Government Jobs Application Time Frames

Does anyone know? Went to FAQ on one site and it stated it all depends on the agency. My application/resume got tagged for one.

TIA.

Where are you in the process? It can take months after you apply It's definitely not a fast process!! :-(

Not only does it depend on the agency, but also the individual & the process. I advertised for 3 positions in December. I just filled the last one. I had all kinds of hoops they had to jump through--skills tests, two interviews, background checks, reference checks etc. Every flippin govmt agency has layers & layers of beauracracy & red tape.

OTOH, if they need help badly, it could happen within a month. I applied for a position last summer & they interviewed me the week after the posting expired & offered me the job 2 weeks later.

I hate to say this b/c I don't want to discourage you, but it's really just a crapshoot depending on a number of variables. Have patience--being in the running is a very good thing! :)

Thank you, LauraMax, as always. The position I applied for was held over for almost one more month due to lack of qualified candidates. The agency tagged my resume for my region instead of the one I was willing to relocate to. The original job posting was for all regions and for all education/experience levels too. Fortunately, I surpass mim. education by both degree and GPA plus industry experience.
