as well as probiotics.

You do want to start conservatively with it, though, as it's an aquired taste. And I only use it in smoothies that have quite a bit of citrus in (orange, pineapple, or some lemon) and/or are pretty sweet otherwise (quite a bit of banana) as it is VERY green tasting and can be bitter.

Here's some info on it: http://www.healthforce.com/shop?pag...garden_flypage.tpl&product_id=6&category_id=1
