Gowearfit/Boddy Bugg ?

I am chomping at the bit to buy one or the other.

I have searched and seems I am getting more and more confused on what one has compared to the other.

Body Bugg - does not track during sleep, costs more, costs more monthly.

GWF - does not have a daily food log.

If I am wrong or anyone has anything else to add - please do so. I want to get this purchase right from the get go.

Thanks so much

Dawn

Hey there,

GWF does have a daily log available. Or you can opt for the other option of tracking against your average intake based on 3 days.

I love my GWF. It's been 2 months and I love the feedback it's given me....keeps me honest.

I'm in the same boat! I've been waiting for a great sale to help me decide which one, since, to me at least, I think the features are about the same. (I can track calories elsewhere no matter which I get)

I did hear elsewhere that there may be a special coming on the BodyBugg "from a certain infomercial fitness instructor". I'm not sure who or when or any other details. I think they're not allowed to say anything until the release date or something, but it sounds like it might be worth waiting for since I'm on the fence anyway.

I was leaning towards the GWF because it costs less and seems about the same - they're made by the same company, I think? I think either one would be fantastic motivation to move more and eat less!

Good Morning Dawn!

I don't have either, but I think I remember a lot of threads from about a month ago or so talking about both. Have you done a forum search?

:)

Hi

Yes I searched this morning and was not understanding everything so that is why I posted. And then made a run to Dick's Sporting Goods and lo and behold it was on sale so I snatched it up.

This after I sold my gold/silver jewelry pieces that I NEVER wear, were ugly, inherited from a mother who was a jeweler and ended up with $450 burning in my pocket.

Thanks for all of your input. I am very excited!

Baylian, Did you get the GWF or the Bodybug?

I have the GWF and use their site to upload my data and to track my food.

I'm thinking about not renewing the subscription to the GWF site and buying the display so that I can keep track while I am away for three weeks this summer.

I'm starting to get tired of uploading the data and was thinking that I can use one of the free websites available to track my food intake.

I'm just trying to decide if I want to shell out another $80....

I got the GWF (duh - forgot to mention that).

I have yet to get that far into it. Will get back to you on the software part.

Unfortunately that won't work. The GWF will stop working after 14 days. You have to upload it at least every 14 days or it stops storing info. And to upload it you have to use their site and have a subscription.

That said, I LOVE the display and couldn't imagine not having all my data whenever I want it. I know, I'm not helping you save any $$...sorry! :)

Well! I'm glad I posted this before I cancelled my subscription. I think I'll buy the display though since I'll be gone for 13 days, back home for one day and then off for another week of vacation. I find it a bit of a pain to load the data more than once a day and I'll bet that having something on my wrist giving me constant feedback will get me away from the computer trying to increase my post count!!

I was wondering how difficut is to input your food intake. I make everything from scratch. I find it though to enter the food on fitday.com as I don't use recipe so I eyeball all the ingredients. How does it work on GWF? Thanks

Delurking to say that the display also comes with a clip device that you can use to clip the display to your waistband, rather than wearing the big clunky wristband. I've used the clip since I got the GWF about six weeks ago. It's very well made and clips snugly to the waistband of my pants or front pocket on my jeans. Only downside is that the display sometimes pops out of the clip thingy, so I just took two small pieces of invisible scotch tape and put them on opposite edges. Works like a charm.

I love my GWF. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.

...sneaks back to lurkdom...

I wear mine clipped to the middle of my bra. If you wear tight clothing it might not work if you want it covered. But it works for me. I LOVE my display. I like getting the messages that I've reached my targets

For vacation - be sure to take a mini-USB/wall charger if you want to track for > 5 days. It's supposed to be charged at least every 5-7 days. I used my PDA recharger and it worked fine. Then I uploaded it when I got home. (Per the company be sure to use a GOOD one and not a cheap charger).

I saw someone at my work wearing one :D

Love, love, love my GWF! Food logging is a breeze, I hate logging and have resisted keeping a food journal online or otherwise until I got this little bugger. The daily targets for activity really help keep me honest and in touch with how much or little I am moving during the day, one word of caution though, there is strong possiblity of addiction to hitting the targets and then seeing if you can up them again (or maybe thats just me :p) Also, I definitely think the display is worth the extra dollars for the instant feedback.

Anyway, between my GWF tracking, STS, Cathe Cardio and my treadmill, I have lost 30 lbs in the last 3 months and am still going strong. Did I mention I love my GWF? lol ;)

Congratulations!!!

Forgot to mention that I use my PDA to track my food. I use the food average on the GWF site just for averaging. I wish it would allow me to put in the totals per day. I tried messing with it but it's more trouble that it's worth and i don't like the double entry.

As as littlefiretop mentioned it's the whole package. This is a great motivator for me. Yesterday I did almost no activity due to a back strain. I barely made it to work and back. So I got a baseline calorie burn rating. (It was higher than expected) I even found a use for a rest day! :p

I purchased the GWF after finding out that it's made by the same company that makes the body bugg and is waaaay cheaper. I also purchased mine on Amazon. I bought the display and armband for $179. The same week I received it, Amazon dropped the price to $155, so I called them and they refunded me the difference. Food logging is really easy. I actually clip my display to my armband. The most amazing thing is the sleep tracking. I knew I was sleeping poorly, but now I know just how poorly. It's also neat to see how many calories you burn during your workout. I can't tell you how many people have said in the past, "you can burn 900 calories spinning." Well, I wore it spinning the other day and was really putting out. I only burned 200. You also see how off your cardio machines are. I always input my weight on those machines as 10lbs less because I figured it would make the machine more accurate. Even doing that, I find that it's still about 100 calories off.

That's exactly what I'm hoping will happen :D I remember when I wore a pedometer to try to get to 10,000 steps and it got a little out of hand as I tried to beat my total every day.

And this is another thing I was thinking about. I KNOW those machines are off, but I don't know by how much, so it would be really great to figure that out once and for all. I'm hoping I can get more in tune with what a '500 calorie workout' really feels like so I can get better at self-monitoring.

I'm excited about the possibility of getting one of these soon - I'm just waiting for a really great sale or other bonus to be my sign that it's time to spend the money <haha> It's a budget issue, for sure, but I think I can swing it as an early birthday present if the price isn't too bad ;)

Thanks so much to everyone who posted here - the info is very encouraging. I'm going to go check the older posts to see what else I missed!

I got one, I got one

I got the GWF for my birthday:eek:. I am currently charging the battery and setting up my computer to get started. I find it so funny that I haven't even put it on my arm yet, but I thought twice about what I was going to eat for breakfast today knowing I would be logging my food and monitoring my activity. I can already see why this works so well for everyone and I haven't even attached it to my arm yet.

I am currently in an air cast on my foot so walking (or any movement) is pretty tough right now, and exercise is completely out of the question:mad:. I think it will be interesting to compare my activity level now to how it should increase when I can move again more easily. No matter what my activity situation I think that the daily calorie burn will provide the piece of information we are always searching for.

I will let everyone know what results I achieve.

How do I know I am purchasing a GOOD charger? Is it based entirely on price or is there a specific brand that I should look for?

I have a few that the company thought would be fine. One is for my PDA, the other is for my bluetooth headset. They indicated that if it was for a higher end device it would be ok. Seems there are some cheaper versions that don't have regulated voltage. They would not be good. You can contact the company if you have any specific questions. They were very helpful when I contacted them. I just used the contact section on the website.
